“Allah (God, Lord). There is no god but Him, the eternally Living, Existing. Neither sleep nor slumber will overtake him. He owns everything in heaven and on earth. Who will intercede before Him, except by His will!? He knows what was and what will be. No one is able to comprehend even a particle of His knowledge, except by His will. Heaven and Earth are embraced by His course (Great Throne), and He does not bother to take care of them [About everything that is in our galactic system]. He is the Most High [by all characteristics above everything and everything], the Great [His greatness has no limits]!” (See, Holy Quran, Surah al-Baqarah, ayat 255 (2:255)).

Ayat "Al-Kursi" is a special verse of the Holy Quran, which has not only a deep meaning, but also the power of mystical influence. As the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, this is the greatest of the Quranic verses, because it contains evidence of monotheism, as well as the greatness and infinity of the qualities of the Almighty Creator. In this verse, in words accessible to human understanding, the Lord speaks to people about Himself and His incomparability with any objects and essences of the world He created. This verse indeed has a glorious and delightful meaning and deserves to be called the greatest of the Qur'anic verses. And if a person reads it, reflecting on its meaning and comprehending its meaning, then his heart is filled with conviction, knowledge and faith, thanks to which he protects himself from the evil machinations of Satan.

"Throne" ("al-kursi") is one of the greatest creations of the Creator. The Messenger of Allah said: “The seven heavens (Earth and heavens) in comparison with the foot of the “Throne” are like a ring thrown in the desert, and the superiority of [the] “Throne” over its foot is like the superiority of this desert over this ringlet. » no one is able to imagine in a worthy way, except Allah Almighty 2 . The above words of the verse "Al-Kursi" should not be interpreted in a literal sense. Allah cannot be limited by any space, does not need any “al-kursi” (throne, chair) or “al-‘arsh” (throne).

Ayat "Al-Kursi" in its meaning and significance is equal to one quarter of the entire Holy Quran. Ali 3, the successor of the Prophet Muhammad, spoke about the strength of his action: “I cannot understand those Muslims who, before going to bed, do not read the ayat “Al-Kursi”. If you knew how great this verse is, you would never neglect to read it, because it was given to your Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) from the treasures of al-‘Arsh. Ayat "Al-Kursi" was not given to any of the prophets before Muhammad (God bless them). And I never spend a night without reciting the verse of Al-Kursi three times [before going to bed].”

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever reads the ayat “Al-Kursi” after the prayer-prayer, he will be under the protection of Allah Almighty until the next prayer” 4. “To the one who reads the verse “Al-Kursi” after the prayer-prayer, [if he dies] nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise” 5.

The name of the verse "Al-Kursi" is sometimes erroneously written as "Ayatul Kursi". The Qur'an consists of 114 parts called suras. Surahs are made up of verses. In Surah Baqqara, verse 255 is called Al-Kursi. Hence the name - ayat "Al-Kursi". Not all verses in the Qur'an have a title.

The Great Caliph of Islam - ‘Ali (glad to Allah ‘anhu) said:

“I cannot understand those Muslims who do not read Ayatul-Kursi before going to bed. If you only knew how great this verse is, you would never neglect reading Ayatul-Kursi, because it was given to the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu ‘aleihi wa sallam) from the treasuries of Al-Arsh. Ayatul-Kursi was not sent down to any of the Prophets before the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu ‘aleihi wa sallam).

And I never go to bed

without first reading Ayatul-Kursi.”

Sayings of the Prophet Muhammad:

“Every day two angels accompany a person.

One of them often repeats: “O Allah! Increase wealth to those who spend their property on sadaqa for the poor and other noble deeds!

Another angel says: “O Allah! Deprive the good of the one who keeps his wealth only for himself!”

Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I cannot understand those Muslims who do not read Ayat ul-Kursi before going to bed. If you knew how great this verse is, you would never neglect reading it, because it was given to your Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) from the treasuries of al-Arsh. Ayat ul-Kursi was not given to any of the prophets before Muhammad (peace be upon them all). And I never spend a night without reciting Ayat ul-Kursi three times (before going to bed).”

Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Sura al-Fatiha, ayat ul-Kursi and verses from sura Bakara (18, 26 and 27), related to al-Arsh, they said: “O our Lord! You send us to the ground to the disobedient." Then Allah said to them: “I gave you such a status that those of the people who begin to read you after each prayer will be in Paradise. I will place them in Jannah (Paradise), fulfill 70 of their daily desires and keep them from all enemies.”

In a hadith from Ibn Hibban is given: “One of the significant suras of the Qur'an is “al-Baqara”, and the best verse from this sura is ayat ul-Kursi. Shaitan cannot stay in the house where the surah al-Baqarah is read, he will immediately leave it.

And Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) told the following story: “Once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed me the guardian of the zakat. And on the first night of my service, a man came and began to gather handfuls of dates. I grabbed him and said: "I will take you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."

The thief begged me to let him go: "I have to steal, I have a family, children, they are hungry and live in poverty." I took pity and let him go.

In the morning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me:

- He told about his poverty and need, I took pity and let him go.

“Don't doubt that the thief deceived you. He will come again.

After such a warning, the next night I was ready for his arrival. And soon the thief appeared again and again began to collect handfuls of dates.

I caught him and said: "I will take you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." He again asked him to let go and swore that he would not come again. And I took pity on him.

In the morning, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me:

Oh Abu Hureyra! What did you do with your yesterday's prisoner?

- O venerable and great Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he begged me and promised that he would not come again. I took pity and let him go.

“The thief has deceived you again. He will come again.

On the third night it all happened again. The thief came again and began to collect dates, I immediately grabbed him and said:

- Well, that's enough! This time I will take you to the venerable Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), especially since you have promised not to come again.

Forgive me and let me go this time too. And I will teach you the necessary prayer, for which Allah Almighty will reward you with many blessings.

- What is this prayer? I asked.

- Before going to bed, lying down in bed, read the ayat ul-Kursi, and until the morning you will be guarded by angels. You will be under the protection of Allah, and the devil will not approach you.

I did not stop the thief and let him go.

In the morning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again asked me:

Oh Abu Hureyra! What did you do with your yesterday's prisoner?

“He taught me the best prayer, beautiful words, thanks to which Allah will protect me. So I let him go.

What are these words, what is this prayer?

- Ayat ul-Kursi, - I answered the question of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

“Yes, he told you the truth, despite the fact that he is an incorrigible liar. But do you know who that thief was?

“Oh dear, no, I don’t know.

- Abu Huraira! It was Satan himself.” (Bukhari)

The importance of the verse "Al-Kursi"

It is reported that once, Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, guarding the collected zakat, caught a thief who said to him: “Let me go, and I will teach you such words that Allah will make useful for you!” Abu Hurairah asked, "What are these words?" He said: “When you go to bed, read “Ayat al-Kursi” from beginning to end, and a guardian from Allah will always be with you, and the shaitan will not be able to approach you until morning!” After that, Abu Hurayrah told the Prophet about this, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: “He really told you the truth, despite the fact that he is a notorious liar!” After that, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, told Abu Hurairah that it was Satan himself in the form of a man (Al-Bukhari "Sahih" 2311).

Ubay ibn Ka'b said: “Once the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, asked me: “O Abul-Mundhir, do you know which verse from the Book of Allah is the greatest?” I said: This is the verse which says: Allah - there is no deity worthy of worship except Him, the Living, the Almighty ...” (ayat al-Kursi) After that, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, slapped me on the chest and said: “May you be happy in knowledge, O Abul-Munzir!” (Muslim Sahih 810).

[I seek salvation from Him] from the evil whispering Satan, who retreats [at the mention of the Lord], [the Devil] who introduces confusion into the hearts of people, and from [the evil of representatives of Satan from among] genies and people».

Several semantic translations are possible: “I swear by the time interval that begins after the sun has shifted from its zenith and continues until sunset”; "I swear by the afternoon prayer."

That is, the slanderers plunged into "al-khutoma" will lose all hope of liberation, the gates of Hell will be tightly closed before them.

The Qur'anic surah tells of a historical event that took place in the year of the birth of the last messenger of the Lord Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and became a sign for people who understand.

By this time, the ancient temple of Monotheism Kaaba (see: Holy Koran, 22:26, 29) restored by the prophet Abraham was again turned by the Arabs into the main temple of their pagan pantheon. Mecca became the center of paganism, attracting pilgrims from all over the Arab East. This caused discontent of the rulers of neighboring states. Then the ruler of Yemen Abraha, in order to attract pilgrims, built a new temple, striking in its luxury and beauty. But the religious building could not become a center of pilgrimage for nomads, who still recognized only Mecca as such.

Once, a certain Bedouin-pagan, demonstrating his disrespect for the Yemeni temple, desecrated it. Upon learning of this, Abraha vowed to wipe the Kaaba off the face of the earth.

In the army equipped by him there were eight (according to other sources - twelve) elephants, which were supposed to destroy the Kaaba.

Approaching Mecca, the army of Abraha set up a camp for rest. Camels grazing in the vicinity immediately became the prey of the Yemenis. Among them were two hundred camels belonging to one of the most respected people of Mecca, ‘Abdul-Muttalib (the grandfather of the future Prophet).

In the meantime, Abraha ordered that the most respected Meccan be brought to him. The inhabitants pointed to ‘Abdul-Muttalib, who went to negotiate with Abraha. The dignity and nobility of ‘Abdul-Muttalib immediately inspired the ruler of Yemen with respect for him, and he invited the Meccan to sit next to him. "Do you have any request for me?" Abraha asked. “Yes,” said ‘Abdul-Muttalib. “I want to ask you to return my camels, which were taken away by your soldiers.” Abraha was surprised: “Seeing your noble face and courage, I sat down next to you. But when I heard you, I realized that you are a cowardly and selfish person. While I came with the intention of razing your shrine from the face of the earth, are you asking for some camels?!” “But I am only the owner of my camels, and the Lord Himself is the owner of the temple, He will save it ...” was the answer. Taking his herd, ‘Abdul-Muttalib returned to the city, abandoned by the inhabitants, who were unable to resist the huge army. Together with the people accompanying him, ‘Abdul-Muttalib prayed for a long time at the threshold of the Kaaba, offering a prayer for the salvation and preservation of the Lord’s temple, after which they left Mecca.

When Abraha's troops tried to storm the city, a miraculous sign happened: a flock of birds appeared and threw stones from burnt clay at the army. Abraha's army was destroyed. Defenseless Mecca and Kaaba were saved, for according to the plan of the Lord, a different fate was destined for them.

This story is a clear sign for those who have understanding.

See, for example: Ibn Kasir I. Tafsir al-kur'an al-'azim. T. 4. S. 584, 585.

The Lord is Almighty: He manifests His punishment through seemingly weak and defenseless creatures. So, for the refusal of the pharaoh to release Moses and his people for worship, one of the “executions of Egypt” was the invasion of toads, midges, “dog flies”, locusts that flooded all of Egypt. The "plagues of Egypt," according to the Bible, forced the pharaoh to release the people of Israel from captivity (Ex. 8:10).

About Ayat Al Kursi

Ayat Al Kursi (oyatal kursi) is the 255th verse of Sura Al Bakar (cow). (Some people believe that this ayat is a sura) Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said that this is the greatest verse of the Qur'an, because it contains in evidence of monotheism, as well as the greatness and infinity of the qualities of the Almighty. It contains "ismi ´azam", i.e. the greatest name of the Almighty.

Imam al-Bukhari in his collection of hadiths cites a hadith about his dignity: “Once, when Abu Hurairah (radiallahu anhu) was guarding the collected zakat, he caught a thief who said to him: “Let me go and I will teach you such words that Allah will make useful for you!” Abu Hurairah (radiallahu anhu) asked: “What are those words?” He said: “When you go to bed, read “ayat al-Kursi” from beginning to end, and a guardian from Allah will always be with you, and the shaitan will not be able to approach you until the morning!” After that, Abu Hurairah (radiallahu "ahnu) told the Prophet (sallallahu "alaihi wa sallam) about this, and he said: “He really told you the truth, despite the fact that he is a notorious liar!” After that, the Prophet (PBUH) told Abu Hurairah (Radiallahu “AHNU”) that it was Satan himself in the form of a man.”

Another hadith says: "When Ayatul Kursi was sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu" alayhi wa sallam), the Angel Jibrail, surrounded by 70 thousand angels, transmitted this verse, saying that "He who sincerely reads it will receive a reward as for 70 years of service to the Almighty, and whoever reads Ayatul Kursi before leaving home will be surrounded by 1,000 angels who will pray for his forgiveness."

Reading the verse of Al-Kursi is equal to reading one fourth of the Qur'an, at least listen to it constantly.

Whoever reads it will be protected from thieves and the devil. Reading this verse before entering the house drives out the shaitan from there. If you read it and blow on food and drink, it will bring a blessing, and if on things and clothes, it will protect them from the devil and the thief. Reading Ayatul Kursi will be protected from the evil of genies from morning to evening and from evening to morning.

Whoever reads the text of Ayat al Kursi constantly after each obligatory prayer, then only death separates this person from Paradise. If you read ayat al-Kursi along with the last verse of sura Al-Baqara, then the dua (prayer to the Almighty) will not go unanswered. Download Ayat Al-Kursi from the site to read 33 or 99 times daily for safety and blessings. Read 3 times before bedtime, especially if you have nightmares. Praise be to Allah, the Supreme Lord, in whose hand is power over everything and to whom you will be returned!

The hadeeth of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) states:

سئل النبيّ (صلى الله عليه وآله): أيّ آية أنزلها الله عليك أعظم؟ قال : آية الكرسيّ

Probably, the vast majority of Muslims have heard about this verse. Indeed, this is the greatest and most valuable verse from the Holy Quran. The merits of this verse simply cannot be summed up in one article. Here is the verse:

Interpretation of the verse:

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) interprets this noble verse as follows: “Allah, except for whom there is no deity, Living [who does not die], Eternally Existing [who has no beginning], dormancy [drowsiness] and sleep [heaviness] do not take possession of him. that would distract Him from control and deeds]; To him belongs whatever is in heaven [the angels] and whatever is in the earth [of creations]; who is the one who will intercede near Him [from the inhabitants of heaven and earth on the Day of Judgment], except by His permission [command] ?!; He knows what is before them [what is before the angels from the affairs of eternal life, and who will be granted the right to intercede], as well as what is behind them [from the affairs of the world], and they do not contain anything from His knowledge, except as whatever He wills [He says that the angels know nothing of the affairs of the world and akhirah except what Allah has made known to them] and His throne encompasses the heavens and the earth [He says that His throne is wider than the heavens and the earth ] and does not burden Him with the preservation of both of them [does not burden Him with the preservation of the throne and throne without the help of angels], He is the Most High [over all], the Great [the greatest over all] ”(Sura al-Baqarah, ayat 255).

The reason for sending down the verse "al-Kursi"

Once the Israelites asked the Prophet Musa (peace be upon him): “Does your Lord sleep?”, to which Musa (peace be upon him) replied: “Fear Allah!”. And then Allah, through a revelation, turned to Musa (peace be upon him): “They asked You if your Lord is sleeping?! So take two pieces of glass and hold them standing up all night without going to bed!” The Prophet (peace be upon him) did so, and when a third of the night had passed, he dozed heavily and fell to his knees. Still, he strongly held these glasses, and by the end of the night he fell asleep and dropped them, as a result of which they broke.

Then Allah, by revelation, said to Him: “O Musa! If I fell asleep, then the heavens would fall to the earth, and everything would perish, as these two glasses were broken.

Some scholars have said that perhaps this verse was revealed when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) told this particular story. And Imam al-Suyuta in the book "al-Itkan" writes that this sura was sent down at night, but did not mention this story.

Virtues of Ayah al-Kursi

When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: “Which verse, sent down by Allah to you, is the greatest?”. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: “Ayat al-Kursi”.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:

مَن قرأ أربع آيات من أوّل البقرة وآية الكرسيّ وآيتين بعدها، وثلاث آيات من آخرها، لم يرَ في نفسه وماله شيئاً يكرهه، ولا يقربه الشيطان، ولا ينسى القرآن

“Whoever reads the first four verses of Surah al-Baqarah, the verse al-Kursiy, and two verses after it (“al-Kursiy”) and three verses from its end (Surah al-Baqarah), does not sees in himself and his property something undesirable to him, Satan will not approach him, and he will not forget the Koran.

Reading of the verse "al-Kursi" after the obligatory prayers

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:

من قرأ آية الكرسي في دبر كل صلاة مكتوبة، لم يمنعه من دخول الجنة إلا الموت، ولا يواظب عليها إلا صدّيق أو عابد

“The one who reads the ayat “al-Kursiy” after the obligatory prayers, nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except death, and he will not constantly adhere to his reading, except for the righteous and the servant of Allah.”

Reading before bed

Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “Once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me to keep the zakat collected in the month of Ramadan. Later, a man came to me and began to gather food for himself. I grabbed him and said: “By Allah, I will certainly take you to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him!” He said: "Truly, I am in need, I have a large family, and I am in dire need!" Then I let him go, and in the morning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: “Oh! Abu Hurayrah, what did your prisoner do yesterday?” I replied: “O Messenger of Allah, he complained of extreme need and that he had a large family, and I took pity on him and let him go.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Truly, he lied to you, and he will return.” Thus, I knew that he would return, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, he will return,” and I began to wait for him. Soon he came and began to pick up handfuls of food for himself, and I grabbed him and said: “Verily, I will take you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!” He said: “Let me go, because I am in need, and I have (many) children, and I will not return!” Then I took pity on him and let him go, and in the morning the Messenger of Allah asked me: “O Abu Hurayrah, what did your prisoner do?” I replied: “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he complained of extreme need and that he had many children, and I took pity on him and let him go.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Truly, he lied to you, and he will return.” And I began to wait for his arrival, and when he came and again began to pick up handfuls of food for himself, I grabbed him and said: “Verily, (now) I will take you to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, because you the third time you say that you will not return, and then you return!”. He then said: “Let me go, and I will teach you words that Allah will make useful for you.” I asked, "What words?" He said: “When you go to bed, read ayat al-Kursi (from beginning to end) to the end, and a guardian from Allah will always be with you, and the shaitan will not be able to approach you until you wake up in the morning!” - and I let him go, and in the morning the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: “What did your prisoner do yesterday?” I replied: "O Messenger of Allah, he said that he would teach me such words that Allah would make useful for me, and I let him go." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: “What (these words)? "I replied:" He told me: "When you go to bed, read from the beginning to the end of the ayat al-Kursi", and he also said to me: "You will always have a guardian from Allah, and the shaitan will not be able to approach you, until you wake up in the morning!”

Further, Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“ He really told you the truth, although he is a notorious liar! Do you know with whom you spoke during these three nights, O Abu Hurayrah?” I said "No". The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “This is Satan” (Imam al-Bukhari, no. 2311).

Many hadith testify to the greatness of this verse, but we will limit ourselves to what we have given. All praise be to Allah.
