However, having understood the issue, I realized that from the point of view of economy, this is not correct.

In neutral gear, the engine consumes the amount of fuel that is needed to maintain idling. And if the gear is engaged, and at the same time the gas pedal is released, then the fuel supply to the combustion chamber stops until the engine speed reaches the idle level, i.e. the car is in energy saving mode. Therefore, the most effective way to "roll" on the mechanics is engine braking, up to a complete stop.

Of all the elements of fuel economy, engine braking is the most difficult process, so do not rush to apply it until you fully master the correct technique.
