In connection with the forthcoming in January 2005 the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Moscow state university named after M.V. Lomonosov President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin issued Decree N 1795 dated 27.10.2001.

In pursuance of the Decree of the President, the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation N 1807-r of December 21, 2001 was issued on the establishment of an organizing committee for the preparation and holding of events dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the founding of Moscow State University.

1. Based on the protocol decision of the first meeting of the organizing committee, the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation N 207-r dated February 17, 2003 was issued. this moment Three meetings of the Organizing Committee took place. The next meeting of the Organizing Committee took place on June 24, 2004.
2. Since January 2004, the Headquarters "250 Years of Moscow State University" has been operating, a database has been developed and network diagram preparation of anniversary events.
3. A set of all questions for 2004-2005. on the 250th anniversary of Moscow State University was considered in April and October 2004 at meetings of deans and directors of institutes.
4. The text and melody of the Anthem of Moscow State University have been approved, it has been played, recorded, and a circulation on CD is being prepared. Approval of the coat of arms and the flag of Moscow State University is nearing completion.
5. Desktop commemorative medals, commemorative coins and postal signs have been developed and are being made.
6. A complex of issues related to award cases has been resolved. The decision of the Ministry of Labor was made to include the Jubilee badge "250 years of Moscow State University" in the register of awards taken into account when conferring the title "Veteran of Labor".
7. The publishing program "Classical university textbook" is being successfully implemented. About 70 textbooks have been published. More than 700 textbooks and monographs by MSU teachers over the past 5 years have been presented at international book exhibitions in Moscow and Frankfurt.
8. In the cycle of planned jubilee foreign exhibitions, the exhibition "250 Years of Moscow State University" was held in Cairo (Egypt).
9. A part of the portrait gallery of the rectors of Moscow State University was created (Grekov's studio, under the direction of the people's artist S.N. Prisekin).
10. On October 4, 2004, at Moscow University, a memorial plaque was unveiled on the building of the Faculty of Journalism to Professor of Moscow University, the first rector Kyiv University named after St. Vladimir Maksimovich M.A.
11. Preparations are underway to launch a satellite for the 250th anniversary of Moscow State University (SINP).
12. The minor planet UNIVERMOSKOW (GAISH) was named in honor of Moscow State University.
13. Work is underway to create a series of films on the history of Moscow State University (the film was released on RTR, work continues on the creation of a film on ORT and a three-episode documentary film about MSU).
14. The preparations for the Congress of MSU Alumni (December 2-3, 2004), the creation of the database "MSU Alumni" and the Association of MSU Alumni have been launched.
15. Anniversary Lomonosov readings will be held at Moscow State University on November 23 (plenary session) and November 24 (in sections).
