Fps and ping are normal. Once again about performance: ping and fps

sergfolkner Yes, I remember the times quite recently when I played with a 3G modem, the ping was the same as you described, I still managed to enter the 1st league in the ranks and then it became impossible to play, I spent a trip no, now the ping is 15, but in general I used the Clender utility for cleaning very much convenient, cleans everything

In fact, with computers it’s the same as with an apartment: you regularly clean and throw out trash, maintain order and don’t carry anything unnecessary - and the apartment feels good and doesn’t take much time to clean. And if you have clutter and haven’t cleaned it up, sometimes it’s easier to take everything out and then you need to bring everything in and arrange it correctly, but this will take a lot of time.

Yesterday (namely September 11, 2018) there was something strange. I’ll tell you a story about my entry into the game.
at about 10:30 p.m. I entered the game (there was no sign of trouble)... started the battle.. everything loaded normally. however, from the beginning of the battle (after the countdown), the picture began to work with a huge delay. the fight was on the UTYOS map. With half-hearted grief I drove jerkily to the lighthouse. the tank froze. clap and the tank stopped responding to the keyboard. AFTER A MINUTE!!! the tower flew away from him... and an inscription appeared that I was killed...
I thought that something was lag on the server... I decided to launch the next battle (at the same time everything was working normally in the hangar)... I started the battle... and... I still couldn’t wait for it to load. I had to stop the game through the manager (ctrl+alt+del). the new upload to the server took place automatically and I find myself in a battle in which my allies are left with 4 opponents 7... I stand on my rep...
I’m flying towards fate (taking with me three shotty opponents along the way) and reading in the chat “hey, miracle, did you go smoking or something?”
did not answer.
in the end there was a victory, but history was remembered.
By the way, nothing even similar happened...

Hello to all tankers and good fights in random. Well, of course, the wedge is used, or one might even say not used, but it should be used in all such cases and not only when the game is stupid and when the browser itself is stupid.

Good evening.
In your case, system optimization, the most banal one, will help you.

  1. Download and clear the cache and registry using
  2. Free up space on hard drives (you need at least about 40% of free space from the total memory if there is only one hard drive)
  3. Getting rid of everyone background programs before starting the game (I advise you to remove mail ru products completely)
  4. Free up the desktop (reduce the number of shortcuts to a minimum, this greatly loads the RAM)
  5. You can also use the free flying utility from Doctor Web and set the simplified Windows style, as well as the “recommended” graphics settings in the game.

After completing a number of these simple steps, you will immediately notice an increase in FPS.
You can also increase the Windows swap file and lower the screen resolution in the game settings, which will also have a beneficial effect on the increase in FPS
upd.
Ping is affected by torrents and other network loads.
It is preferable to close all torrents and leave the distribution before playing.
When launching wot launcher before clicking Play I highly recommend opening it first settings and going to the tab Update uncheck Allow distribution of updates .
Well, if the family is large, there is only one Internet and everyone uses it, it is recommended to connect it to the computer from which you are playing directly via network cable, not Wi-Fi.
Happy fighting!

FPS (frame per second) or the number of frames per second is an indicator of graphics performance in computer games, in particular in the online game world of tanks. The current fps is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen.

Somehow by chance I’m in this article on www.. But nothing, there are still topics for discussion, because among them there will be an assessment of the fps indicator that is comfortable for the game, as well as methods for increasing it, improving the performance of the wot client, what to do wrong - that's simple. The fact is that the graphical performance of this computer game is far from ideal.

How many fps do you need in world of tanks for a comfortable game?

Ideally, the higher the fps, the better. A value of 80 fps is a very decent indicator; in this case, the game will be almost perfect, nothing will slow down. However, only those with powerful computers have such indicators, although other tankers can easily achieve such performance. However, in this case, 80 fps can only be achieved by significantly degrading the graphics parameters, and even then not always.

The lower limit is 30 fps, and accounting should be done using the minimum value. Naturally, if you point the camera at the gray sky of World of Tanks, the fps will be higher than in a real battle. Many tankers, despite this, manage to play at both 15 fps and 10 fps, and even win in such very limited conditions. Despite their dedication, I personally repeat their exploits on www..

Playing and fighting not only with opponents, but also with your own graphics is not a pleasant thing. The graphics will twitch and slow down, which means lost seconds and the inability to aim properly. In short, the pleasure from such a game will be questionable, and missed game moments will noticeably affect the overall combat effectiveness. However, everyone determines the level of comfortable gaming for themselves; not everyone will update their computer specifically for world of tanks.

Raising fps

But the number of frames per second in wot can be increased using less radical methods. The simplest and most effective method of increasing performance is to properly configure graphics settings. Simplify the graphics in wot until the playing conditions become comfortable, and the picture quality is as beautiful as possible. Ideally, we should achieve a trade-off between quality and performance.

First of all, you can put shadows and lighting under the knife; additional effects from explosions also put a lot of stress on the computer, but they cannot be called mandatory. This cleaning of rows will significantly increase fps in the game on the same computer. Although this method also has its fundamental limitations, when all settings have already been reduced to a minimum, you are still not satisfied with the performance.

There are additional programs for wot, which are designed to simplify the graphics even more so that it is comfortable to play even on old computers or budget laptops. Personally, I wouldn’t overestimate their capabilities; in normal mode, the standard settings of the game client are quite enough. If this means of increasing fps is not enough, then you need to consider the possibility of improving the hardware.

Total

Fps in the game should not fall below 30, this will allow you to play relatively comfortably and show everything you are capable of in the game. Ideally, frames per second should be 80-100, but it is better to evaluate your own feelings from the game. After all, not everyone is ready to play in too spartan conditions, when all the graphical frills, of which there are few in wot, will be disabled. Remember that additional mods negatively affect the performance and stability of the game client, so it is better not to abuse them.

High ping and low FPS are the most common problems of gamers in online games even in 2018. Both phenomena cause lags, disconnection and loss of nerves, which is not at all good for either the player or the team - when Fortnite lags even at minimum settings, there is no desire to play it. And the game can slow down both on a laptop and on a powerful PC. This article will suggest the best ways to solve these problems.

How to lower ping

Ping is your Internet connection level, or, more specifically, the time it takes to send a request from your computer to the server and back. Time is measured in milliseconds. So, for example, a ping rate of 120 will be a real disaster for the game, while a rate of 10 - 20 is sufficient for a comfortable and convenient pastime. First, you need to enable ping in Fortnite and look at the current indicator. To do this, go into the game session in Fortnite and go to the settings menu. In the interface tab, there will be “Statistics for network debugging”, which you change to “on”. Your ping will then be displayed in the top left corner. Now let's talk about how to reduce ping.

How to increase FPS

FPS is the number of frames per second that any video game produces. In simple terms, the higher the FPS (up to 60), the less lag and the more enjoyable the game. How to remove lags if the computer produces 10 - 20 frames per second or periodically sags? Introducing ways to increase FPS in Fortnite.

So we figured out how to maximize PC performance for your comfortable game, and make sure that Fortnite doesn’t lag. And we recommend doing everything only according to the first option in each section - you won’t have to jump with a tambourine every time.

To find a solution to the problem, let’s first understand what the subject of our question is. In online games, which include World of Tanks, ping is the time during which data from the server passes to the client. This parameter is measured in milliseconds (1000 ms = 1 second), and the lower this number, the smoother and faster your gameplay will be.

In games from Wargaming There is also such a parameter as ping. The presence of lags and friezes will depend on its size. In simple terms, the lower your ping, the better. If its performance is high, you will experience problems with your gaming experience and the smoothness of the game; lags, freezes, and freezes will appear.

Why does the ping in World of Tanks fluctuate?

The reasons for frequent changes in FPS and ping may be:

  • Communication channel occupied by other users
  • Router overload on the way to the game server
  • A large number of players or game sessions overloading the game server.

You can determine specific reasons using special programs, such as PingPlotter, allowing you to quickly find the main causes of delays and braking.

What does ping depend on in World of Tanks?

Many factors can cause your gaming session to slow down or speed up, but ping mainly depends on your internet connection provider. Why is the ping high? WoT?

  • Optimizing, protective or accelerating programs that overload the system. For example, various firewalls, firewalls, and some antiviruses.
  • The condition of your cable.
  • A server that accepts a request from a user.
  • Computer specifications.
  • Distance to remote server
  • Intentional choice by a player of a non-regional server
  • Communication quality for a specific user
  • Overloading the server with a large number of users simultaneously in the game
  • External reasons

The ping value may vary from server to server. In order to find out which server has the lowest ping, you can:

  • View in the game itself when selecting a server
  • Use the program Wot Ping Server
  • By using the application Wot Ping Clusters

How to lower ping in World of Tanks?

There are several ways to reduce ping in the game. We will look at the most effective of them.

  • Visit only those servers that are located close to you. For example, for users in Ukraine or Belarus, the fastest connection will be to a server in Moscow, and players from Novosibirsk should try a server in Krasnoyarsk. If you have problems with your server, you can try switching to another one, which will help remove your ping. The servers and their domains located in Europe and Russia are listed below:
Name Location Domain
RU1 Russia Moscow login.p1.worldoftanks.net
RU2 Russia Moscow login.p2.worldoftanks.net
RU3 Netherlands, Amsterdam login.p3.worldoftanks.net
RU4 Novosibirsk, Russia login.p4.worldoftanks.net
RU5 Russia Moscow login.p5.worldoftanks.net
RU6 Russia Moscow login.p6.worldoftanks.net
RU7 Russia Moscow login.p7.worldoftanks.net
RU8 Russia, Krasnoyarsk login.p8.worldoftanks.net
RU9 Netherlands, Amsterdam login.p9.worldoftanks.net
  • Problems can also arise from external causes : dust inside the system unit; presence of unnecessary programs; hard drive contamination.
  • Changing your ISP may be the answer to your problem. Try asking your friends/neighbors/acquaintances, those who encountered the problem of high ping and were able to solve it. After which you can begin to identify the problem with knowledge of all the issues.
  • Reducing graphics settings. If you do not have the most powerful PC and you are not satisfied with the quality of the connection to the server, then you may need to think about changing the graphics settings. This will reduce the amount of data required to be sent to the server. You can find several modifications for the World of Tanks game, like WoT Tweaker, that will help you improve performance by disabling some effects, such as clouds in the sky, smoke from a gun after a shot, etc., which will also help you remove ping in " tanks."
  • Installation of special software , aimed at increasing performance, will allow you to set maximum priority to some processes, in return reducing the flow of traffic to others. One of the most famous such programs is cFosSpeed.
  • Experimenting with system settings can have a negative impact not only on the game itself, but also on the performance of your PC. You should approach this with caution, and if you are not confident in your abilities and do not have complete confidence in the stability of your computer, then it is not worth it at all.
  • Checking your computer for viruses can also be useful. The likelihood of a traffic-consuming virus getting onto your PC is extremely low, but checking won’t be superfluous, especially if, in addition to problems with the Internet, you also have other errors.

All these tips will help you reduce the ping value in the game and normalize the process of your game.

What should the World of Tanks ping be?

Range 10 to 40 milliseconds is the most optimal indicator in WoT. If your ping is higher 40 , but lower 100 – you can rest assured that your option does not go beyond the average. Starting from the indicator in 100 milliseconds You may experience slight lags and delays. When the number exceeds 200, you are advised to look for ways to reduce it, because the game will most likely not be comfortable for you.
To demonstrate it more clearly:

  • from 10 to 40 is an excellent indicator, with it you can get the full gaming experience
  • 40~100 – average value, comfortable for most players
  • 100+ with this indicator your gaming experience will be inferior
  • If the indicator is 200+, it’s worth thinking about solving the problem.

Your task is to choose the server that is geographically closest to you, which will be helped by the table above and the tips described in the article.

How to measure ping in a game?

There are several ways to help you do this.

  • Using the command line. This well-known method is used not only to determine the ping value in the game itself, but is also widely used for various purposes, for example, in setting up a network.
  • Using the services of special Internet services. Several dozen special sites will provide you with services to measure your Internet connection, download speed, output, and ping.
  • View in the game itself. Tools for measuring the value of the desired parameter can be found in most games, which will allow you to find out its value directly during the gameplay itself. The counter can be found in the upper corner, next to the FPS value display.

Below we have tried to list some of the most popular questions on the topic and provide answers to them.

I tried the tips provided in the article but was still unable to lower my ping. What should I do?

If none of the methods presented fails to solve your problem, do not despair, try going to the official forum of the game, where both ordinary users and competent specialists from Wargaming technical support will help you solve your individual problem.

I do not live in Russia or neighboring countries, which server should I use?

In addition to servers located in the CIS, there are also representatives located in Korea, the USA and Europe. If you are a resident of one of these regions, then the best solution for you would be to connect to the server that is closest to you.

I have a good provider and a powerful PC, but the ping still fluctuates, interfering with the gameplay, what could be the reason?

1. Concepts of ping and FPS

Ping (Ping) is the time spent transmitting a request (packet of information) from client to server and back from server to client. Ping is measured in milliseconds.

Millisecond is 1/1000 of a second (one thousandth of a second).
Translated from English the word "
ping " translates as "whistle." To better understand what ping means, ping can simply be thought of as response time.
In the game Counter-Strike, ping is often called: Latency(Latency, Latency). Latency is practically synonymous with ping.
Ping (Latency) directly in the game Counter-Strike you can view in "
Homicide/death statistics" (Scores) . This menu is usually called up by pressing the key TAB. During the game, your ping value is displayed in the "Scores" menu in the line with your nickname in the " column Latency ".
Outside the game process, but with Counter-Strike running, the ping can be viewed in the server search menu "
Find servers" in the Ping column .
But the ping to a particular game server can be checked even without having or running the Counter-Strike game. To do this, you just need to check your ping using the standard Windows features available for everyone. In addition, this method is the most accurate way to check ping.
On Windows system You can easily check your ping using this method. Click the button
Start>Run , in the text field that appears, enter the following in the text field:
ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - will be the IP address of the game server)
or
ping cs.host-adres.ru (where cs.host-adres.ru - will be the host address of the game server).
But this format of the ping command does not make it possible to monitor ping changes for a long time.
In order to view changes in ping over time in a Windows system, after the IP address or host address, add the parameter separated by a space:
-t . For example like this:
ping 213.179.244.25 -t As shown in this example (Figure No. 1):

2. Concept of FPS

FPS "is an abbreviation for the English phrase" Frames Per Second ", which translated into Russian means " Frames per second ".
Now let's move on to the very concept of FPS.
FPS (FPS) is the number of frames per second on the monitor screen produced by the video card and computer. FPS usually characterizes the performance of a computer and video card.
In other words, the more fps your computer produces, the better the dynamic image will be displayed on your monitor screen.
In the game Counter-Strike, fps can be checked using the following console commands:
cl_showfps 1 or net_graph 1 (console command net_graph can take the following values: 0 , 1 , 2 , 3 ).
The more fps displayed in the game, the better it will be for you.

3. Interaction between ping and FPS

Many may ask: “How can ping and FPS interact?” I can answer right away that part of the FPS in the game Counter-Strike may depend on the ping. For example: if the connection is poor and network packets are lost (due to poor ping), the fps in your game may drop by an order of magnitude. For this purpose, the developers of CS specifically included in network monitoring

net_graph counting not only network packets, but also fps.
Ping can also depend on FPS in some cases.
Thus, we came to the conclusion that lowering ping and increasing FPS is best considered in one article.

4. Ways to lower ping

This section of the article discusses almost all ways to lower ping in the game Counter-Strike. All theoretical and practical ways to lower ping are discussed here.

Ways to lower ping in Counter-Strike: 1) Improve your Internet channel . If you have Dial-up Internet connection (via a regular modem) orSatellite Internet- we strongly recommend that you switch to other types of Internet connection (we recommend LAN or ADSL connection). Even with the best dial-up connection and the best satellite Internet, the ping in your game will be at least 200 milliseconds. The following connection types are good for gaming with good ping:leased lines (LAN); ADSL and xDSL - modem connections; ISDN ; and some typeswireless access (Wi-Fi).
2) Reduce the number of intermediate routers . An intermediate router is a network device, based on information about the network topology and certain rules, that makes decisions about forwarding network layer packets between different network segments. As you know, the entire Internet is built on intermediate routers - Internet servers. The fewer intermediate routers, the better the condition for ping the game. If you connect to the Internet through a huge number of servers or switches, then it’s time for you to think about how to reduce them. There is such a possibility - the greater the distance to the game server, the more intermediate routers are on the way to connect the game to the game server.
In order to check how many intermediate routers are on the connection path to the game server, there is one very simple and useful Windows operating system command. This command is called
tracert . The path to the game server is called a network route. In order to check this network route and the number of routers, you need to click the button in WindowsStart>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt, or in Windows 95, 98: Start>Programs>MsDOS Command Prompt. In the command line that appears, you need to write the following:
tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx will be the IP address or host address of the game server).
For example like this:
tracert cs.kharkov.ukrtel.net An example of a trace in Figure 2:

3) Reduce the distance to the game server . In other words: choose game servers that are as close as possible to your Internet provider. To play with lower ping, it is best to play on servers that are located in your city or in your country or nearby countries. Theoretically, this method of lowering ping can be attributed to the previous method, but in practice differences can be found. For example, the situation in Ukraine is not entirely ideal. There are two global Internet networks in Ukraine: Ukrtelecom And UA-iX. That is, traffic on the Ukrainian Internet can be divided into two parts:Ukrtelecom-traffic and on UA-iX traffic . The most interesting thing is that these two traffic exchange points are not connected to each other. Traffic between two exchange points is sent through a completely different country - through Germany. In my opinion, this was done very irrationally. Thus, all Internet users in Ukraine, as well as game servers in Ukraine, are located in 2 different traffic exchange points: in the UA-iX zone and in the Ukrtelecom (Ukrtel-IX) zone. They have to constantly choose a Ukrainian game server that will fully comply with their Internet traffic. Otherwise, the ping will be above 100 ms.
Unlike Ukraine, the situation in Russia is completely different. There is one unified traffic exchange system and it is called RU-net.
To check the route and approximate distance of network traffic to your game server, see method No. 2 above.
4) Increase your connection speed . Ping in a CS game is practically independent of Internet speed. Ping is a completely different concept. Although in a CS game, ping can depend on speed only in one case - if, for example, the connection speed is less than 32 kbps. But now, almost everywhere, from any provider, the Internet speed is no lower than 128 kbps. Then, you ask: why do you need to increase the speed further? I answer. Speed when playing online in Counter-Strike can be viewed from this perspective: the higher the speed of your Internet channel, the more real and better you can configure the network settings of your game - the ratio of low ping and pleasant, comfortable game. By a pleasant and comfortable game, I mean the scoring and geometry of firing cartridges (accuracy, spacing) when shooting at the enemy.
Console commands that are designed to change the game’s network settings are explained in the following 5th method of lowering ping.
5) Optimize your game's network settings correctly . You can devote an entire article to this method, but you can also write about it briefly. The main network settings of the game are regulated by the following 4 console commands: rate, cl_cmdrate, cl_updaterate, cl_rate (the fourth last command, as a rule, does not change and should have the value 9999, but when playing on some game servers it can be changed). So you need to learn how to match values in 3 main network commands:.
Now a little more about these commands.
rate is a console command that sets the size of transmitted information per 1 second in bytes.
cl_updaterate is a command that sets the number of packets that the client receives from the server. To determine the size of one packet received in bytes, just divide the rate by this amount.
cl_cmdrate is a command that sets the number of network packets that are sent from the client to the server (your computer). To determine the size of one packet sent in bytes, just divide cl_rate by this amount.
Command meaning
rate should always be much greater than the values in the cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate commands. The most used values for this command, depending on the speed and load of your Internet channel: 2500, 3500, 4500, 7500, 10000, 14000, 18000, 20000, 25000.

5. Ways to increase FPS

This part describes all possible ways to increase FPS. For a general overview of these methods, a list of all possible methods is briefly displayed below. And below is their full description.

1) Disable Vsync in the video card settings if you are using LCD (LCD, TFT) monitor. This necessary to achieve 100 fps and above. This item is not intended for owners of CRT monitors. If you have a CRT monitor, then the FPS in the game can be increased without removing vertical synchronization.
2) Launch the game in developer mode (in developer mode ). To do this, you will need to add the parameter-dev in the properties of the game shortcut.
3) Add more FPS to the game . You can register more FPS using the console command fps_max (in normal mode its maximum value is 101 , for developer - as much as you write, the main thing is that your computer can reproduce that much).
4) Increase monitor frequency in game . In the game shortcut settings, set the maximum frequency value for your monitor (hz). Hertz for a monitor in CS is set by the parameter-freq , which is registered in the properties of the shortcut to the game Counter-Strike. Before writing this value, it is recommended to find out the technical characteristics of the monitor, namely the maximum value Hz for your monitor. Typically, for an LCD monitor this is 75 hz, but there are exceptions. Also keep in mind that, for example, for a CRT monitor for a particular screen resolution, there may be a maximum value hz.
5) Optimize (speed up) the operating system Windows (9x, XP, Vista);
6) Update to newer drivers or be sure to install if the necessary drivers forvideo card, monitor and motherboard.
7) Overclock the processor and video card . We recommend overclocking only to experienced users.
8) Improve the technical configuration of your computer (Hardware). For example: purchase better components.
9) Register specific console commands , which optimize the game graphically. After this, the game may not look so beautiful.

The above methods #1, #2, #3, #4 and #6 are methods that relate to software-configurable settings of your operating system and CS game. Even with the most powerful computer without these settings, you will have Counter-Strike running with low fps and hz values. The remaining methods: No. 5, No. 7, No. 8, No. 9 are recommended for use when the computer’s technical equipment is weak for a more convenient game of Counter-Strike.

And now in more detail about the above methods of increasing FPS.

How to remove vertical sync

If you have an LCD monitor and you decide to use method No. 1 - remove vertical sync: then to do this you will need to remove vertical sync in the video card settings.
To do this, right-click on an empty area of the desktop, then in the context menu that appears, select "
Properties ". In the window that appears " Screen Properties "go to bookmark" Options ". Next on this tab, click on the button " Additionally ". In the window that appears, go to the tab with the name of your Video card (NVIDIA, ATI or other video cards). As a rule, this tab will be somehow highlighted or colorfully designed. Next in the settings window of your video card (on the control panel of your video card) - you will depending on the name of your video card ( NVIDIA GeForce or ATI Radeon) go to3D graphics settings or just in graphics options or in 3D application settings. Next, after going to the 3D graphics settings in the list of settings, you need to find the item corresponding to synchronization (depending on the interface of the video card control panel): this can be or "Vertical Sync", or " Vertical sync pulse", or simply "Synchronization ".
Further in this settings item you will need
disable vertical sync . Change value from on on off or with 3D application control on Disable(depending on the settings interface).
Remember that turning off vertical sync will affect the graphic settings of all your games running on this operating system. All of them will run without vertical sync.
An example of disabling vertical synchronization in the NVIDIA panel settings (Figure No. 3):

If you have an LCD monitor and you decide to use method No. 1 to increase the FPS to 99 or 100 (also up to 101 - 110), but no more, then remember: if you remove vertical synchronization, you will encounter such minor problems, but that’s all as well as negative points:
a) Non-synchronous vertical screen updates will be barely noticeable on the screen (that is, you will see horizontal stripes from screen updates).
b) If your LCD monitor has a maximum permissible hertz value lower than the fps value of 100, then when playing at 99 - 101 fps, you will encounter the problem of visible, barely noticeable graphics jerks. Which is also not very pleasant.
c) When vertical synchronization is turned off in the video card settings, all other games on your computer will also launch without vertical synchronization.
But of course, you can always quickly return all the values back. To do this, read the higher half of this section.
So before setting your LCD monitor to 99 - 101 fps, think about whether you will sacrifice the beautiful dynamic and graphical process of the Counter-Strike game for the sake of increasing the fps by only 27-28 frames. The game could easily suit you with values of 75 fps and 75 hz.
If you decide to return the default vertical sync value, then read the information about this in the first half of this section and return all video card settings to their original place. Next, in the corresponding vertical sync control settings, select the value Use 3D Application Setting. If there is no such item in the video card settings, then simply select the value on or Turn on.

How to increase the number of hertz on your monitor in the game Counter-Strike

For a more correct and timely display of the game process, and in some cases even to increase FPS, we recommend that you take a closer look at method No. 4 of increasing FPS. This method is closely related to method No. 1.
As a rule, when the FPS increases, it is recommended to increase the Hertz value to refresh the monitor screen as quickly as possible.
To maximize the hertz on the screen, we recommend that you install or update drivers for your monitor. For example, if you are using an LCD monitor, then it is advisable to increase hz to a value of 75. If you are using a CRT monitor (tubular monitor), then it is advisable to increase the hz value to 100 or higher.
Remember that the maximum hertz value may depend on different screen resolutions in the Windows system (as a rule, this thesis of increasing hertz for a particular screen resolution 640/480, 800/600, 1024/768, 1280/960 - applies only to CRT monitors) .
In order to find out what maximum permissible hz value can be displayed in a particular screen resolution on your CRT monitor, we advise you to view the list of permissible hz values for a particular resolution in the documentation for your monitor. You can also view this list in the standard Windows way. To do this, log into the Windows system at
Display Properties go to the Settings tab and go to Additional settings.
And so, in order to view the maximum permissible hertz values in the standard Windows way, follow these steps sequentially: Click on an empty space on the desktop
right click, then in the context menu that appears, select " Properties ". In the window that appears " Screen Properties "go to bookmark" Options ". Next on this tab, click on the button " Additionally ". In the window that appears, go to the tab Monitor(for Windows XP) and bookmark Adapter(for Windows 95, 98). In the window that appears, make sure that the checkbox is checked.Hide modes that the monitor cannot use". Further, in the same window under "Screen refresh rate" in the drop-down menu, view all the maximum permissible hz values that your monitor supports.
But remember, that if you use the maximum screen resolution when working in Windows, then the maximum permissible hertz values for a lower resolution will be hidden in this drop-down menu. To do this - to properly check the permissible frequencies, before you view the maximum permissible hertz values for a particular screen resolution - we advise you to simply reduce the screen resolution to the one on which you play the game Counter-Strike. After this check, you can change the Windows screen resolution to its original value.
And so, in order to increase the maximum monitor hertz value in the game Counter-Strike - for this you will need to add a parameter
-freq on the "Shortcut" tab " in the properties of the shortcut to the game Counter-Strike.

For example, for an LCD monitor, it is advisable to specify the following values in the shortcut properties (in detail using the example of hz and fps):

C:\Games\CS1.6FULv33\hl.exe -game cstrike -freq 75 +fps_max 75
But if you still decide to play on an LCD monitor with 100 fps, then you need to enter the following values (in detail using the example of hz and fps):
C:\Games\CS1.6FULv33\hl.exe -game cstrike -freq 75 +fps_max 101

And for a CRT monitor, it is advisable to specify the following values in the properties of the shortcut (in detail using the example of hz and fps):

C:\Games\CS1.6FULv33\hl.exe -game cstrike -freq 100 +fps_max 101An example of changing the properties of a shortcut is shown in Figure 4:

6. Reducing and optimizing ping in the Windows 7 operating system

Since, relatively recently, at the end of 2009, a new operating system was released

7. Simultaneously lower ping and increase FPS

We present to your attention a unique method of simultaneously lowering ping and increasing FPS (a method of lowering Latency and simultaneously increasing FPS above 101 fps). If you play Counter-Strike over the Internet or on a local network at home (via a LAN or the Internet), then you can constantly and often use this method in practice. But this method will be effective only for those who own powerful computers to run HL and CS games.
This method of simultaneously lowering ping and increasing FPS is unique in that the PING and FPS values are significantly improved simultaneously on the game side of the Counter-Strike client. Also, this method is unique in that we (administrators of the site http://site) were the first to, through repeated tests to increase FPS and lower ping, come to the conclusion that this method is the best of the existing software-customizable methods of lowering ping and significantly increase FPS in the game Counter-Strike.
And so, let's proceed to a more detailed consideration of the universal method of lowering ping and increasing FPS.
This method is based on method No. 2 of section No. 5 of increasing FPS (read above). It consists of increasing FPS and decreasing ping by running the Counter-Strike game in

developer (in developer mode).
Developer Mode- this is a mode for launching the game Half-Life, Counter-Strike, as well as other HL mods in a more productive open mode with some accessible hidden game features, which are usually needed for testing and creating additional software components for the game Half-Life and Counter-Strike. In this mode, in Half-Life games and its mods, there is the only opportunity to increase the number of fps above 100.
But the most important thing is that in developer mode it is also possible to reduce latency (ping) by 1.1 - 2 times when playing on various Counter-Strike and Half-Life game servers.
And so, so that you can launch the game in developer mode (in developer mode). To do this, you will need to add a launch parameter in the properties of the shortcut to the game in which you are going to play with developer mode (in CS, HL and other mods)
-dev . It will look like this (see example in Figure No. 5):

After launching the game in developer mode, the first symptom of the game launching correctly is a partial change in the color of the vast majority of the font in the game console (usually a yellow font). Also, the main property of launching the game correctly is the display of detailed information in the console after each action during the game. This property, at high display speed, can partially prevent you from reading information that is important to you in the console (as a rule, this is chat, who was killed, who threw a grenade).

Example of a console after launching the game in developer mode (Figure 6):

In order to view the number of FPS - enter the parameter for the game console

cl_showfps 1 . View of Counter-Strike after launching the game in developer mode (Figure 7):

You are probably asking now - how can you reduce ping and increase the number of FPS?
We answer in order (point by point):
1) To begin with, after you have entered the game in developer mode - do not forget to visually display the number of FPS - enter the parameter in the game console:

cl_showfps 1 .
2) Then you need to start raising the number of fps in the game above 101. This can be done by entering the parameter in the game console
fps_max - asking him definitelyhigher value than 101. We recommend raising the maximum value fps_max as high as possible: it is advisable to do this up to the point at which the game FPS value will hardly fluctuate significantly. To do this, it is recommended to use the fps_max command to select the maximum FPS value for different cards differently, since when playing on different cards, your game may produce different FPS values.Examples of increasing and displaying FPS in Figures 8 and 9:

3) Then in the game console you need to set the optimal ping value using console commands:

. In more detail than here, you can read about these network console commands in the article: Optimizing CS with high ping.
Now more about method No. 3. When selecting values in console commands
rate, cl_cmdrate, cl_updaterate- these values should be set based on the main network parameter rate. Parameter rate is responsible for the amount of information flow within 1 second - in bytes. By default in the game this value is 7500 (bytes). But, if you have fairly good and fast Internet (256 kbps and above), we recommend that you raise it to at least 10,000 - 25,000.
After raising the value in the parameter
rate - we recommend that you proceed to selecting the values in the parameters cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate . These commands are responsible for the transmitted and received number of information packets within 1 second. For good ping, we do not advise you to raise them too high. The default values for these commands are: cl_cmdrate 25 , cl_updaterate 20 . You can check the standard values of all network rate commands in the console yourself; for this you just need to download Counter-Strike (full clean version 6) and update it to the latest version by installing the latest CS patch.
But with very low standard values, it will still not be convenient to play, since shooting accuracy and scoring in the Counter-Strike game may depend on these parameters. When selecting the last 2 parameters, we recommend that you always use the same values in the cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate parameters. For example:
cl_cmdrate 45, cl_updaterate 45. And now in more detail about these two teams. Parameter values cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate are responsible for loading the server and channel. The more packets of information you send, the more loaded your computer and the server computer are. For a more effective understanding of these meanings, a simple example can be given. When you peel one, but large potato, you can handle it easily and quickly, but when you replace one large potato with 5 very small potatoes (but the same in weight as one large one) - peeling them will take an order of magnitude longer than if you would peel 1 large potato once. The same thing happens with the server and with your computer when you try to correctly process small but very large numbers of network packets with information, and also give a timely response to them. The greater the number of packets, the more the server response time increases, and accordingly your ping.
And so, to effectively reduce ping when selecting values
cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate - you need to try to increase the ratio of these values as much as possible in relation to rate . But in order to understand how to correctly determine the ratio of these values, first I recommend that you find out the range of these values, since the range of command values rate from the cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate commands very different.
Range of values
rate, cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate (in numbers):
1) The team
rate range: from 1000 - 25000 (bytes) (but can be higher). It is not recommended to use the values above.
2) For teams
cl_cmdrate , cl_updaterate range from 10 - 101 (packets). The maximum values may be higher, but it is highly recommended not to increase them.
The range of these two, one might say, different subtypes of commands needs to be figuratively compared to each other (rate compared with cl_cmdrate, cl_updaterate). For example, the ratio of the values rate 12500 cl_cmdrate 50 cl_updaterate 50 can be called the same. Since the values of all the above commands are in the same ratio to their range (half of the range - 1/2). Based on the range of values for a particular console command, the value rate 12500 can be equated to the values cl_cmdrate 50 and cl_updaterate 50. Since the values 12500, 50, 50 can be equated to half the range of a particular command. (12500 is half the range of the rate command. 50 is half the range of the cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate commands).
Now let's get back to lowering the ping. If you equate all value ranges to each other, then the greater the difference between the rate value and the cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate values, the lower your ping will be.
To effectively reduce ping, the most important thing is not to forget, before selecting the values of cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate - select the correct parameter value
rate . This value should depend on the Internet speed and sometimes the load on your channel. Since the rate value is measured in bytes and is responsible for traffic.
Then, using the cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate commands, you have to select and set as much difference in the range between the values as possible
rate and cl_cmdrate, cl_updaterate . In this case, the range value rate must always be greater than the cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate commands.
I give an example, in my opinion, of the correct values for effective ping reduction:
rate 14000 , cl_cmdrate 35 , cl_updaterate 35.An example of an increase in fps and a decrease in ping in Figures 10 and 11:

Test as an example of reducing Latency in CS by 1.5 - 2 times

To conduct the test, before launching the game, the ping to the Ukrtelecom game server was tested using the ping system command (with the -t parameter). As a result, it ranged from 13 - 18 mc. But for the most part, the ping stayed at around 14-16 ms.

An example of checking ping in Windows using the ping system command is shown in Figure 12:

After this, the game was launched in mode

developer (in developer mode), after which we immediately joined the above Ukrtelecom game server at the following address: 213.179.244.25:27017 .
Immediately after connecting to the server, the following console commands were registered in the game console:
fps_max 350, rate 20000, cl_updaterate 30, cl_cmdrate 30 . In the game statistics menu (Scores), Latency (ping) immediately dropped by almost 2 times. From 16-19 ms to 7-10 ms. And in the net_graph menu, the latency was constantly jumping from 0 - 9 ms.An example of simultaneously reducing ping and increasing FPS (Figure No. 13):

As you can see, the result of lowering the ping is positive and very impressive. The latency in the game can be reduced by almost 2 times. You probably ask: “Why is the result of a ping test through a Windows system and through a game so different?” Most likely because Latency does not accurately reflect the network ping value. Latency (ping), from the point of view of game developers, is most likely (on the contrary) the reaction time of the client’s computer to the server’s request. And the latency values that are displayed in the graph

net_graph 1 - it can also differ significantly from the value that is displayed in the game statistics menu (Scores). This is primarily due to the update time of the game statistics menu (the game statistics menu is updated every 2 seconds, and the no_graph menu is updated much more often). Secondly, the difference may lie in some other features of the game when transferring packets and updating fps. Due to this, Latency in the game Counter-Strike differs from the network ping we are used to. Although Latency is very close to it in approximate value.
But, nevertheless, no matter how good this method of reduction is, this method has not only pros, but also cons (this method of reducing ping and increasing FPS). In order to consider them and decide for yourself whether or not it is worth using this method of lowering ping in practice, we suggest considering all the pros and cons of using this method (its positive and negative sides: pros and cons).

Pros (positive points):
1) Reducing ping by 1.2 - 3 times;
2) The ability to play on those game servers that use a limited ping level (ping limit);
3) Increasing the number of FPS (frames per second displayed on the monitor);
4) The “counting” of hits on the enemy is improving (the scoring in the CS game is getting better).
5) Recoil and spray are reduced (the spread of cartridges when firing from a weapon is reduced).

Cons (negative points):
1) A slight slowdown in movement (the movement of your human model on the map). But, in principle, it is not so noticeable.
2) Changing the dynamics of jumping (jumping becomes unusual compared to the usual mode). Although, during our checks, it turned out that jumping in a new way can also be learned, but this takes time.
3) It is possible that when playing in a computer club or while participating in some tournaments and competitions in computer games, you will not have access to the operating system and CS settings, and perhaps this will be prohibited by the rules of the club or tournament. As a result, there is a possibility that you will not be able to use this method in a computer club or at a computer championship.

But one way or another, if you weigh the pros and cons, we believe that this method of lowering ping has more advantages than disadvantages, therefore, this method can be used in practice. At least when necessary.

Summing up

Now that you have fully read and understood our universal method of how to significantly reduce ping and increase the number of fps in Counter-Strike by an order of magnitude, we can now sum up. As you probably already guessed. Latency in Counter-Strike depends partly on the number of fps. The higher the fps, the partially lower the Latensi value becomes. This can be easily checked. Go to the CS game in developer mode, join the server - first register in the console

cl_showfps 1 then fps_max 101 . Check what your ping will be. After this, begin to consistently (step by step) increase the amount fps using the command fps_max and at the same time monitor the ping. The ping is updated in the score table within 2 seconds after the new value is applied. Keep this in mind when checking your ping.
This method of lowering ping and increasing FPS can be useful in many cases. Firstly, FPS increases and ping decreases at the same time. Secondly, it may be useful to you when playing on game servers that have a Latency (ping) limit. For example, you can choose the value of the network settings so that on servers where you were previously constantly kicked out, now you won’t be automatically kicked and you can play calmly and for a long time.
You probably have the following questions: "
Well, how is ping related to FPS?", " What is this connected with?"- you ask. And this is connected with the engine and with the peculiarity of the Counter-Strike game. With the fact that in the Counter-Strike game, when the load on the computer processor increases, the latency (ping) in the game can drop significantly. This can be easily demonstrated on a dedicated Counter-Strike server (on hlds.exe). When you launch a dedicated server, then connect a Counter-Strike client to it, the ping on the client side will not be very good. And when, after launching a dedicated server, you also launch a video player and launch also video in addition - the joined Counter-Strike client will have a much lower ping than before the video was launched on the same computer with the server running.

The conclusion follows from this. The more you raise the fps value in the game, the more the processor is loaded and the lower your ping becomes. But you should not abuse the computer load in the game. Everything should be in moderation.

Good luck...
