How to give birth after 50 years. The likelihood of pregnancy during menopause

- Alexander Anatolyevich, tell me, does late pregnancy carry any dangers?

Of course, pregnancy at 20 and at 40 will be different. In adulthood, women often need medical support, there is a need for surgery, caesarean section, but children do not lose, in some ways they even have an advantage. There are times when “late” children were ahead of their peers in development, who were born in young marriages. Usually these children are more long-awaited, more valuable, all investments in them are often greater. From a medical point of view, this problem is close to being resolved, because modern types of pregnancy management and delivery are very effective, so there are no big threats and negative effects of late pregnancy.

- And what about the risk of Down's disease in "late" children?

Undoubtedly, there is such a risk. But if we are talking about women who have previously had pregnancy and childbirth, this reduces the risk of having children with Down syndrome. In addition, all pregnant women undergo a mandatory examination to exclude such a possibility. But some women ignore the doctor's recommendations, even when the doctor insists on terminating the pregnancy - then it can end tragically. However, if the whole complex of examinations is carried out, the risk is extremely low. Therefore, the birth of a child with Down's disease is most often the mistake of an obstetrician observing pregnancy.

If we are talking about IVF, then the embryo can be examined even before it is transferred to the uterus. With the help of special equipment, it is very easy to detect genetic diseases, such as hemophilia. Therefore, only healthy embryos are transferred to the uterus, and only healthy children are born.

- How accessible is it?

Available. Now there is an order according to which each polyclinic carries out its stage of screening such patients. Of course, every district polyclinic should not do this. But to do an ultrasound scan, suspect it based on tests, and then send the patient to the perinatal center, which are now being created throughout the country, is their main task. It is important that patients are informed that this help is available, free of charge and that there is nothing to be afraid of. If the doctor says that it is necessary to be examined for genetic material, then this must be done, because it will allow you to avoid problems in the future.

- If one partner is much older than the other, can this affect the health of the child?

Hardly ever. If the husband's spermatogenesis is not impaired, then the frequency of anomalies in children does not exceed the general statistical one. And if spermatogenesis is impaired, we are forced to resort to an in vitro fertilization program. We select more mobile spermatozoa and force them to fertilize the egg with special manipulators. But then the risk of deviations increases. Therefore, we only do this if the patient refuses to use other genetic material. Although, technology, of course, will continue to develop and progress. Already now they are helping to solve the problem of childless marriage. The year before last, the girl who was the first born in our country thanks to IVF turned 20 years old.

- Can you name the record age at which patients came to you?

I had a patient who gave birth at 56, her husband was 78. It was an unusual situation. They did IVF, used donor sperm. This was not the first pregnancy, the second marriage. And then her husband did not take her from the hospital for about a month - we forced him to take her almost with the police. He said that there was no one to look after her at home.

Questions from readers

- The district gynecologist of the antenatal clinic who for a year in a row diagnoses me with “primary infertility”. In words, he adds - "infertility of unknown etiology." At the same time, it does not give a referral to any other specialized centers for the treatment of infertility. Who should determine the cause and carry out targeted treatment? Or should I go with a complaint to the manager? Irina

For starters, don't complain, because if you go down the path of legal action, it won't be right. The period of infertility has exceeded 2 years, so it is necessary to more actively solve the problem with the help of diagnostic and treatment procedures, laparoscopy. Without them, you will not be able to answer the question, what are the causes of infertility and whether it is possible to help. There is no need to drag out time, because with some diagnoses, the effectiveness of treatment depends on how long the body has been in a pathological state. Be active, change your gynecologist, go to special reproductive health centers. Even if the polyclinic at the place of residence does not give a referral, you can come without it and go directly to the management.

- Tell me, please, how to give birth to a healthy woman 52 years old, if menopause came 2 years ago. There were no operations, she gave birth to three children, but two died in an accident. My husband is 50 years old and healthy. Zorya

If menopause has already begun, then there is only one way - IVF with a donor egg. There is no other way, there is nothing you can do. If you're willing to take this route, this is the only way.

- What is the probability of a normal pregnancy after several abortions at the age of 34? Galina

Abortion is our scourge. More than half of pregnancies end in miscarriage. I would advise that the next pregnancy ended in childbirth. And I do not advise considering abortion as a method of contraception: this is a difficult procedure that seriously affects a woman's health. Of course, you have an increased risk associated with inflammatory changes in the endometrium. With any intervention, there is a possibility of infection access, and this can lead to the development of endometritis. It is necessary to undergo a complete examination of the uterine cavity, hysteroscopy. And then the doctor will tell you how high the risk of abortion is. In general, the outcome of the first pregnancy is important. If it ended in an abortion, then the risk of subsequent difficulties is very high. Almost always it is infection of the uterine cavity and infertility.

- How to properly prepare for childbirth after 40 years, if this is the first childbirth? Health is quite good. Olga

Probably no special training. There are standard examination schemes before pregnancy, it must be done without fail. If the pregnancy is planned, see your doctor before conception. If the doctor sees pathological changes, it is better to resolve them before pregnancy, because this can greatly complicate its course. But it is better to bring the fact of pregnancy closer, because every year the ovaries work worse and worse - use your time more actively.

In this article:

In the modern world, a woman is more and more shifted to primordially masculine responsibilities: getting a good education, providing for herself and loved ones, building a successful career. Wanting to keep up with the accelerated pace of life, women are forced to forget about their natural mission: to give birth and raise children. The birth of a child relentlessly shifts "for later." “Later”, as a rule, comes after 40, 45, and even after 50 years. If earlier late births were considered nonsense, now expectant mothers at the age of “pros” visit maternity hospitals no less than young girls.

Is it right or not? Doesn't a woman go against nature by postponing the opportunity to become a mother at a later date? Are there any risks in childbirth after 40, 45 or after 50 years? Neither doctors nor psychologists have come up with a definite answer yet. Let's see why.

By strength - will there be a burden

As you know, over the years the body does not get younger: after 40 years, chronic diseases worsen, out of nowhere, new ones appear - the body does not feel well. What if pregnancy occurs? During the period of expectation of a child, a woman may become aggravated diseases of the kidneys, heart, blood vessels, and the musculoskeletal system. Often, ladies of the “Balzac age” suffer from diabetes. It is quite difficult to carry a child with such a set of problems! ..

The musculoskeletal system experiences very serious overloads during pregnancy. The average resident of a large city leads a passive lifestyle - this is a fact. Yes, many people go to fitness clubs, but more for the aesthetic effect than for the actual healing of the body. Classes on simulators bring little benefit to the joints, as well as to the spine, therefore, diseases such as osteochondrosis, arthrosis, lordosis, scoliosis and pelvic deformity have long become companions of modern man.

On the part of the cardiovascular system, hypertension has become the main problem of the present time. This attack has long ceased to be a disease of pensioners. Increasingly, middle-aged women and men are suffering from it.

Hypertension has a strong negative effect on pregnancy, it is the root cause of provoking preeclampsia and late toxicosis. Vascular spasms, poor blood microcirculation leads to a deterioration in oxygen metabolism, the supply of nutrients through the placenta to the fetus is reduced - a lag in the development of the embryo is possible. Also, in women over 40 years of age, blood clotting increases markedly, which leads to thrombosis of the umbilical cord, causes placental insufficiency, which leads to fetal hypoxia, intrauterine growth retardation or even death^; increased blood clotting in 25% of cases is the cause of miscarriage and premature birth.

folk wisdom

Of course, it is impossible to equate a woman of 45 or 50 years old with the category of sick old women! Especially now, when the level of medicine and life has grown significantly! Ecology and health stress do not add to our health, but so hypertension is also no longer a terrible problem during pregnancy and childbirth.

As for pregnancy and its effect on the female body, Western doctors believe that in terms of health, a pregnant woman at 45 and 50, or who has recently given birth, can be compared with a young girl, and all because the period of pregnancy and childbirth have a healing effect on the female body! Cholesterol levels decrease, the risk of stroke decreases, problems with the genitourinary system occur less often, menopause occurs later, and menopause is easier.

Remember that saying about 45 and a berry? In fact, this is not a joke: a woman remains young as long as she can give birth to a child, and the female body is genetically predisposed to maintain childbearing function up to 45, and in fact, up to 50 years. To say that only in older pregnant women kidney problems worsen, teeth crumble due to a lack of calcium, varicose veins appear and hair fall out (which is generally a natural process for women in position) is simply ridiculous. Such "side effects" accompany women preparing for motherhood at any age. That at 50 years old, that at 18, pregnancy can proceed with complications.

Some doctors believe that after 35, and even more so after 45 or 50, it is more difficult for a woman to get pregnant and give birth - the reproductive system is aging: eggs, unlike sperm, are not able to be renewed, ovarian function is inhibited, the uterus becomes less susceptible to hormones, menstrual cycle, ovulation occurs irregularly. However, if everything was really so sad, then these statistics would not exist: over the past 5 years, the number of cases of the birth of babies by women aged 40-50 has doubled.

"Young" mom is really young

When, as in some doctors, late childbirth causes skepticism, others, moreover, do not see anything terrible in this, but also consider childbirth at this age to be useful.

So, for example, Galina Fillipova (Rector of the Institute of Perinatal Psychology) believes that childbirth in adulthood gives an extra 15 years of life to parents, prolonging their psychological youth, as they acquire a goal in life - to educate, and then put their child on their feet.

Returning to health, it is worth noting that, despite the sound arguments about the accumulated problems, during pregnancy the body is mobilized, all systems begin to work with a vengeance, thereby compensating for their weaknesses.

In addition to recovery during pregnancy and after childbirth, rejuvenation occurs due to the same hormonal changes. The placenta, which is formed by the second month of pregnancy, begins to produce a large amount of hormones: estrogen, progesterone, cortisol, placental lactogen (similar to growth hormone) and others. Hormones have an excellent effect: cortisol, helps a pregnant woman to be more calm, less nervous, quickly adapt to everything new ^; estrogen removes excess water from the body, relieves puffiness ^; progesterone improves metabolism, which has a beneficial effect on the condition of the skin, hair, nails and joints, and generally strengthens the immune system. A lady at 50 will look 15 years younger!

Mom is young again, but not stupid

Such a pun can be made by describing a mother after 40-45 years. It is believed that pregnancy has a detrimental effect on the female brain, they say, a woman becomes stupid, becomes forgetful, a conversation can only be supported by childbirth and raising a child.

In fact, it's not like that. Yes, during pregnancy, hormones can make a woman more emotional. But such behavioral outbursts have no effect on thinking. On the contrary, according to scientists from the United States, late pregnancy and late childbirth push the female brain to develop. A pregnant woman thinks much more intuitively, sees problems more broadly, due to the development of creative thinking, often her solutions have a non-standard approach.

Postpartum depression...

Often after childbirth, a woman develops postpartum depression. However, this has nothing to do with age, since the occurrence of a depressed state after childbirth is associated with a predisposition: frequent depression of a woman (and it doesn’t matter if she is 45 or 25), stress during pregnancy, pronounced PMS. After childbirth, such a reaction manifests itself in every 10, and it is caused primarily by physiological and hormonal changes in the body, fatigue and a dramatically changed lifestyle with the advent of a child.

Psychologists, on the other hand, believe that such a reaction of the psyche after childbirth is associated with the unpreparedness of a young mother for motherhood, incomplete acceptance of the child. In this case, mature women after 40-45 years even have advantages: as a rule, pregnancy is approached consciously at the age, the child is always desired ^; such mothers approach all issues related to childbirth, raising a child much more responsibly.

Doctors say: ideally, the first birth should be between 20 and 25 years old, and the psychological age comes just closer to 40. Many young girls give birth to a child, still being children themselves (in a figurative sense) - so it should be. And women after 40, 45, and even closer to 50 are a priori psychologically ready to raise a child.
In general, late births even benefit from this point of view.

Risks

However, it is wrong to say that childbirth at 20 and 50 is exactly the same. This is not true. Pregnancy and childbirth in adulthood, of course, are accompanied by certain risks, which include:

  1. Frequent pathologies of the course of pregnancy (if pregnant women under the age of 30 need medical care due to preeclampsia in 10% of cases, then after 40 every 7 people turn to doctors with such a problem);
  2. Frequent cases of premature pregnancy (pregnancy for up to 38 weeks) or post-term (pregnancy for more than 40 weeks);
  3. Exacerbation of diabetes, growth of uterine fibroids (noted in 20% of cases of late pregnancies), the latter can greatly interfere with the flow of nutrients to the fetus;
  4. An increased likelihood of having a child with Down syndrome (the statistics are such that in mothers under 30, such a fetal malformation is diagnosed in 1 case out of 1000, and in women over 45 in 1 out of 10);
  5. Weak labor activity, inability to give birth naturally (often women who decide to give birth to a child around 40–50 years old have to have a caesarean section, due to poor tissue elasticity, severe divergence of the pelvic bones);
  6. There is a high probability of ruptures of the birth canal in late childbirth (with age, tissue elasticity decreases).
    True, given the modern level of medicine, all these problems are solvable.

To avoid problems...

In order for the pregnancy to proceed safely, and childbirth to be successful at any age, it is necessary to be observed by doctors, as well as to conduct the necessary examinations in a timely manner.

For the timely determination of malformations of intrauterine development, it is necessary to conduct the following studies:

  1. Ultrasound at 11 and 18 weeks - it is at these times that the presence of Down syndrome in the fetus is determined;
  2. Fetometry, or a method for determining the size of the fetus by ultrasound;
  3. Doppleography, a mandatory study that allows you to check the sufficiency of the funds supplied to the child in the womb, to determine whether he is experiencing hypoxia; carried out in two modes: duplex and triplex (has a color image);
  4. The triple test is one of the most important screening tests; consists of an analysis of the level of three hormones: alpha-fetoprotein, hCG and estriol. It is carried out at about 16 weeks and allows in 60% of cases to determine the presence of Down syndrome in the fetus, in 80% of cases the pathology of the neural tube.

Sometimes the results of a triple test are not enough, or the test comes back positive. Then the pregnant woman may be prescribed an amniocentesis, or an analysis of amniotic fluid and cordocentesis, or a test of the fetus's blood taken from the placenta. Such studies are quite dangerous, but if a child is suspected of having Down syndrome, the risk is fully justified.
Of course, giving birth at the age of 40, 45 or 50 imposes additional obligations on women: in no case should you avoid visiting doctors!

Late kids, what are they?

Late parents are much calmer, more responsible and wiser in raising their children - this is not discussed, but skeptics even find disadvantages in this!

For example, pediatrician Barry Walters believes that the birth of a child after 40 is nothing more than female selfishness. His arguments, let's say, are interesting: they say, if a lady gives birth at 40, 45 or 50 years old, then she dooms her baby in advance to take care of her sick, aging mother. And all because by this age she acquires a bunch of sores and will still pass them on to her offspring ...

But scientists from University College and Birkbeck College, in London, in the course of research, found out that children - the fruits of late birth are much smarter, smarter than their peers, get sick less often (as opposed to the words of a world-famous pediatrician), adapt and socialize more easily. The most talented among the subjects were also among the children born to mothers after 40 years.

Scientists attribute this to the fact that mothers after 40 are much better prepared for their role: they are calmer, more balanced, less impulsive, but more attentive to their children, do a lot with them and completely devote themselves to taking care of them.

To give birth or not to give birth? That is the question!

Of course, give birth! And at 40, and at 45, and at least at 50, if a woman is healthy or at least relatively healthy, and takes care of herself, feels strength and vitality in herself, and also has a great desire to give life, educate and put on the feet of a new little man, then there is nothing terrible in late childbirth!

In order for late childbirth to pass without complications, you need:

  1. Monitor your health: walk more often, eat right, engage in passive sports such as yoga or swimming, do gymnastics for pregnant women (that is, physically actively prepare for childbirth), eliminate stress and always be in touch with your doctor;
  2. Pass the necessary examinations in time, do not refuse the test for chromosomal abnormalities of the fetus and other various pathologies - many problems can be solved by intrauterine treatment;
  3. Do not refuse inpatient treatment if any complications arise;
  4. Charge with positive, do not be afraid of childbirth, do not pay attention to those who react negatively and endlessly love your unborn child!

Video about late birth in the program "Let them talk"

Has your biological clock slowed down? Today's 50-year-old women are not going to retire. They start new projects, radically change their lives and even ... give birth to children.

For 55-year-old Irina Mlodik, daughter Ethel became the first child. Her husband, People's Artist Emmanuil Vitorgan, is 78 years old. At first it was assumed that the couple turned to a surrogate mother, but it turned out that Irina had been preparing for pregnancy for a long time and managed to give birth to an heiress on her own.

“Emmochka and I dreamed for a long time, thought about the child. But first I had to overcome my health problems, ”the newly-made mother told reporters.

The news of the birth of a child in a star family excited the public. Where the first-born after 30 is still considered a "leap into the last car", a 50-year-old woman who has become a mother for the first time defies not only the ticking clock.

Is Irina's case an exception or an illustration of the new possibilities of modern women and modern medicine? "Cleo" understands together with experts.

YULIA GENNADIEVNA SIVERTSOVA, pediatrician, medical director of the network of private clinics "AVS-medicine"

Quite often, women become pregnant precisely in the period after 50, when they are sure that they are no longer able to conceive or give birth. But the birth of a child is absolutely possible after 50 years, even closer to 60 years.

Almost always, such women in labor are offered a caesarean section. Childbirth for the female body is a lot of stress and heavy workload. Given that Irina Mlodik is the first child, she could hardly give birth on her own. In order to push the baby out of the uterus, great physical effort is required, including muscle tension. At this age, it is almost impossible to give birth on your own.

The main problems are to conceive, keep in the first months, endure and give birth. It is quite possible to endure after 50 years, observing a sparing lifestyle.

The most difficult thing in such a period is the consumption of calcium, the load on the joints, and the unpredictable effect on vision. A woman who decides to become pregnant after 50 years of age will need constant monitoring by neurologists, ophthalmologists, gynecologists, endocrinologists, osteopaths, and psychologists.

You also need to be prepared for fundamental changes in lifestyle, functional features, up to a change in taste sensations. Support and understanding of loved ones will be needed.

Of course, when a woman has such an opportunity, including financially, it is possible to bear and give birth to a child.

To assert that the late child will be one hundred percent healthy, not a single doctor will undertake. Late pregnancy, especially after 50 years, one way or another will affect his health. Even if the child was conceived through IVF and the most viable egg was chosen in the process. Such children should be under constant supervision of doctors, especially neurologists.

The case of Irina Mlodik is far from isolated. Janet Jackson gave birth to her first child in January 2017. The American singer at that time was 50 years old. Janet, despite her age, led a very active lifestyle during pregnancy. The star rarely appeared in public, but regularly went for walks.

Shortly after the birth of her son, the singer divorced his father, a Qatari millionaire. Her husband demanded that she lead a closed life, which the freedom-loving Janet did not want to put up with. By the way, according to rumors, after giving birth, Jackson lost almost 50 kg.

Nonna Hovsepyan, gynecologist

By themselves, childbirth after 50 speaks of a woman's good reproductive potential, as well as her good hormonal background. Despite this, any pregnancy at this age should proceed with hormonal support and under the strict supervision of a gynecologist. Recently, such cases happen, they write about them, they talk about them, but they are not frequent.

By themselves, pregnancy and childbirth rebuild the body of a woman, increase the level of the main female hormones - estrogen and progesterone. It is they who define a woman's youth.

During pregnancy, the level of sex hormones rises, and in this regard, we can say that a woman's body is rejuvenated - the female reproductive system begins to work in a more updated form.

If a woman is healthy herself and does not have serious chronic diseases, then she has every chance to give birth to a healthy child. But for most women after 50, these chances are minimal, since by this age, as a rule, there is already a certain baggage of chronic diseases. Any somatic illness can affect the health of the child, just as pregnancy itself can affect the exacerbation of a chronic illness in a woman. Therefore, the risks of a woman are associated with many factors.

In addition to the health of a woman and a child, one of the main issues of late childbirth is the future of children. How will the huge gap between generations affect the upbringing of a late child? Should mature parents seriously worry about this?

ANNA KULIKOVA, psychotherapist

By the age of 50 and older, a woman can come with a good amount of knowledge. She is emotionally ready for the birth of a child: career aspirations have been realized, there is stability in other areas of life. Such a mother can fully devote herself to raising a child. A young mother, on the contrary, builds a career, completes the process of personal development, while being forced to devote time to the baby.

On the other hand, the root cause is important. Why couldn't a woman give birth before the age of 50? Perhaps it was her personal choice, maybe health problems interfered, or it just didn’t work out. This is often the case in today's world.

If the child is long-awaited, a woman can become an overprotective mother, preventing the child from developing fully. When deciding on such a serious and responsible step as late birth, you need to be aware of these features and try to prevent overprotection and control over the child.

Society, unfortunately, condemns late childbirth. Our society, in principle, seeks to condemn those people who go beyond the generally accepted norms. It is almost impossible to please everyone and please everyone. A mature woman is a mature woman for that, so as not to react to some minor attacks and not to perceive inadequate criticism addressed to her. The main thing is to understand why such a step as giving birth after 50 is needed, and also to allow people to have a different point of view.

It is clear that the values of a young and mature mother will be somewhat different, there will be a different level of culture, there will be different ideas about some products of technological progress, gadgets, for example.

But when people strive to build healthy relationships and are ready to hear each other, age is not a hindrance to this. And people who have experience and healthy values can give a child much more knowledge, morality, resources for life than modern young parents who do not develop.

Give birth at 50

Tatyana Fedorova, a resident of Matveev Kurgan, became a happy mother at the age of fifty.

Our newspaper talked about Tatiana in one of the issues of Delovoy Mius dedicated to Tatiana's Day. The woman who remained after the death of her husband with a small daughter in her arms, married a man who had lost his wife, who also had two young sons. Spouses Fedorovs for a long life for two raised and "raised" three children. Lived to gray hair, waited for grandchildren. And this year we learned that in the life of even “age” parents, real miracles sometimes happen when Continuation is born from Great Love. We met with Tatyana and asked her to tell about this story.

This spring, my husband and I turned 50 years old. Adult children, grandchildren are growing up, old age looms ahead. And suddenly we both find out that we will have a child. We did not even think that such a miracle in our family is still possible.

There was a huge surprise. Imagine, my husband and I find out that I am pregnant, the period is already 22 weeks, and there will be a boy. Therefore, the decision to give birth or not was not even discussed.

The husband said: “We will have this child - special. Look, other parents of their children are waiting for several years, and after conception - for another 9 months. And God pleased us - he appointed himself to wait only three months. This gift, this grace, must be greatly appreciated and loved.

The pregnancy proceeded normally. But then the heat took its toll and my blood pressure rose. I had to go to the hospital on the recommendation of doctors. I got registered for pregnancy and childbirth at the polyclinic of the Neklinovsky Central District Hospital, and also went to the preservation in Pokrovsky.

So you ask, did the doctors scare me with complications? Nobody was afraid of anything. On the contrary, surrounded by care and attention. My attending physician - an obstetrician-gynecologist and "uzist" Valery Yuryevich Olgeyser - is a true specialist in his field, especially since I had an "unusual" patient, "aged", so to speak. Therefore, the only, perhaps, my inconvenience: I constantly had to take tests, including some most modern studies, so that everything was definitely normal.

And in this hospital they told me: “Well, age, of course. But even before they gave birth at that age, you are not the first. And everyone has complications - even the youngest and healthiest. Everyone gives birth, and you give birth!

After the course of treatment, I was sent straight from the hospital to the Veshensky sanatorium, where my husband took me. The sanatorium is located in the beautiful Sholokhov Cossack places, where there are beautiful streets and squares, where the world-famous sculptural Grigory and Aksinya stand. Just during my stay in the sanatorium there was a meeting of the Cossacks of Russia. It was very interesting: concerts, horse riding, exhibitions.

After returning from the sanatorium, the doctors again ordered me to go to the maternity hospital, where I was again surrounded by attentive doctors, nurses, orderlies - all people with a capital letter, giving their whole soul to work. They called me, inquiring about how I felt, even in a sanatorium. And now the head nurse from the maternity hospital still calls me, asking how I'm doing. Very good, sympathetic people work in the maternity hospital in Neklinovka.

I was also sent for examination to Rostov, to the Second Regional Hospital. But at that time, the maternity hospital was closed there for planned preventive maintenance. And I just had nowhere to go. And only Neklinovka accepted me, "age", took back.

For a period of 38 weeks, I was scheduled for a planned caesarean section. But at the same time, I started bleeding heavily, I lost two liters of blood in half an hour, and the operation turned out to be unscheduled. A team of 12 people was urgently assembled, headed by the head of the department, Gennady Nikolayevich Tishchenko, and my attending physician, Olgeiser, who operated on me for three hours.

It could, of course, all end tragically, but it ended very well. And thanks to our doctors, their professionalism. On August 21, 2015, a new man was born, a boy, weighing 3400, who was named Arseny.

Why - Arseny? They looked at Christmas time when to give birth, and it turned out that Arseny was the most suitable name. I was still talking to him in my stomach, like with Arseny. And he, on the "ultrasound" was visible, lay in his stomach, sucked his thumb and smiled.

Now he is 3 months old, I have already recovered a little, I came to my senses, and today I want to say a huge thank you to the doctors of the Neklinovskaya hospital, the entire staff of the operating unit, intensive care unit, maternity ward, for giving Arseniy and me life. All of them are great, thank you very much!

How did the husband perceive the birth of a son? Positive, very positive! My husband was very happy, very happy! Now constantly "wears" with our baby. The son is already “gurgling” with might and main, and a few days ago his teeth began to cut. Yes, teeth! Arseny suddenly had a sharp rise in temperature. We got scared and called the pediatrician. And he looked, said: “The child’s gums are swollen, drooling is flowing and the teeth are out, they are starting to cut! That's why the temperature has risen." We bought a gel, we smear the gums, it became better.

And in general, I look: what a wonderful child we have! I breastfeed him and supplement him with formula. He easily rolls over on his side, grabs his fingers and also easily, without effort, rises. Plays with rattles with might and main. "Thermonuclear" child, modern! We took him to Taganrog, completely examined him. Passed all the studies, passed all the tests. The doctors took a look and said that everything is fine with us, there are no deviations and pathologies. And it even seems to me that he is growing and developing better than it was many years ago with my daughter.

My adult daughter is also very happy with her brother: she travels, nurses. "Hamster" - he calls him. And the granddaughter - she would not have gone to school if they had allowed her to sit with Arseny. She reads her books to him, assignments that are given in class. He listens and "answers", "hags". Granddaughter and says: “Grandma! Look, he already understands everything, everything that I tell him! I answer: “Of course, he understands! Look, he will speak English with you soon!” So it turned out that the uncle and niece are friends, and the uncle is 8 years younger than the niece ...

They say that a woman “blooms” after childbirth, gets younger. This is true. I arrived at the hospital two months after the operation, all the nurses said: “You are very rejuvenated!” And vivacity, and lightness I have some appeared. Well, what a small child! You need to get up to him at night, and feed, and swaddle, and wrap up, and bathe. Arseny loves to swim very much. We put him on his stomach, and he himself twists his legs, "floats", and look, he really swims.

My husband and I had to forget about age, forget about everything. This feeling is like being born again. And to be next to your child, to feel his smell - this is all pleasure, satisfaction, great parental happiness. “Googles”, looks at you, and his eyes are huge, blue, his hair is long. You look and think: "Here it is - happiness!" - and my heart skips a beat.

Someone may say: “I’ve lost my mind - to give birth at 50! The child needs to be raised, and what years already! Well, how much longer will it be possible to live! And I will answer like this: “You don’t have to think about age. You need to think about the present day and live, really live, for your child, and not "for yourself." And age will recede immediately. And God will add life. In our family, even my grandmother became younger, my mother. And she is 70 years old. She takes Arseniy in her arms, nurses, and her wrinkles are smoothed out, and her hands do not shake.

This is a very great happiness and a great gift of God - a child, at whatever age he comes to the family to his parents.

And yet, the child is a completely different brain from the parents. You begin to perceive everything somehow differently, much more meaningfully, you love life much more. After all, a child with “adult” parents is not because it is “needed”, it is precisely a gift from God, the joy of the soul!

Pros and cons of late pregnancy and childbirth

Of course, with all the joy from the upcoming motherhood, no matter at what age it happened, any woman should always be aware of the responsibility that lies on her. And always evaluate your state of health, your capabilities. If there are any problems with it, it is best if the pregnancy is observed by an experienced, good doctor. Well, and accordingly, you need to be prepared for the fact that in order to give birth to a healthy child, the expectant mother will have to become very disciplined, sacrifice a lot, including spending a lot of time in the hospital, where she can be helped in time if necessary.

Risks for mom: Miscarriage (the risk of such consequences after 30 years is 17 percent, and after 40 - already 33 percent of all pregnancies. At the same time, with age, a woman's ability to conceive naturally decreases as well). Problems with the placenta (premature abruption, incorrect location, chronic placental insufficiency). Exacerbation of any chronic diseases. The risk of preeclampsia (late toxicosis of pregnancy: edema, protein in the urine, increased blood pressure). Risk of developing gestational diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure). Bleeding and other complications during childbirth are possible, and often the need for a caesarean section.

Risks for the baby: Possible lack of weight. Risk of hypoxia (suffocation) during childbirth. Risk of preterm birth. The risk of having chromosomal abnormalities.

At the same time, the main thing to remember about a woman who decides to have a baby when she is “aged”: despite all the information about the complications of late pregnancy, statistics show that most women who decide to have a late pregnancy still give birth to absolutely healthy babies. .

According to an article published on the website of Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Russian mothers who gave birth to their first child between the ages of 30 and 40 are now three times more than 20 years ago, and the average age of only primiparas in Russia has come close to 30 years. .

Nezavisimaya Gazeta also cites the results of research by Professor Wayne Catfield from the University of Auckland, published in the Daily Mail. “Scientists, based on a survey of 70 men aged 46 years old, born to middle-aged parents, came to the conclusion that children of older parents have better health. It turned out that they were less likely to have diabetes, high cholesterol and arterial hypertension, even if they were overweight.

Researchers from Birkbeck University London and University College London also examined children born to women over 40 and compared them with those born to mothers in their 20s. Children born to women over 40 were healthier. The study found that children of older mothers are 22% less likely to be injured and nearly 30% less likely to be hospitalized before the age of three. The offspring of older women are also more emotionally well off, since the likelihood of conflict between parents and child is much less. And the development of speech at the age of three to four years is much better in children of older mothers than in young ones.

In the modern world, a huge number of women strive to be "on an equal footing" with men and try to make a career for themselves, completely forgetting that they are able to continue the race. For this reason, late pregnancy for doctors is no longer some special case or exception.

According to the results of multiple studies, doctors concluded that after 35 years, some changes occur in the female body, due to which the chance of giving birth to a healthy child is reduced. This is due to the fact that in the female body from birth there is a certain supply of eggs. By the time of puberty, this reserve is halved, and by the age of 20, the number of eggs is halved. The older the body becomes, the fewer eggs it has left.

Adults are more likely to suffer from serious diseases due to poor ecology. This factor also has a significant impact on the number of healthy eggs.

Can you get pregnant after 50?

As you know, after 45 years in the body of a woman there is a serious change in the hormonal background - and menopause occurs. At this time, the woman's sexual activity is reduced.

However, as long as menstruation has not stopped, the likelihood of becoming pregnant is high. But in medical practice, cases have even been recorded when pregnancy occurs both during menopause (a year after it began) and several years later. The probability of getting pregnant during this period of a woman's life is small, but still it is.

Difficulties of late pregnancy

Women over 40 experience many more health problems during pregnancy than younger women. The most common is hypertension.

Throughout pregnancy, there is an increased risk of placental abruption and the pathological condition of the fetus. As a result, the likelihood of miscarriage increases significantly. But, absolutely at any age, you can avoid these difficulties if you prepare your body in advance of pregnancy.

A woman's body over 40 after childbirth will not recover as quickly as a young one. Rehabilitation will take much more time and effort. In this case, complications in the form of chronic diseases may occur.

Is it worth having a baby?

Late pregnancy causes bright hormonal outbreaks in the body, which may not affect it in the most favorable way. Before you decide whether you are leaving the pregnancy, you need to think about whether you are ready for the birth of a child or not.

Most women over the age of 50, of course, refuse to keep a child. But if you still decide to leave it, then you should consider that now there are two of you and you need to take care of your body twice as well.

Motherhood is always long-awaited and possible at any age. The younger the woman in labor, the easier the whole process from conception to childbirth goes. Women after 50 first of all need to carefully weigh the pros and cons.

Instruction

Since pregnancy is a big burden for the body, and for a woman aged doubly, it is better to consult a specialist. Check your health status. And, if you deliberately decide to have a child at this age, you should be aware of the possible risks.

According to statistics, a woman who has crossed the 50-year mark, the possibility of natural conception decreases. Do not be afraid, but prepare for possible difficulties. Among the risks of late pregnancy, there are such. Frequent cases of premature pregnancy or, this can lead to the death of the mother or fetus. Pathology against the background of hormonal changes. Exacerbation of any age-related diseases in the mother, such as pressure, diabetes, and, as a result, deterioration in the development of the fetus.

There is a high probability of having a child with Down syndrome, according to statistics, 1 out of 10, while for mothers under 30 years old, this probability is 1 in 1000 cases. Weak labor activity. After the age of 50, a woman's muscles begin to atrophy, and this leads to the fact that she cannot give birth on her own. Have a caesarean section. If everything happens naturally, then there is a high probability of rupture of the birth canal. At this age, blood clotting decreases, which leads to the risk of umbilical cord thrombosis, intrauterine growth retardation. Many women in labor experience postpartum depression. In mothers over the age of 50, this is almost a 100% indicator.
