In Russia in the fall and on the post-Christmas days, after the end of the fast, there was a grandiose holiday - the day of porridge. And we guys will learn a lot of interesting things about porridge today. For our ancestors, porridge was a festive dish and far from simple. At any walk, rite, porridge occupied one of the main places. Many folk signs about porridge have survived to this day.

There is a lot of porridge in the field, to be hay.

The gruel in the oven blushes, in the summer to rain, in winter to snow.

Porridge from the pot will come out of the oven - for worse, into the oven - for good.

Teacher. One of the main dishes of our grandfathers was porridge. Our ancestors called groats “falling asleep”. Hence the word "sleep". Crushed cereals were called "vargenya". From it it was possible to cook hastily - "bung". And what does the expression "bang up" mean today?

To cook, to do something hastily, quickly.

The choice of cereals in Russian cuisine was very wide. They were cooked from barley, millet, oats. They were flavored with oil. Rich people - poppy, walnut, poor - linen, hemp.

Leading. Shchi and porridge are our food. No wonder people say so. Russian people eat porridge with pleasure: tasty, satisfying, healthy. Preparing without fuss, especially needed for children.

Guys! You also often eat porridge in the dining room. Many do not want to eat it, they act like these 2 girls:

Girl-1. Porridge, porridge - I don’t want it, I’d rather swallow Snickers!

Girl-2. And my name is Alina, I don’t want porridge either!

I want marelade for breakfast, I want chocolate!

Leading. Oh, you are my stupid, my unreasonable! Eat porridge, eat! Yes, listen to her!

How did porridge appear on our table?

The foremother of bread is called by the people. They say that once an ancient culinary specialist cooked porridge, and inadvertently poured cereals more than expected. The mistake turned into a bug. At first, people were upset with the cook, and then they tried a new dish. So people say - bread appeared from porridge.

Hence the saying: "Porridge is our mother."

The Russians had a custom: at the conclusion of a peace treaty, together with former enemies, they cooked porridge and ate it as a sign of reconciliation. Hence the saying: “You can’t cook porridge with him!”

Christmas holidays, christenings, funerals and other events in the life of the people in Russia could not do without porridge.

Teacher. (presentation) Today, guys, we will go to the house of a Russian who lived 300 years ago. In those days, even 2-storey houses were a rarity. They were built only by the richest people.

So, let's try to imagine the house of a Russian in antiquity.

Previously, they didn’t say “house”, but they said “hut”. The hut is a warm half of the house with a stove. The name comes from "stoke", "firebox". There is nowhere in the world a more comfortable home than our Russian hut, cut down from pine logs! She will save from the cold, and warm with the warmth of the tree, and cure with the pine spirit.

In your opinion, what should have been installed in the hut in the first place, where to start? The proverb says: "The peasant is quick-witted - he put a hut on the stove!" The most important and necessary thing in the house was the stove. In the old days there was even a saying: "Dance from the stove." During the harsh Russian winters, it was impossible to do without a stove. Food was cooked in it, bread was baked, grass was dried. Old people and children slept on it. You could wash in the oven.

Leading. The stove occupied a place of honor in the house. She had to be treated with respect. The stove is a village nurse. How the hostess gets up in the morning. So the first thing he starts is to melt the stove, and put cast iron in it. The first is for cabbage soup, the second is for porridge, and the third is for every need.

All day the stove puffs, tries. She bakes bread for the whole family, kalachi for small children. Such a glorious stove was in a Russian house!

Brownie appears: The stove itself is good. She bakes pies and cooks cabbage soup! And people strive to eat everything themselves, they don’t leave me anything!

3rd student. If you, Brownie, live in harmony with the owners, then you take care of the cattle, comb the mane of the horses, and sometimes even wash the dishes! And if you get angry, you mix up the mane of horses, steal milk from cows.

Dear Brownie, from time immemorial you have been honored in Russia, they could not imagine their home without you!

Leading. Wooden figures of bearded people - Churov personified the ancestors of one kind or another. To this day, the expression has survived: "Keep away from me!".

4th student. In addition to Domovoy and Churov, the Dvorovoy family, Skotnik, and Kutny God guarded the family. They were kind. But there was also an evil spirit - Bannik. They cut a black chicken for him to appease him.

Diagonally from the furnace was the Red Corner. This is the most holy place, there were icons in it. Everyone who entered the hut had to cross himself. The table was placed in the Red corner. Along the table were benches and benches. Are benches and benches the same thing? What is the difference?

5th student. The benches were made wide and attached to the walls of the hut. You could sleep on them. And they sat on the benches. They could be moved. And in the houses there were lockers, chests - that's all the furniture!

What is your favorite cereal?

Porridges are about 200-350 kcal per 100 g, but they saturate the body with vitamins and minerals, help to lose weight and energize the body.

Barley porridge

Pearl barley can be used for breakfast and lunch, but you should first soak it for an hour. It can be combined with meat, vegetables and even dried fruits. Vitamin B in the composition normalizes the functioning of the nervous system, which is simply necessary in the autumn season, and vitamin E helps to get rid of dryness and tightness of the skin.

The uniqueness of pearl barley is that the cereal helps to neutralize allergic reactions. But experts advise pregnant women not to get carried away with this porridge, as it contains gluten, a substance that can adversely affect the development of the fetus.

Couscous

Couscous is made from durum wheat, millet, barley or rice. The composition contains vitamin B5, which fights chronic fatigue, strengthens the immune system and copes with insomnia. This cereal increases the level of hemoglobin, which is important in the autumn period. With the help of couscous, you can deliciously lose weight. Fiber in the composition reduces the secretion of ghrelin, a hormone that provokes overeating. This porridge is convenient because it takes only 1-2 minutes to cook, so it can be safely consumed for breakfast. You can boil, steam or just pour hot broth and leave for 10 minutes. Couscous goes well with meat, fish and vegetables.

Bulgur

A popular bulgur is a cereal made from wheat. This porridge will help diversify the autumn diet. The product is well absorbed by the body and is considered a "winter" food, as it has a warming effect. This porridge is valued for the presence of iron, potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus, magnesium and B vitamins. One of the important beneficial properties is cancer protection. Bulgur can be cooked in chicken or vegetable broth, for losing weight - in water.

corn

Polenta in Italy, banoche in Ukraine, and these dishes are prepared from corn grits.

Corn grits is a low allergenic product that can be used in baby food. The benefit of porridge is that after heat treatment all useful minerals and vitamins are preserved: potassium, sodium, vitamins of group B, as well as E, A and PP. The composition also contains folic acid, which is necessary during pregnancy. Cooking corn grits is simple, just boil in chicken broth or water, adding butter to taste, cheese, cottage cheese or vegetables. Porridge also goes well with any kind of meat.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal can be cooked both in milk and in water (of course, it tastes better in milk), in both cases it will not lose its beneficial properties. And there are a lot of them. Oatmeal is rich in magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, iron, B vitamins and fiber. In addition, oats contain many antioxidants - among them there is a unique one called avenanthramides. According to this study, such an antioxidant has anti-inflammatory properties. Oats are also high in beta-glucan, a type of soluble fiber. The benefits of beta-glucan for the body and health are enormous. First, it lowers "bad" cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Secondly, it promotes the growth of good bacteria in the digestive tract. And thirdly, it perfectly saturates and suppresses the feeling of hunger.

Buckwheat

We adore buckwheat and will never stop praising its valuable properties for the body, which you probably already know about. But we will remind you just in case. Buckwheat contains a lot of useful elements and substances, such as phosphorus, zinc, iron, vitamin B6, folic and pantothenic acid. According to studies, buckwheat lowers "bad" cholesterol levels, helps prevent heart disease and fight high blood pressure. In addition, buckwheat is an excellent source of vegetable protein, which is why all athletes, vegetarians and people who want to lose weight love it so much. Buckwheat helps relieve diabetes. In one study, a group of people with diabetes ate buckwheat porridge for two months. At the end of the experiment, the participants found they felt better and noticed a decrease in insulin resistance without any medication. Buckwheat is often compared to the newfangled quinoa - they contain about the same amount of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, but buckwheat is much cheaper. Buckwheat is also loved because it has a low glycemic index and belongs to the gluten-free food group.

Millet porridge

Millet is a very healthy, tasty and nutritious porridge. Surely everyone associates her with childhood, which is why so many people still love her. In addition to a pleasant taste, millet porridge boasts important properties. Studies show that millet helps to improve the condition of bronchial asthma, and may even prevent its occurrence. Also, this cereal reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes - it contains a lot of magnesium. This element is just the main "fighter" with this disease. Millet is a source of not only magnesium, but also calcium, copper, manganese, phosphorus, iron, B vitamins and various useful substances, such as leucine, tryptophan, threonine and histidine.

Spelled porridge

In the wake of following a healthy lifestyle, spelled has gained particular popularity only now, although this grain appeared a very, very long time ago - about 5-6 thousand years before our era. Spelled flour, spelled pasta, spelled flakes - everyone seems to have heard about them, but they do not know what useful properties spelled has. Now we will tell you - there is something! Spelled groats are rich in various microelements - iron, phosphorus, zinc, potassium - and substances. Among these substances, nicotinic and folic acid and thiamine can be distinguished. Nicotinic acid plays a key role in the proper functioning of the endocrine system. Folic acid reduces the risk of heart disease and seizures, and can also protect the fetus from the development of defects during a woman's pregnancy. Thanks to the same minerals - zinc, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, selenium - spelled has a positive effect on bone health and prevents the development of osteoporosis.

Flaxseed porridge

Just like spelled, supporters of a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition have recently remembered about flaxseed porridge. And they remembered not in vain: flaxseed porridge is a storehouse of vitamins and valuable elements. Among many substances, omega-3 fatty acids, lignans, soluble and insoluble fiber can be distinguished. Omega-3s are known as the "good" fats and are considered extremely beneficial for heart health. Lignans are plant phytoestrogens that have antioxidant properties, which means they can fight cancer. According to Kelly Fitzpatrick, director of health and nutrition at The Flax Council of Canada, recent studies have shown that flaxseed protects against the occurrence of breast, prostate and colon cancer.

Rice porrige

White polished rice, as you know, is not the most useful product. In the course of processing, the grain loses all valuable substances and, consequently, its properties. But if you are not ready to deny yourself rice porridge with milk (and it’s really very tasty), then sometimes you can still treat yourself to this dish for breakfast - try making porridge from brown rice, which just contains a lot of vitamins, especially B vitamins, and trace elements such as magnesium, manganese and calcium.

Semolina

Whether we wanted it or not, literally every one of us ate semolina porridge in kindergarten. We are unlikely to see this porridge in the list of healthy dishes, especially if a person is trying to get in shape or just eat right. And that's why.

Semolina is made from wheat. It contains 70% carbohydrates of the entire chemical composition, is low in fiber, vitamins and minerals, and it also has a high glycemic index. Semolina is easily digested and quickly absorbed, so it is undesirable to use it if you are overweight. Due to the enveloping effect and high digestibility, semolina is very useful not only in childhood and old age, but also for people who have problems with the stomach, intestines, chewing food, as well as for those who are in rehabilitation after serious illnesses and complex operations.

The most useful cereals, according to most nutritionists, are buckwheat and oatmeal. They are leaders in the content of vitamins and microelements, are well absorbed and have a low glycemic index, which is good for the figure. Also, they do not require much time to prepare - it is enough to pour boiling water over buckwheat at night, and oatmeal - in the morning for 5-10 minutes.

The most unhealthy are corn grits and semolina: they have a low content of vitamins, trace elements, a small amount of vegetable protein and a rather high glycemic index. If you are losing weight or keeping fit, try not to lean on them. Eat these cereals 3-4 times a month, as variety is the principle of a healthy diet.
