As for gentle methods, their effectiveness is determined by the time that you are willing to devote to removing unaesthetic harvest marks, and your patience. It is worth noting the fact that most recipes still require procedures peeling after treatment with a cleaning compound.

In childhood, many had palms painted with walnut as a symbol of summer. Peeling green walnuts with gloves was not at all interesting, and not carrying gloves with you, right? How to wash your hands from a nut, did not think. Children have grown into adults, they have become more circumspect, but green nuts are still peeled without gloves. Only now the question of how to wash your hands after nuts has become relevant. Many options are given, but most of them are based on a misconception about the nature of the coloring matter of the walnut, and therefore represent a kind of myth about how to clean your hands from nuts.

The "cunning" of walnut juice is that the coloring substance does not appear immediately. When peeling nuts, the hands appear slightly yellowed, and it can be deceived that this color is easily removed by simple hand washing. Literally after a couple of hours, the color appears and turns brown. The shell of unripe walnuts contains juglone dye, which is resistant enough to be used by modern cosmetic brands to create hair dye lines. It is thanks to the high concentration of juglone that the juice from the nuts stains the hands with such a persistent brown color.

How to withdraw walnut juice: myths and reality

Option 1. Lemon vs. Walnut

The most typical advice, and, as they say, the least effective. Based on the whitening effect of citric acid.

Pros: availability of funds.

Minuses: it will take a long time to rub. Possible burns from citric acid on very sensitive skin.

To clean walnut stains, a slice of lemon is enough. You need to rub it on the skin until it brightens. Lemon is said to help with minor jobs, such as removing a walnut stain or whitening lightly colored skin.

Option 2. Unripe green grapes

Minuses: the option is available only to those who grow their own grapes.

The principle of operation is the same as that of lemon and vinegar.

Option 3. How to wash a walnut with a potato?

Some advise to peel a lot of potatoes or grate potatoes and dip your hands into the resulting mass of mashed potatoes and starch. The advice is based on the belief that walnuts stain with iodine, and iodine is known to be washed out with starch.

Pros: availability of funds.

Minuses: The ability of the walnut to color does not depend on the content of iodine in it, but on the amount of the coloring substance juglone. Juglon, even "disguised" as iodine, is poorly excreted by potatoes, so the effectiveness of such a remedy can be questioned.

Option 4. Industrial tools

These include bleach, and industrial soap, which is used to clean the hands of a master in car dealerships, and bleaching powders.

Pros: high activity of substances.

Minuses: skin damage.

The mechanism of action is more similar to the effect on the skin of abrasive substances that erase the top, colored layer of the skin, contributing to a faster renewal of skin cells. But at the same time, chemical components strongly irritate the skin. Such funds do not bring benefits.

Option 5. How to wash a nut with peeling and steaming?

In this case, it is advised to steam the skin in a bath, apply peelings to remove the top layer of skin cells. After steaming, you can use a whitening cream or a slice of lemon. After the procedure, it is better to lubricate the hands moisturizer.

Pros: accessibility, practicality, efficiency.

Minuses: requires time investment.

Since the juglone dye is very persistent, it is quite problematic to discolor the skin. The only option is to wait for a complete change of colored skin, it is to accelerate this process that baths, peels and steaming are aimed. This method helps to cope with a walnut in a couple of days, while minimally injuring the skin.

Larisa , May 2, 2018 .

If children do not even think about how to wash their hands of nuts, then for adults involved in the processing of the crop, this question sometimes becomes very acute. Working with gloves causes a lot of inconvenience, and if you refuse the device, you have to deal with very persistent spots on the surface of the skin that can last up to several days.

Of course, you can just wait, but sometimes you need to wash off the dirt very quickly, and you don’t want your hands to be covered with scratches or signs of irritation after the intervention. People who have been harvesting and harvesting walnuts have long used improvised means to solve the problem. True, it is not easy to get the desired effect with their help.

Important points in the fight against persistent brown spots

In the fight against traces left by pieces of peel and lintels of green nuts, it is important not to forget the following points:

  1. The spots will not appear immediately, but the sooner you start processing, the higher the likelihood of obtaining the desired result. Hands are recommended to be processed immediately after the end of the manipulations with the products, even if they seem to be clean.
  2. Most of the products used are highly aggressive towards delicate skin, so it is better to prevent stains than to deal with them later. It is worth considering that fabric gloves will not save you from walnut juice, you will have to use rubber ones.
  3. Chemical preparations will give the desired effect only in combination with mechanical options for exposure. For this purpose, you can use pumice, sand or scrub.
  4. It is unlikely that it will be possible to completely wash hands from stains in one approach. Pigmented areas will come off only together with the stratum corneum of the epidermis.

Nut peel juice does not do any harm to the body, so if possible, you should just wait a bit. Cleansers should be used only in the most extreme cases.

The most effective means for removing characteristic marks

At home, you can use one of the following natural bleaches:

  • Lemon juice. We take a fresh lemon, cut it into two halves and cut the problem areas with slices. A couple of hours after that, we make a lemon bath for hands, diluting the juice with warm water. The spots will not come off immediately, but will become noticeably lighter. In the evening, it is recommended to treat your hands with a nourishing cream. The next day, we repeat the manipulations, all traces should pass.
  • Hand wash and general cleaning. If you methodically wipe stains on clothes for several hours, treat surfaces in the house, and clean furniture with detergents, you can count on completely getting rid of brown formations. It is best to start the procedures immediately after contact with walnut juice, without waiting for its manifestation.
  • Juice of unripe grapes. Works just as active as lemon juice. Hands are treated with individual grapes or placed in a whole bath of squeezed composition. Then the skin should be thoroughly washed with laundry soap.

Tip: If you can't get rid of stains with fruit juices, try a more intense approach. The product is applied to the skin of the hands, after which we wrap them plastic bags and put on mittens. We wash off the composition no later than an hour later.

  • Sea salt or sea water. If it is not possible to swim in the sea, you can make a bath based on sea salt. The procedure should be repeated every 3-4 hours until the desired result is obtained. In between baths, it is recommended to apply a nourishing cream to the skin.
  • Hydrogen peroxide. Works only on very fresh walnut juice stains. Apply the product to a cotton pad and gently wipe the product off the skin. After the development of brown color, it is useless.
  • Ammonium chloride. This product is also good at removing brown marks. We moisten the cotton wool in alcohol and try to wash the stains first with soft soaking, then rubbing movements. Work must be carried out in a well-ventilated area, otherwise you can provoke a headache attack.
  • Stain removers. The most extreme option. After all, even those preparations that are intended for the treatment of delicate tissues can provoke the appearance of irritations.
  • Laundry soap. By itself, it will not give the desired result, but it is recommended to use it after the listed methods as a final touch.

There is another way to influence spots. It is very soft, but not the most effective. At night, we generously apply a nourishing cream on our hands, wrap them in bags and put on mittens. By morning, the pollution should noticeably turn pale.

The problem, which is less and less encountered, is familiar to most since childhood - how to quickly wash your hands of nuts. Now children and adults have less and less reason to pick nuts on the street, because all the products we love, including nuts, we can easily buy in stores and supermarkets. And the large growth of megacities and cities makes trees less and less accessible to us.

First you need to understand that many types of nuts have dyes, they all work in a similar way. But we have the most common walnut, so we will describe the problems associated with this particular nut, but since all nuts are similar, many methods can be used to launder other nuts.

Hands get dirty mainly during direct interaction with a young green walnut (when cleaning it), because it is very difficult to wash your hands after green walnuts. And the thing is that the so-called Yuglon is present in it - this is a natural dye that is very difficult to wash off. It is important that if the dye gets on your skin, you will not see it immediately, but only after a certain time, this is all the insidiousness given substance. You also need to know that there is almost no Juglone (dye) in ripe nuts and nuts on the ground.

It is young fruits that need to be feared, since it is much more difficult to wash your hands from a green walnut, because there is a lot of juice with a dye in the green shell. Therefore, it is advisable to clean the walnut with gloves. Rubber gloves should be chosen so that the hands are well protected and the juice cannot pass through them.

Interesting: The natural dye found in walnuts is so strong that many hair dye companies use it.

Nowadays, there is a huge selection of various detergents, including skin cleansing products. But, despite all their diversity, most of them will not be able to wash their hands of a young walnut. And some will wash only slightly. To help cope with this, the so-called folk remedies will help us:

  1. The first and most common way is with a lemon. The most common, but the least effective and the safest. First you need to heat the water in the container, then you need to squeeze a lemon (usually half) there, dirty hands should be washed directly in this water with a washcloth (make sure that the water does not cool down). Gradually, you need to move on to the lemons themselves to rub dirty places with it. Of course, you can do without water and start rubbing immediately with lemon.
  2. An unripe grape also works like a lemon. It is enough just to rub it on a dirty place for a long time.
  3. Raw potatoes are advised to grate, and then throw the resulting slurry into the water, in which you need to rub the dye. But the effectiveness of this method is highly questionable.

How to wash your hands after peeling walnuts yet, so it's industrial and chemicals, they have a very high efficiency, but they can seriously damage the skin, so they must be used very carefully. These are substances such as:

  1. Bleach
  2. Bleach powders
  3. Kerosene
  4. Petrol

You can use other similar products, but we do not recommend rubbing the skin with them. In addition, after applying them, you need to rinse your hand as soon as possible so as not to cause severe irritation.

Another way to wash your hands from a nut is by steaming or peeling. But after that, it is necessary to moisturize the skin with a cream. But it is worth considering the fact that walnut stains are very difficult to discolor.
