The Akathist of the Mother of God to the chosen voivode is victorious to read. Russian Orthodox Akathist to the Theotokos Rejoice, Bride

Unlike most akathists, which appeared mainly in the 19th-20th centuries, the akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos Rejoice, the Unbrideed Bride is one of the most ancient. According to legend, this is the first canonical akathist accepted in the Orthodox Church for execution, and this writing is associated with miraculous cases of the liberation of Constantinople from an enemy siege. Thanks to such a historical link, the researchers were able to accurately establish the time of writing the Virgin Akathist Bride Unbrided - it was born in the 9th century.

Akathist Rejoice, Bride Not Bride: Praise of the Most Holy Theotokos

The event, thanks to which the akathist to the Bride was first read, took place in 860. We are talking about the siege of Constantinople by the troops of the Persians and Scythians. The inhabitants of the doomed city prayed all night in the Blachernae Church, asking the Most Pure Virgin to save them from mortal danger, and a miracle happened - that same night a storm arose on the sea, destroying most of the enemy ships. The surviving soldiers retreated, and the believing population of Constantinople spent the rest of the night in the temple, where the Christian akathist to Our Lady Rejoice, Unbrideed Bride, sounded for the first time.

Sabbath Observance of the Akathist Hail, Unbrided

As history testifies, in honor of the miraculous liberation, it was decided to read the akathist Bride the Unbridened annually. At first it was a holiday of local importance, celebrated in the Blachernae Church - the place of storage of the Robe of the Most Holy Theotokos, but with the spread of Christianity, it was included in the liturgical books of all local churches.

Today, the akathist to the Theotokos the Bride of the Unmarried is sung on the fifth Saturday of Great Lent. The expression "The Bride Not Bride" refers to the miraculous essence of Mary, who, being a married Woman, preserved the virginity of the Virgin.

Today, on Saturday of the Akathist, on the day of the Praise of the Most Holy Theotokos, we offer our readers the text of the Akathist with translations. One of them belongs to St. Philaret (Drozdov). Reading this translation, it sometimes seems that the saint did not dare to change the original source, its music, its breath, its structure. In other places, you understand that the "Seraphim's harp" brings its own chords to the hymn to Our Most Blessed Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary.

Kondak 1:
To the chosen Voivode, victorious, as if having got rid of the evil ones, gratefully we will describe Ty to Your servants, Mother of God, but as if having an invincible power, from all troubles of freedom, let us call Ty:

Kontakion 1, translation:
To the Commander who defends us, for deliverance from terrible troubles, we establish the triumph of victory for You, we, Your servants, the Mother of God! But You, as one who has invincible power, free us from all dangers, so we cry out to You: “Rejoice, Bride, who has not known marriage!”

Kontakion 1, translated by St. Filaret (Drozdov):
Victory gifts to the warlord who fights for us, and, as delivered from troubles, we bring thanksgiving gifts to You, Mother of God, we are Your servants: but You, as having an invincible power, free us from all dangers, but we cry out to You: Rejoice, O bride-to-be.

Ikos 1:
An angel of intercession from heaven was sent to speak to the Mother of God: Rejoice, and with a bodiless voice incarnate You in vain, Lord, terrified and standing, calling to Her like this: Rejoice, her joy will shine; Rejoice, Eyuzhe the oath will disappear. Rejoice, fallen Adam's call to salvation; Rejoice, deliverance from Eve's tears. Rejoice, height beyond the reach of human thoughts; Rejoice, depth, impenetrable even for angelic eyes. Rejoice, for You are the seat of the King; rejoice, for you bear the bearer of all things. Rejoice, star that manifests the Sun; Rejoice, womb of the Divine incarnation. Rejoice, for by You the creation is renewed; Rejoice, for in You the Creator becomes a Child.

Ikos 1, translated by St. Filaret (Drozdov):
The Primate Angel was sent from heaven to say to the Theotokos: Rejoice. A warm prayer and an invincible wall, a source of mercy, a worldly refuge, diligently crying out to Ty: Mother of God, Mistress, deliver us from troubles, one who soon intercedes.

John troparion, tone 8

The secretly commanded reception in the mind, in the blood of Joseph with diligence, appears incorporeal, saying Unskillful: He who bows the heavens with a descent, invariably fits all into Thee; Seeing him in Thy beds, having received the sign of a slave, I am horrified to call Thee: Rejoice, Bride of the Bride.

Kontakion, tone 6

The intercession of Christians is shameless, the intercession to the Creator is immutable, do not despise the voices of sinful prayers, but precede, as if Good, to help us, who faithfully call Ty: hasten to prayer and plead for supplication, intercession ever, Theotokos, who honor Thee.

Ying kontakion, tone 6

Not imams of other help, not imams of other hope, do you, the Lady, help us, we hope in You and boast in You, Thy servants, let us not be ashamed.
