Sirtaki cheese is bitter. Recipes with feta feta or sirtaki

Feta - fetaksa - sirtaki: my hierarchy of cheeses for Greek salad. In fact, fetaxa and sirtaki are analogues of feta, i.e. trade names for cheeses made to similar recipes.
Some of these cheeses are better for making salads, some for stuffing pancakes, some for topping croutons or stuffing rolls with ham.

What can be cooked:

Everyone knows about the Greek salad with fetax or feta, this item will definitely be on the menu of any restaurant or cafe of the middle level. And not necessarily in the salad section. This dish can also settle in the group of main dishes if it is served with hot chicken (small photo). Among the ingredients there will definitely be olives, onions, fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers and a filling of spices, lemon juice, olive oil. And when grilled pre-marinated chicken breast pieces are added, a large serving of this dish can be the only one for a hearty summer lunch.

Festive use case for fetaxes:
cured meat rolls, such as Parma ham or jamon, lots of dill and a fresh lettuce leaf. For this recipe, it is better to use sirtaki - this cheese is faster and easier to grind into a homogeneous paste.

And for croutons with dill and cheese, I usually use sirtaki. It takes 5 minutes to prepare. While several servings of croutons are being fried, you can have time to chop the dill, mix it with cheese. Grate hot croutons with garlic, cool and spread with dill cheese.

Another option for stuffed pancakes. The filling is a mixture of pounded or feta, or fetax, or sirtaki, finely chopped green onion with dill and small cubes of low-fat ham.

Recently, for all these dishes, I buy fetax hochland. Oddly enough, this is the most budget option, and you can buy it at any chain store.

FETAXA, FETA OR SIRTAKI - what is the difference

Both fetaxa and sirtaki are usually softer than feta. Saltier or spicier depends on the batch. But in fact, all these cheeses are close to the cheese we are more familiar with - these are all pickled salted cheeses.

A light lunch or dinner does not necessarily consist of a protein omelet or grilled vegetables, sometimes you want to enjoy fresh vegetables on a plate. Sirtaki cheese for Greek salad will make their usual taste brighter and more interesting, and it will add benefits - it has perfectly balanced proteins, fats and carbohydrates. In addition, this dish is prepared quickly and very simply, which makes it a truly indispensable quick snack.

Sirtaki differs from ordinary feta cheese in a brighter rich taste and aroma. It does not crumble, its dense consistency allows you to cut neat cubes with smooth edges. Locally produced sirtaki is made from cow's milk.

We cut the vegetables in the Greek salad large enough so that they look in it as separate slices, and not as a finely chopped mass. This will not only make the dish more aesthetic, but also create the right flavor accents.

Classic Greek salad with sirtaki cheese

The following recipe for Greek salad with sirtaki is considered traditional.

Ingredients

  • - 150 g + -
  • - 2 pcs. + -
  • - 1 PC. + -
  • - 1 PC. + -
  • — 80-90 + -
  • - 1 tbsp. l. + -
  • - pinch + -
  • fresh basil - 1/3 bunch (dry seasoning - 1 tsp) + -

How to make greek salad with sirtaki step by step

  1. Wash vegetables, dry greens thoroughly on a napkin.
  2. If the tomatoes are dense, cut them into cubes, if soft, it is better to limit yourself to slices so as not to turn the salad into porridge.
  3. We cut the cucumbers in half, and then chop them across, remove the stalk with seeds from the pepper and chop them in the same way as cucumbers.
  4. We cut the cheese into cubes 1 by 1 cm or a little more, as you like.
  5. Drain the brine from the olives and cut into slices. Chop the basil leaves, pour in the olive oil, mix everything.

Since both cheese and olives are quite salty, we first try the dressed salad and only then add salt if necessary. All is ready! It is better to serve Greek salad with sirtaki right away.

You can vary this recipe as you wish, for example, making the salad spicier.

Spicy version of Greek salad with sirtaki and Chinese cabbage

  • Cut 2-3 sheets of Beijing cabbage across into thin strips (3-4 mm), put it in a salad bowl and, after adding a little salt, knead it with your hand. Our chef will show and tell you how to do it correctly.

  • There we also cut into slices 2 tomatoes, 1 cucumber.
  • 150 - 180 g sirtaki cut into cubes.
  • 7 - 10 pitted olives cut into rings or divided into halves, do not pour out the brine from them, it will still be useful to us.
  • Half of a red or ordinary white onion is cut into half rings and scalded with boiling water to remove bitterness. Add it to the rest of the vegetables.

Preparing salad dressing

  • Mix in a cup 2 tbsp. olive oil, 1 tsp mustard, dried basil, black pepper and 1 tbsp. olive brine.
  • Mix or shake everything and pour over the salad.

We interfere with it, we try for salt, most likely it will be enough, since the dressing is quite concentrated by itself. All is ready! It is best to eat the salad right away before the vegetables start to run.

Beijing cabbage leaves can be replaced with lettuce or take ½ head of iceberg. It is no longer necessary to knead it with your hands, since the leaves are soft and juicy on their own.

Salad appetizer with sirtaki cheese and gherkins

A juicy and crunchy salad can become spicy if you add pickled gherkins in addition to fresh cucumbers.

  1. Mix in a salad bowl sliced \u200b\u200b2 tomatoes and 1 fresh cucumber with 1 chopped bell pepper.
  2. We also tear 2-3 leaves of green lettuce with our hands, cut 150 g of sirtaki into large cubes.
  3. From a 150 g jar of gherkins, pour the brine into a separate cup - we still need it. Spread the cucumbers to the rest of the vegetables, mix.
  4. In 2 tbsp. olive or refined vegetable oil, squeeze 1 clove of garlic, add 1 tbsp. brine from gherkins, shake everything until smooth and pour over the salad.

We are unlikely to need salt in this recipe - rich gherkins, cheese and dressing can do without it. Enjoy your meal!

Classic Greek salad from the chef, video recipe

Low calorie greek salad with sirtaki

In preparing this dish, the main thing to consider is the color of the vegetables used. If you really want to add a tomato, it is better to take it yellow.

  • 2-3 green lettuce leaves
  • 2 cucumbers
  • 1 small tomato,
  • 1 green juicy bell pepper
  • chopped parsley (1/2 bunch),
  • 160 g sirtaki cheese,
  • 1 tbsp olive oil.

We wash the vegetables, cut into large pieces, like cheese, season and salt. The green Greek salad looks unusually beautiful! Try it and see for yourself!

You see how simple and quick various variations of Greek salad with sirtaki cheese are prepared!

And this time I decided to cook a classic Greek salad according to all the rules, and I took Sirtaki as cheese. I bought it in the Magnit store for about 85 rubles. The package contains 330 grams, but for me this amount was too much.

Package: terribly inconvenient, you just can’t do without scissors. And besides, it's hard to cut the edges so as not to hurt the cheese itself. The cardboard is thick.

Here's what happened after opening:

but the bulk is even, so it is quite possible to cut the cheese into even cubes for salad

Compound:

Cheese "Sirtaki"

After opening, the product should be stored for 3 days, and since I don’t make such a salad every day, most of the cheese disappears, because you won’t eat much of it because of the specific taste. But here everyone has their own preferences.

Sirtaki cheese expiration date

Taste: a little salty, so I add a little salt to the ingredients for the Greek salad, but a little. It also has sourness, so I can’t eat a lot of it and add a little bit to the dish.

The texture is soft and pleasant.

For a salad, I take sweet peppers, red onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives and make a dressing. I dry the leaves on a towel after washing.

It's best to toss in the cheese cubes right before serving, otherwise it will soften as you stir.

The full recipe using Greek salad dressing is in my video:

I wish they sold packages with less cheese, because not everyone can eat it in large quantities, and the shelf life is short. Also, it would not hurt the manufacturer to improve the packaging so as not to spoil the shape of the product. And so good.

Thank you all for your feedback!

Greece has long been famous for its original and delicious dishes. They came up with a lot of unusual quality cheeses. But in order to appreciate the merits of Sirtaki cheese, you need to carefully study its features, find out to whom it is useful and to whom it is harmful.

What it is?

Sirtaki cheese is much older than the dance of the same name. It is authentically known that they began to make it about 6 thousand years ago. And until now, the Greeks themselves highly appreciate this brine product. However, it is appreciated not only by the inhabitants of the Mediterranean coast, the production of such cheese has also been mastered by many Russian factories. According to consumer reviews, it is quite close to ordinary cheese.

Composition, BJU and number of calories

Calorie content of 100 grams of high quality Sirtaki cheese is 232 kcal. The BJU formula for this product is as follows:

  • 7.2 g of protein components;
  • 22 g animal fats;
  • only 2 g of carbohydrates.

Benefit and harm

A natural product contains more protein than a comparable amount of meat and fish. This protein is well absorbed and quickly used by the body. When using Sirtaki cheese, the digestion process is facilitated and blood flow improves.

It should be noted that not any Sirtaki brings indisputable benefits. It is necessary to carefully check the information about the manufacturer and the compliance of the product with the official standards of the Russian Federation. Only this allows us to guarantee the absence of questionable components and strict adherence to technology.

According to the standard, Sirtaki should not contain even a small amount of dyes or substances that extend the shelf life.

This product also has some downsides. It is not recommended to consume a significant amount of Greek cheese (in this case, instead of stabilizing digestion, it is often even more disturbed). Obvious contraindications for Sirtaki are:

  • gastritis;
  • ulcers of the digestive system;
  • unstable work of the heart;
  • overweight in any degree;
  • allergic reactions to dairy foods;
  • tendency to edema;
  • poor tolerance to a significant amount of salt.

What can be cooked?

Recipes that use Sirtaki cheese are quite numerous. Very popular, for example, is a vegetable salad, where, in addition to this cheese, olives are also added. It is Sirtaki with its rich aroma that perfectly complements the taste of the famous Greek salad. We are talking, of course, only about a real product made on the island of Rhodes or exactly according to the technology created there. Sirtaki cheese can be used:

  • for making spanakopita pie;
  • for baking in aluminum foil;
  • for baking in pots;
  • as an independent dish;
  • for baking with sun-dried tomatoes and Mediterranean herbs in the oven;
  • in open and closed pies with spinach.

Adding it to the "Greek" salad allows you to create an amazing dish with excellent taste in an ordinary kitchen.
