Strokes for a portrait

Position N.F. Gerasimenko on the main issues of combating tobacco smoking and the tobacco lobby (based on media appearances):
- advocates the introduction of standards for the content of tar and nicotine also in cigarettes without a filter (the position is close to the Ministry of Health, which, however, advocates the introduction of uniform standards for cigarettes with a filter and without a filter);
- against the use of the name "light" or "light";
- the size of the warning label should be at least 50%, advocates for an amendment to the draft technical regulation on the use of pictures, photographs or pictograms on cigarette packs to better illustrate the harm that smoking causes to the body;
- stands for raising prices for cigarettes, increasing excise taxes;
- advocates a complete ban on smoking in cafes, restaurants, offices.

2008 | On the official website of the Russian Anti-Tobacco Advocacy Coalition (http://www.ataca.ru/links/) there is a link to the Tobacco Lobbyists study about people promoting the interests of the tobacco industry in Russia. In it, the authors write the following: “For many years, N. Gerasimenko collaborated with the organizations “Your Choice”, “Public Council to Combat Teenage Smoking”. These organizations receive funding from the major tobacco companies (British American Tobacco, Philippe Maurice, GTI) and engage in subversion under the guise of preventing children from smoking in schools. Among the most obvious methods of work: marketing researches of smoking among teenagers and the slogan "Smoking is the choice of adults", which effectively promotes smoking among teenagers, since the main reason for children to start smoking is just an attempt to look older. Whether deputy Gerasimenko was drawn into this activity due to a misunderstanding or had other reasons for working with them - we will never know the answer to this question.
Today, the Public Council for the fight against teenage smoking is headed by Tatyana Sergeevna Markicheva.
It is also worth noting that the Russian anti-tobacco advocacy coalition (represented by Kirill Danishevsky, Andrey Demin, Alexey Shabashov) considers the Expert Council on State Regulation of the Production and Turnover of Tobacco Products under the Committee on Economic Policy and Entrepreneurship of the State Duma of the Russian Federation to be a gathering of tobacco industry lobbyists.
