Where is the cheapest place to stay in Thailand? Holidays in Thailand: choose a resort

Quite rightly called exotic vacation in Southeast Asia. For Russians, everything related to Vietnam, China, Laos and Cambodia is unknown and surprising. But the most popular at present is a holiday in Thailand. Courageous and inquisitive travelers are not afraid of a long flight, a big time difference and the unusual culture of this region. The main thing is to decide where to go to Thailand.

For those who love a beach holiday, the natural conditions of this country are perfect. It has everything: white sandy beaches, aquamarine sea, numerous bays and islands, exotic fruits, tropical plants and birds, rich wildlife. Gourmets in Thailand will enjoy the unique national cuisine. But the most attractive thing is that here all year round the air temperature is +30°C, and the water is never colder than +26°C.

If you choose between Pattaya and Phuket, it is important to know that Phuket has higher prices for holidays, but the water on the beaches is noticeably cleaner.

The most popular place in Thailand - Pattaya

A large number of comfortable hotels stretch along the coast. The star rating of hotels is different, but even 3 * hotels will provide normal conditions for relaxation. Pattaya- the cheapest and most democratic resort. It is also famous for its vibrant nightlife. If you have an adventurous spirit, a desire for an unusual eventful holiday, then Pattaya will suit you. The abundance of entertainment venues, Go-go clubs, Alcazar Show, massage parlors - you can’t count everything, is known all over the world.

The center of Pattaya is noisy, colorful, music and alcohol flow there, it smells of spices, exotic dishes and eroticism. There are no 5* hotels in the center of Pattaya.

Tours to Pattaya are much cheaper than other resorts in Thailand at any time of the year.

For a relaxing beach holiday, you need to choose a hotel on the coast of Pattaya away from the city: there the sea is cleaner and calmer, and the prices are reasonable. In general, tourists prefer to swim in the clear waters on the beautiful islands or in the Pattaya water park. And all the nightly entertainment is quite possible to visit, if you wish, by going for a night walk.

What are the must-dos in Pattaya?

  1. Visit a massage parlor
  2. Visit coral islands
  3. Watch the elephant show
  4. Visit a crocodile farm
  5. See Mini Siam

There is also a tiger zoo. All shows with animals are of constant interest. It is rare for a vacationer to deny himself the pleasure of diversifying a beach holiday. After all, it is very interesting to see the habits of animals that live in the tropics. Moreover, for the show, many animals are trained, and tourists see a real performance.

The elephant show will surprise you with the grace and quick wit of these huge clumsy animals. They not only play football, throw darts, but also paint pictures with a brush that you can buy. Well, very exotic and interesting, especially for children.

If you want to see replicas of world-famous architectural structures, you should visit the Mini Siam Park. Of course, the famous buildings are made in 1:20 scale, but the park is truly amazing. Especially educational for children. The Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, and even St. Basil's Cathedral are collected in one place. Walking through the park, you can easily move from Europe to Africa, and from there to Asia and beyond. Thai beauty is presented in full. If you fail to go on a tour of Thailand, then at least in the photo you can capture yourself with Thai temples.

Yes, don't forget about the show of men dressed up and "changed" into women. Where else can you see such an incredible show? In Pattaya, this is the show "Tiffany" and "Alcazar". Of course, for Russians such entertainment is a real exotic. Our mentality hardly perceives the surrounding reality and their customs. But the bright enchanting action, luxurious costumes, national music, beautiful choreography create a feeling of an unreal holiday. Just prepare small bills, because after the show you can take pictures of Thai "beauties" only for money. They have such a small business.

About Thai massage

At the words "Thai massage" many people feel better, and even those who have never done it. That is to say, heard. But hearing and doing are two big differences, as they say in Odessa.

A bit of history. More than two thousand years ago, the court physician of the Indian king used acupressure techniques for therapeutic purposes. Massage methods were passed from master to master through training, since there was no written language. In more recent times, the first university was founded at Wat Pho in Thailand. On the walls of the temple, on sixty tablets, schemes and diagrams of lines were carved, along which one should act on the body. Until now, marble sculptures depicting stretch marks and yoga poses, as well as acupressure points, have been preserved.

Thai massage is distinguished by a combination of acupressure with elements of manual therapy and yoga. The healing effect of Thai massage is amazing:

  • Improvement of blood circulation
  • Relieve muscle tension
  • Elimination of toxins
  • Stimulation of the nervous system
  • Improved breathing and digestion

Resting in Thailand, be sure to visit the Thai massage parlor. The healing effect is guaranteed to you.

A trip to the "Golden Triangle" is included in many excursion programs. And rightly so, you can not miss such historical and religious places as Laos, Burma, being in Southeast Asia. A nice addition to the rich excursion program in Thailand is the opportunity to complete the voyage on sandy beaches. So to speak, wash off the dust of the roads and relax in nirvana.

What to see in Bangkok?

Stay in the capital of Thailand may be short-lived. However, this will not prevent you from getting a boost of positive Asian energy. After all, Bangkok is a tourist Mecca for many tourists who have chosen a beach holiday, but at least for a day stayed in Bangkok.

Experienced travelers are advised to concentrate on the main thing in order to get the most complete picture of an unfamiliar culture. So, the Royal Palace with the Temple of the Emerald Buddha should definitely get into your itinerary. You can walk around the palace for hours and enjoy the beauty of nature and architecture.

It is worth taking a boat ride along the canals of the Thai "Venice" on the Chao Phraya River.

Visit the Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) - elegant, unique, decorated with Chinese porcelain, 79 meters high. It was built for 27 long years and for more than 200 years it has been delighting and astonishing visitors with its beauty. It is believed that it is in the morning that the temple is most beautiful, but visiting it in the evening, you will find a special charm in the silhouettes of Wat Arun against the evening sunset.

Fun for kids in Bangkok

If you find yourself in Bangkok with children, then Dream World, Safari Park and Oceanarium will be a wonderful place for entertainment for all families. Dream World is an amazing amusement park that is interesting not only for children. This park is similar to Disneyland, it will satisfy the tastes of any traveler on vacation, besides, it is the largest in Thailand.

Safari Park loves the brave. Indeed, on special cars covered with protective nets, tourists are driven through the real jungle, where a leopard or a tiger can jump out of a car from behind any bush. The sight is not for the faint of heart! But to see giraffes, zebras and other inhabitants of the savannah in their habitat is very interesting and informative.

And there is no need to even talk about the Oceanarium. All ocean fauna is presented so clearly that in a transparent tunnel you have to dodge sharks, electric rays and other ocean inhabitants every now and then. Children cannot be taken away from there!

Entertainment for adults in Bangkok

For lovers of nightlife in Bangkok, there are many restaurants, night exotic clubs, various shows for every taste and interest. The most visited place in Bangkok by real men is Soi Cowboy. According to experts, this is the world famous party center of Bangkok's nightlife. More than 36 institutions invite tourists to have fun. It is worth noting that most of the establishments on Soi-Cowboy are Go-Go bars. Such their Asian manners!

And shoppers will be pleased with huge shopping centers with many branded departments, where prices for goods are quite reasonable. There are also departments with good Thai goods. There are also night markets where you can buy decent quality items at discount prices.

And finally, a video about choosing a place to stay in Thailand:

This article will talk about the resorts of Thailand, and which one is better to give preference to when choosing a place for vacation.

The big advantage is that this Thai resort can be reached by direct flights with a landing near the island at the airport of the same name, you can read here. Prices in Phukta are slightly higher than in other parts of Thailand.

Pattaya

This is another equally famous resort that has many bars. "Go go", nightclubs, discos, entertainment complexes and all kinds of night shows with a variety of performances, offering their services to tourists all 24 hours a day.

Pattaya

But, despite such a large number of entertainment for adults, this resort is very popular for families. Any leading travel agency to the question: where is it better to relax in Thailand with children? - will give the answer that in Pattaya.

There are various attractions for children, with a large number of water slides, a zoo with exotic animals, a crocodile farm, a Dinosaur Park, from which all family members, both children and adults, will become indescribably delighted.
The underwater world of this resort is simply created for lovers of diving and snorkeling.

Real thrill-seekers will definitely not get bored here, they will be able to paragliding, ride pictures or quad bikes or go in for water sports. Pattaya is also famous for its excursion tours to various historical sights. Prices here are considered the most affordable among all resorts in Thailand.

Bangkok

This is a multi-million dollar metropolis worth visiting at least once in your life. It seems like he never sleeps. A variety of entertainment venues and huge shopping centers are constantly working here. This city is a great place for shopping, as prices here are much lower than in any other CIS countries.

Bangkok

It can also amaze with its historical sights and architectural monuments, and its temples and buildings are known throughout the world. While in this resort, you should definitely visit the Royal Palace, where you can walk for hours and enjoy the surroundings, or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Even if the purpose of the vacation is not the capital of Thailand, it still needs to be included in the overall plan of your trip, since the best museums of the kingdom are located here.

The channel of the Chao Phraya River located here is called the real "Thai" Venice, you can go boating and admire the beautiful nature. Children in this wonderful city will also find a lot of entertainment for themselves. For example, you can take the whole family on a trip to their famous aquarium or to the Dream World park, which is somewhat reminiscent of Disneyland.

Krabi Province

This exotic place located near Phuket is considered "universal" a Thai resort and a real land of islands, of which there are a huge number. They attract tourists with their charming untouched nature and sparsely populated. Almost the entire coastline of the province is large beaches with pure white sands.

Many say about Krabi that this resort combines the beauty of virgin nature with a fairly developed infrastructure. In this place, island tourism, active and beach holidays are well developed, nightlife is seething and, in addition, you can still enjoy the services of Thai massage therapists for a small fee.

The visiting card and at the same time the biggest pride of Krabi are the caves of Khao Khanap Nam, it is not difficult to get to them by water. Here you can also go on excursions to national parks or to the temple-museum.

Koh Samui

This place is ideal for those who love a calm and peaceful holiday. not crowded and one gets the feeling that you are in some kind of paradise on earth.

Mostly tourists come here who want to be alone with themselves or couples in love who want to hide away from prying eyes. However, it is not deprived of various nightly entertainments, if you want to have a good time, you can look at the beaches of Lamai, Bo Phut or Chaweng. There are many clubs, bars and restaurants here. For outdoor enthusiasts, Koh Samui has prepared an excellent opportunity to go scuba diving or surfing.

The best time to spend a vacation on this island is the months: January, February, June and August. The resort has its own airport, which can be reached from Bangkok in about an hour.

Which resort to choose

To the question: where is it better to go in Thailand? - cannot be answered unambiguously. If preference is given to various entertainments, then you should go to Phuket, Bangkok or Pattaya. A more relaxing vacation on remote clean beaches near the warm sea can be spent if you go to such resorts in Thailand: Krabi province, Koh Samui, Khao Lak, Koh Chang, Rayong, Lanta and other quiet islands.

You can have a great time at the Koh Phangan resort with dancing until you drop if you get to their Fool Moon Party festival, which lasts several days. During this period of time, all hotels and resort hotels are full, and it will definitely not work to rent a room on the spot. Therefore, you should worry in advance and book your accommodation there.

Fans of the underwater kingdom will find a great vacation in the resorts of Tao, Surin, or Similian. These places are famous for the best diving and snorkeling. Of course, Thailand is the dream of any tourist, which everyone tries to fulfill at least once in their lives.

Before all those who come to Thailand, both on vacation and for the winter, the question arises of where to go, which resort. It is clear that, most likely, everyone will go to the sea to relax, so we will talk about sea resorts. Of course, there are those who are indifferent to the sea, in this case, you can go north to Thailand to Chiang Mai.

All information about Thailand is collected in my guide. If you have any questions, then first of all, look there.

Despite the fact that I am a fan of quiet and non-touristy places, but I also love civilization with all the consequences. Therefore, I visited all the popular Thai resorts, somewhere I just rested, and somewhere I lived for several months. So, at the moment there are several resorts where Russian tourists usually come: Pattaya, Phuket, Krabi, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, Koh Chang, and Hua Hin. There are other places, but they are less known.

When you choose where it is better to relax, do not forget to look at my post about, as the weather conditions in certain months, including the behavior of the sea, can be very different from each other.

Pattaya

If you go on a regular tourist package, then in most cases it will take you to Pattaya or Phuket. Less often, they go to Koh Samui, because it is more expensive. It is for this reason that Pattaya is the most popular, where the cheapest tours are. I was in Pattaya for several weeks, but I didn’t live, it’s too noisy for me and the beaches are not very good.

If you like parties, nightlife, bars, carrots (girls for sex), then this is the place for you. No, this does not mean that the whole city is buzzing with nightlife, but here it is most of all in Thailand. If you don’t need it at all, then just avoid several central streets in the evening and at night. And, having settled on the outskirts, you can generally not see this nightlife. In addition to low prices, Pattaya attracts many because there are a lot of Russians, and therefore the corresponding infrastructure: Russian cafes and products, Russian gardens and schools, Russian shops. In principle, in ordinary cafes there is a menu in Russian, and even Russian-speaking Thais are sometimes found. It will really be easier for someone among compatriots, and it will always be easy for winterers to find a company, both with children and without. In general, Pattaya has the most infrastructure after Bangkok: shopping centers, supermarkets, hospitals of all chains, Tukkom electronics store, water park, amusement park, mini Siam, bot garden, etc.

Nature and terrain in Pattaya is quite ordinary, everything is flat. City beaches, unfortunately, are dirty and not everyone can swim there, I would disdain. There is a way out of this situation - to go to the beaches in the vicinity of the city or to the island of Koh Lan, it is only 30 minutes to sail to it by ferry.

Pattaya central beach

Phuket

Next in terms of noise and the number of Russians is the island of Phuket, the fate of Pattaya is predicted for it, but I did not notice this. Phuket already has a real ocean, beautiful beaches and beautiful mountainous landscapes. Yes, there are a lot of tourists here during the season, no less than in Pattaya, but most of them are concentrated on Patong Beach and its neighbors: Karon and Kata. On the beaches of Bang Tao and Nai Harn, where winterers usually live, there are a lot of people only during the peak season (December and January). It is here that you should stop if you come for a period of a month or more. Actually, I have already wintered on these two beaches 2 times. But if you go just to relax, then I recommend choosing between Karon, Kata, Kamala and Naithon, in descending order of civilization.

Phuket also has enough entertainment and parties. But the main thing here is trips to various islands, of which there are a lot in the area, both just for beaches and beauty, and for snorkeling. And if we talk about nightlife, then you should look for it in Patong, there is also enough of everything, although less and less unbridled compared to the sex capital of Pattaya. By the way, it is on Patong that the beach is dirty and less beautiful (than all the others), but you can swim. However, no one bothers to live on a quieter beach, and come to Patong to have fun in clubs or shop in shopping centers. Although you can go to shopping centers in Phuket Town, they are all concentrated on the main highway. The hospitals here are fine too.

If you asked me where I would go on a tour or on my own, to Phuket or Pattaya, I would definitely choose Phuket. Moreover, there is an international airport here and you can fly a direct flight from Moscow.

Phuket, Nai Harn beach

Koh Samui and Koh Phangan

If nature, beautiful island beaches are important to you, and at the same time you want fewer people, then it makes sense to think about relaxing on the islands, in particular on Koh Samui or Koh Phangan. They are located in the Gulf of Thailand not far from each other. Koh Samui is bigger and close in popularity to Phuket, that is, there are a lot of people, but still less than in Phuket, and there are almost no baggies. In addition, there are very few beaches even in season, for example, Maenam or Bang Por, I spent the winter on them, like many. Given that the island is small, you can get to the supermarket from anywhere in 20-30 minutes by bike or car. At the same time, if you need nightlife, cafes and restaurants, then you can go to Chaweng Beach. Of course, he is far from Pattaya or Patong in Phuket, but for many this is enough.

Getting to Koh Samui is more difficult than to Phuket, you will need either a bus + ferry, or an additional flight. It’s even a little longer to get to Koh Phangan, since planes don’t fly there and either sail from Koh Samui, or also take a ferry from the mainland. Perhaps that is why there is not yet such a large flow of visitors here.

Infrastructure on Koh Samui, in principle, is enough for everything, there are several large shopping centers with supermarkets, and a couple of hospitals from large chains. But the island of Koh Phangan is less civilized, but 3 supermarkets have already been built there too. Phangan is also known for its Full Moon Party and the fact that all kinds of informals go there: yoga lovers, raw vegetarians, etc. However, if you don’t go to their parties, you won’t see them.

Koh Samui, Maenam beach

Koh Chang

Chang Island is much closer to Bangkok than all the other islands, 5-7 hours drive. With nature and beaches there everything is in order, in my opinion. The infrastructure is normal for a resort holiday, but not quite suitable for wintering, because there are no normal hospitals and very little normal monthly housing. Well, at least there is a supermarket now, otherwise it was not so long ago. But still, the island is more suitable for relaxing for a couple of weeks. Therefore, I only came here, I did not spend the winter. Although some still live here.

On Koh Chang, there are both beaches where there are a lot of vacationers, and those where there are almost no one. But in general, the island is not very big and you can drive through its main part in an hour. For privacy, I would put it somewhere between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.

Koh Chang, White Sand Beach

Krabi

The province of Krabi has only recently begun to attract Russian tourists. Europeans, I think, have long been chosen for it. Usually people come here for natural beauties, and although this is not an island, Krabi is called the country of a thousand islands, because some rocks resemble scenes from the movie Avatar. In my opinion, these rocks have not left anyone indifferent. And you can settle in such a way that they will be visible from the hotel window. True, for this you need to live closer to the sea. I lived 5 km from the coast and from the window of my house there was a rather ordinary view.

The main and, one might say, the only resort is the village of Aonang. All winterers live in it and its environs, as well as those who came just to relax for a couple of weeks. But also this village serves as a transit point for those who are going to sail to, whose beaches go to the TOPs of beaches. Actually, it’s only 10 minutes to sail there from Aonang, so you can live in the village and swim on Railay at least every day. But you can immediately settle on Railay in a hotel. True, the place is quite remote, with virtually no infrastructure, perhaps it will be enough to live for a few days. Just keep in mind, during the day on Railay in the season there are just a lot of people, everyone comes with excursions.

Krabi, Ao Nang beach

Hua Hin

Hua Hin is poorly suited for relaxation. People usually go there to spend the winter, and those who understand why they need it go there. On the one hand, from Bangkok to Hua Hin is also quick and easy to get to, as well as to Pattaya, but the beaches there are completely amateur, far from a bounty. No, they are not dirty, like in Pattaya, and there are not many people there, just shallow, waves and wind. It is rather good to go here to learn kiting than to swim and sunbathe. But on these beaches you can perfectly walk (trodden sand), which I did in one of my winter quarters almost every evening, you can simply walk kilometers there.

Hua Hin is located on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand and is the summer residence of the king. The nature here is simple, but in my opinion a little better than in Pattaya. Plus, the contingent is different, there are no package tourists and tourist hype. You can call it a calm resort for Europeans. There is more than enough infrastructure: several shopping centers with supermarkets, several large hospitals, a water park and an amusement park near Cha Am.

P.S. It is convenient to search and choose plane tickets on and, I myself use these services in my travels.

Although Thailand is a small country, it is rich in diversity, from the white sand beaches of Koh Samui to the chilly mountains of Doi Ang Khang, from the glitz of Bangkok to the rural tranquility of indigenous villages, from the adult entertainment of Pattaya to the historic heritage of Ayutthaya.

Today we will consider the main resorts of Thailand and try to understand where it is better to relax in Thailand.

Resorts in Thailand: where is the best place to relax in Thailand?

Of course, it is impossible to unequivocally answer this question - after all, everyone goes to the country of smiles for their own. Therefore, when describing the resorts of Thailand and the main cities, we will indicate their main values and advantages, for which people go there.

It's funny that many Thais who gave us a ride during hitchhiking were surprised what we were doing, for example, in the north of Thailand)) They say "after all, all Russians go to Pattaya." But that's not all! And a large Russian community in Chiang Mai this winter is proof of this.

Well, let's tell you about the resorts of Thailand, and you yourself will choose where to go to Thailand, based on your preferences. It must be understood that here we have collected the most important ones, besides them there are many others, to which the tourist boom has not yet reached.

For convenience, here is a map of Thailand in Russian, which shows all the main resorts and cities of the country. The original lies.

Bangkok

City of contrasts! Although it sounds trite, this is the first thing that comes to mind when visiting the capital of Thailand. Luxurious skyscrapers, huge shopping complexes and office buildings coexist with slums on the water, where many wooden houses on stilts shelter. You will probably start your trip in Bangkok, and we advise you not to go further to the islands right away, but to devote 2-3 days to walking around the capital.

There is something to see here: the Royal Palace, many temples, both touristy and quiet, lurking in the lanes, parks, Chinese and Indian quarters. Be sure to visit downtown, and kids will love Dusit Zoo or Siam park and Dreamworld amusement parks.

For shoppers, Bangkok is a paradise! There are huge malls in the city center where absolutely everything is sold: electronics, clothes, Thai silk, souvenirs and much more. If you're on a budget, I suggest visiting the Chatuchak Market in the north - one of the biggest markets in Asia with cheap prices on everything. Even if you don't buy anything, just stare!

The nightlife in Bangkok is just in full swing - take a look at the numerous bars in the Sukhumvit area or at where many backpackers gather.

Pattaya

Perhaps the most famous resort in Thailand among Russians is where a good part of package tourists go. Worldwide known primarily for its adult entertainment, go-go bars, discos, vibrant nightlife. Pattaya is quite affordable in terms of housing, food and entertainment prices and is located very close to Bangkok - you can get there by bus directly from the airport.

There are quite a few interesting places in the vicinity that you can visit with a guided tour: elephant and snake farms, the Nong Nooch tropical garden, the Temple of Truth, water activities and much more.

Where is the best place to go in Thailand? Temple of Truth in Pattaya

You should not go to Pattaya for the perfect beach holiday - most likely you will be disappointed, the sea is quite dirty, and the beaches leave much to be desired. But you can go to one of the nearby islands and have a great swim in the clear sea and sunbathe!

Summary: Nightlife/Entertainment/Beach holidays (on the islands)

Chang Island is located in the Gulf of Thailand near the border with Cambodia and is also a fairly popular holiday destination. The island is quite easy to get from Bangkok: first to the city of Trat, and then by ferry, many companies sell a single ticket.

Chang Island

Almost the entire territory of the island is a national park, so in part it has retained its originality and impresses with beautiful untouched nature. You can visit the jungle, waterfalls, arrange tracks through the forests, and also go diving! Here you can find those very white beaches and swim to uninhabited islands.

You should not count on the developed infrastructure and nightlife here, but this is the beauty of Chang.

Summary: Beach holidays / Diving / Excursions

The second most popular resort in Thailand among Russian tourists. Located on the Andaman coast in southwestern Thailand. There are direct charter and regular (seasonal) flights to the island directly from Russia. If you arrive in Bangkok, then you can get to Phuket by plane or bus: lay down the time and budget for this.

Phuket is known primarily for its beautiful beaches and excellent tourist infrastructure - a variety of hotels from the simplest to luxurious five-star hotels. You can settle on Patong Beach and party all night long, or find a quiet beach where you don't have to meet anyone.

Where to go in Thailand? Phuket

In Phuket, there are many excursions to interesting places, you can arrange a walk through the forest, ride elephants or ATVs, visit temples.

It is worth noting that Phuket is a more expensive resort than Pattaya, but it is ideal for families with children.

Koh Samui

Another popular holiday island in Thailand, located in the Gulf of Thailand, near the city of Surat Thani. There are no direct flights to the island from Russia, and the flight from Bangkok is so cheap, which is probably why it is generally quieter and calmer than in Phuket.

If you are looking for secluded ideal beaches with fine sand and palm trees, as in the picture, then you are definitely here! The island is famous for its coconut plantations and tropical nature. There are both active beaches, with discos and bars (Chaweng), and secluded beaches without any infrastructure, where you can sunbathe alone.

Maenam beach on Koh Samui

In general, there are many hotels on Koh Samui for every taste and color, as well as entertainment and natural attractions: waterfalls, butterfly gardens, snake and elephant farms. You can also go diving and other water sports. It is good to relax on Koh Samui with children, although of course it depends on the beach. We always met whole families on Maenam Beach - there is sand and the entrance to the sea is smooth.

Koh Phangan

Koh Phangan is located very close to Koh Samui and is rarely considered as a separate independent resort, rather as an addition to its neighbor. It is here that the famous moon parties are held once a month for the new moon. Young people from all over the world come to the "Full Moon Party" and come off to the fullest! The atmosphere of hippies and unbridled fun!

However, the rest of the time or in other parts of the island, it is quite quiet here, so the place is popular among lovers of yoga, meditation, or just relaxing against the backdrop of untouched exotic nature.

Summary: Party/Beach/Nature

Koh Tao

Quite a small island, nevertheless popular among tourists. It is located near Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, and the easiest way to get here is from Chumphon by ferry.

Koh Tao is known as one of the best diving and snorkeling destinations, so if you are a real fan, then here is a paradise for you! This is perhaps the main reason why people come to the island. Holidays in Thailand can be organized to your liking, you just need to choose the right resort. For hanging out youth - one direction, and for lovers of silence - completely different. This article will help you navigate where to relax in Thailand for a particular type of leisure activity, give a comparative description and describe all the pros and cons of various resorts.

Where is it better to relax in Thailand if you are a sex tourist - Pattaya

Pattaya is located on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, just 150 km from Bangkok. The area is relatively small - only 21 square meters. km.

This is the very first mass tourist resort, opened in the late 50s by American soldiers. They had several military bases in Thailand during the Vietnam War and sometimes came to the coast to relax. On one of these days, the military saw the small fishing village of Pattaya, with very friendly locals. They liked it here so much that after the war, many stayed to live and even opened bars and restaurants. Since the 70s, the town has become the most popular among foreigners who want to relax in Thailand.

Why is it better to relax in Pattaya

The question of where it is cheaper to relax in Thailand can be immediately closed - in Pattaya, prices are the lowest among all resorts in the country. Everything is cheap here - hotels, services, food, clothes. There is no alternative in this regard.

It is easy to get from Russia, since there are direct flights from major cities in our country. Planes land at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport, which is a stone's throw away. Just an hour and a half on and you enjoy the sea, sitting under a palm tree.

This is the main center of sex tourism throughout Southeast Asia. Prices for "adult" entertainment are quite low, while girls are mostly 18-25 years old. In addition to meeting local beauties, you can go to erotic massage parlors, watch exotic shows or performances with the participation of transvestites. For gay people there are gay clubs and bars. In a word, Pattaya is a paradise for those who are looking for carnal pleasures.

Well-developed tourist infrastructure with thousands of hotels, restaurants, shops, banks, bars, clubs, discos.

- You will not have a question where to go in Pattaya, as there is a large selection of entertainment, including for. The child will frolic with pleasure in the water park or on the rides, get a lot of new impressions from visiting zoos. For adults - water sports, diving and snorkeling in the nearest, paragliding, elephant riding, go-karting, boating and quad biking ... you name it all! After sunset, it is no less interesting here than during the day: entertainment venues, discos and bars with girls open their doors.

The best place in Thailand on the excursion program is a huge number of different options that cannot be seen in a two-week vacation.

Proximity to Bangkok. Just 2 hours and you are in the capital of Thailand. This city has a huge number of interesting sights, both historical and modern. This will be a great addition to a beach holiday in Pattaya.

The best climate among the resorts of Thailand. There are rarely strong waves at sea, during the dry season from November to May there is practically no rain, and from June to October only a few times a week. There are no strong winds either, since the city is very well located in a closed bay.

Where to go to Thailand for a secluded vacation - the islands of Koh Chang, Koh Phangan, Phi Phi and Lanta

It is located in the east of Thailand, on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, not far from Cambodia. Koh Phangan is located near Koh Samui. and – in the Andaman Sea, in the southwestern part of the country, close to Malaysia.

You may ask why we have combined resorts so far from each other into one group? The fact is that they are very similar in terms of infrastructure, attractions and distance from the main tourist roads. In principle, they differ only in size: Koh Chang is the second largest island in the country, and the Phi Phi twins (Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Ley) are very small.

Advantages of these islands

Uncrowded beaches. There are no crowds of tourists here, you may well find corners where only a few people within a radius of 100 m from you will sunbathe during the day, and after sunset you may even be completely alone on a deserted coast. These are great places for lovers of tropical nature and silence. The only exception is Koh Phangan's Full Moon Parties, when party-goers from all over the world come to dance all night in the open air.

But Parties are held only on a few beaches during the full moon, in all other places - peace and quiet. There is also one beach on Phi Phi - where an open-air disco is held daily;

Great opportunities for diving and snorkeling, especially in Phi Phi;

The cleanest sea, no garbage and plastic bags on the beaches (this can often be seen in Pattaya and sometimes in Phuket);

Proximity to uninhabited islands, to which one-day excursions are organized. There you can completely merge with nature, forgetting that somewhere there are cities, factories, noisy highways and nightclubs;

- you can see the life of local residents, which has not changed much with the arrival of tourists (to a greater extent this applies to Lanta);

Disadvantages of Koh Chang, Koh Phangan, Koh Phi Phi and Lanta

It is quite difficult to get from the international airport, especially to Koh Phangan. You will have to transfer to a local flight;

All natural sights: waterfalls, caves, national parks. On Phi Phi you can see the places where the film "The Beach" with Leonardo DiCaprio was partly filmed. There are simply no architectural, cultural and historical monuments;

Virtually no nightlife, with the exception of a couple of beaches on Koh Phangan and one on Phi Phi. After sunset, the only entertainment available is drinking bars with girls, restaurants with local music groups, and fire shows;

Bad place for shopping. There are no large shopping centers on the island. The maximum that can be purchased is souvenirs and clothes;

There are no jet skis and other motorized water activities on Koh Chang, because it is located on the territory of the National Marine Reserve and the environment is very monitored here.

Where is the best vacation in Thailand for diving and snorkeling - the islands of Kood, Mak, Wai, Tao, the Surin and Similian archipelago

The first three islands are located in the Gulf of Thailand near Koh Chang, and the rest are in the Andaman Sea, north of Phuket. There are quite a few hotels here. The islands are often visited by divers. From popular resorts, one-day excursions are organized here, but if you wish, you can stay for a longer period. The infrastructure is in its infancy and is unlikely to ever come out of it, since the islands are located far from the tourist trails and it is difficult to get here.

Advantages

Nature is in its original form, there are practically no paved roads. It is worth coming only to those who are tired of the fast rhythm of cities and want to spend their holidays "wild" in the bosom of nature. If this is you, then the islands will be the perfect refuge from civilization - only the azure sea, the empty beach, the sea breeze, the singing of birds and the whisper of leaves.

- The cleanest sea in Thailand and the cleanest air. It is very rare to find motorbikes, and cars even more so.

Beautiful landscapes that do not spoil standing hotels and entertainment centers here and there.

The best places in Thailand to explore the underwater world.

Flaws

Very hard and far to get. There are no airports, so you will first have to take a bus to some famous resort, and from there go by boat.

There are storms on the islands of the Andaman Sea during the rainy season (May-November), so during this period they are closed for tourists and there is little or no ferry service with them.

Entertainment lovers will be bored, because they are simply not here. There are no bars, clubs, reputable restaurants.

There are no ATMs on many islands, so you need to take a small supply of cash with you (small - because there is not much to spend them on).

Since these are not very popular destinations, there is little competition between tour operators, which means prices are also high. And yes, it's not cheap to get there.

There are almost no tuk-tuks or other public means of transport to explore the entire island inexpensively.

- "Man-made" attractions are completely absent, but there are many natural ones: waterfalls, caves, lagoons, bays, forests, a rich underwater world.

Sometimes there are power outages. In some hotels, it is turned on only at strictly defined hours from local generators.

Where better to go to Thailand for shopping and entertainment - Bangkok

Since Bangkok is located in the very center of Thailand, it is an ideal starting point for trips around the country: whether it be the northern provinces of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai or the southern provinces of Koh Samui, Phuket or Lanta.

This is not the best place in Thailand, because

There is no sea. The nearest resort of Pattaya is about 2 hours by bus. Sichang Island is a little more accessible, but there are few sandy beaches on it.

The purity of the air leaves much to be desired. Numerous cars leave no chance for good ecology.

During peak hours there are many kilometers of traffic jams.

- As in any metropolis, there are no large forest areas left in Bangkok, although there are several large parks.

It is always 2-3 degrees hotter here than in seaside resorts (smog creates a "greenhouse effect").

If you stay in the center, and especially in places with nightly entertainment, then until 2 o'clock the noise and music will not allow you to sleep well (according to the law, all establishments in Thailand must be closed at 2 o'clock in the morning).

Results: which resort to choose in Thailand?

We hope that this article introduced you to the advantages and disadvantages of various resorts and gave you some guidance on where it is better for you to go to Thailand.

Summarizing the above, we can give the following recommendations where it is better to relax in Thailand:

1. If you want entertainment to the maximum, then the best places in Thailand for you are Pattaya, Bangkok and, to a lesser extent, Phuket (from here it is very far from the capital of the country - the main place of party life).

4. Where it is better to go to Thailand for shoppers - Bangkok and Pattaya.

5. For a relaxing holiday on, but with the benefits of civilization, Krabi, Koh Chang, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Lanta, Khao Lak, Samet and Yao islands are suitable.

6. For a "wild" holiday away from the benefits of civilization and as close as possible to nature - the islands of Kud, Mak, Wai, Chicken Island, Surin, Similian.

7. The best diving and snorkeling in Thailand - Koh Tao, the Surin and Similian archipelagos, there are also many opportunities on Phi Phi.

8. If you want to dance until you drop and full drive - ... no, not Pattaya, but Koh Phangan on a full moon. For several days, grandiose parties are held here, attended by tens of thousands of people. During this period, do not even try to find places in hotels and guesthouses - they will definitely not be there. It is best to book in advance or arrive on the island 5 days before the Fool Moon Party.
