An excerpt characterizing Shipulina, Ekaterina Valentinovna

For the first time, Prince Andrei understood where he was and what had happened to him, and remembered that he had been wounded and that at the moment when the carriage stopped in Mytishchi, he asked to go to the hut. Confused again from pain, he came to his senses another time in the hut, when he was drinking tea, and then again, repeating in his recollection everything that had happened to him, he most vividly imagined that moment at the dressing station when, at the sight of the suffering of a person he did not love , these new thoughts that promised him happiness came to him. And these thoughts, although vague and indefinite, now again took possession of his soul. He remembered that he now had a new happiness and that this happiness had something in common with the Gospel. That's why he asked for the gospel. But the bad position that had been given to his wound, the new turning over again confused his thoughts, and for the third time he woke up to life in the perfect stillness of the night. Everyone was sleeping around him. The cricket was shouting through the entryway, someone was shouting and singing in the street, cockroaches rustled on the table and icons, in autumn a thick fly beat on his headboard and near a tallow candle that had burned big mushroom and standing next to him.
His soul was not in a normal state. Healthy man he usually thinks, feels and remembers at the same time about an innumerable number of objects, but he has power and strength, having chosen one series of thoughts or phenomena, to stop all his attention on this series of phenomena. A healthy person, in a moment of deepest reflection, breaks away to say a courteous word to the person who has entered, and again returns to his thoughts. The soul of Prince Andrei was not in a normal state in this respect. All the forces of his soul were more active, clearer than ever, but they acted outside of his will. The most diverse thoughts and ideas simultaneously owned him. Sometimes his thought suddenly began to work, and with such force, clarity and depth, with which it had never been able to act in a healthy state; but suddenly, in the middle of her work, she broke off, was replaced by some unexpected performance, and there was no strength to return to her.
“Yes, a new happiness has opened up to me, inalienable from a person,” he thought, lying in a half-dark, quiet hut and looking ahead with feverishly open, stopped eyes. Happiness that is outside the material forces, outside the material external influences on a person, the happiness of one soul, the happiness of love! Any person can understand it, but only God alone can recognize and prescribe its motif. But how did God ordain this law? Why a son? .. And suddenly the train of these thoughts was interrupted, and Prince Andrei heard (not knowing whether he was delirious or really hears this), heard some kind of quiet, whispering voice, incessantly repeating to the beat: “And drink, drink, drink,” then “and ti ti” again “and drink ti ti” again “and ti ti”. At the same time, to the sound of this whispering music, Prince Andrei felt that some strange airy building of thin needles or splinters was being erected above his face, above the very middle. He felt (although it was hard for him) that he had to diligently keep his balance so that the building that was being erected would not collapse; but it still collapsed and again slowly rose to the sounds of evenly whispering music. "It's pulling! stretches! stretches and everything stretches, ”Prince Andrei said to himself. Together with listening to the whisper and with the feeling of this stretching and rising building of needles, Prince Andrei saw in fits and starts the red light of a candle surrounded by a circle and heard the rustling of cockroaches and the rustling of a fly beating on the pillow and on his face. And every time a fly touched his face, it produced a burning sensation; but at the same time he was surprised that, striking in the very region of the building erected on the face of his face, the fly did not destroy it. But besides that, there was one more important thing. It was white at the door, it was a statue of a sphinx that crushed him too.
“But maybe this is my shirt on the table,” thought Prince Andrei, “and these are my legs, and this is the door; but why is everything stretching and moving forward and drink, drink, drink, and drink—and drink, drink, drink…” “That’s enough, stop it, please leave it,” Prince Andrei begged someone heavily. And suddenly the thought and feeling came up again with unusual clarity and force.
“Yes, love,” he thought again with perfect clarity), but not the love that loves for something, for something or for some reason, but the love that I experienced for the first time when, dying, I saw my enemy and still loved him. I experienced that feeling of love, which is the very essence of the soul and for which no object is needed. I still have that blissful feeling. Love your neighbors, love your enemies. To love everything is to love God in all manifestations. You can love a dear person with human love; but only the enemy can be loved with divine love. And from this I experienced such joy when I felt that I love that person. What about him? Is he alive... Loving with human love, one can move from love to hatred; but divine love cannot change. Nothing, not death, nothing can destroy it. She is the essence of the soul. And how many people I hated in my life. And of all people, I did not love or hate anyone else like her. And he vividly imagined Natasha, not in the way he had imagined her before, with only her charm, joyful for himself; but for the first time imagined her soul. And he understood her feeling, her suffering, shame, repentance. He now for the first time understood the cruelty of his refusal, saw the cruelty of his break with her. “If only it were possible for me to see her one more time. Once, looking into those eyes, say ... "
And drink, drink, drink, and drink, and drink, drink - boom, a fly hit ... And his attention was suddenly transferred to another world of reality and delirium, in which something special was happening. Everything in this world was still being erected, without collapsing, the building, something was still stretching, the same candle was burning with a red circle, the same Sphinx shirt was lying at the door; but besides all this, something creaked, smelled of fresh wind, and a new white sphinx, standing, appeared before the door. And in the head of this sphinx there was a pale face and shining eyes of that same Natasha, of whom he was now thinking.
“Oh, how heavy is this incessant nonsense!” thought Prince Andrei, trying to drive this face out of his imagination. But this face stood before him with the force of reality, and this face drew nearer. Prince Andrei wanted to return to the former world of pure thought, but he could not, and delirium drew him into his own realm. A quiet whispering voice continued its measured babble, something pressed, stretched, and a strange face stood before him. Prince Andrei gathered all his strength to come to his senses; he stirred, and suddenly there was a ringing in his ears, his eyes became dim, and he, like a man who has plunged into water, lost consciousness. When he woke up, Natasha, that very living Natasha, whom, of all the people in the world, he most of all wanted to love with that new, pure divine love that was now revealed to him, was kneeling before him. He realized that it was a living, real Natasha, and was not surprised, but quietly delighted. Natasha, on her knees, frightened, but chained (she could not move), looked at him, holding back her sobs. Her face was pale and motionless. Only in the lower part of it fluttered something.
Prince Andrei breathed a sigh of relief, smiled and held out his hand.
- You? - he said. - How happy!
Natasha with a quick but careful movement moved towards him on her knees and, carefully taking his hand, bent over her face and began to kiss her, slightly touching her lips.
- Sorry! she said in a whisper, raising her head and looking at him. - Forgive me!
“I love you,” said Prince Andrei.
- Sorry…
- Forgive what? asked Prince Andrew.
“Forgive me for what I did,” Natasha said in a barely audible, interrupted whisper and began to kiss her hand more often, slightly touching her lips.
“I love you more, better than before,” said Prince Andrei, raising her face with his hand so that he could look into her eyes.
Those eyes, filled with happy tears, looked at him timidly, compassionately and joyfully with love. Natasha's thin and pale face with swollen lips was more than ugly, it was terrible. But Prince Andrei did not see this face, he saw shining eyes that were beautiful. Behind them, a voice was heard.
Pyotr the valet, now completely awake from sleep, woke the doctor. Timokhin, who could not sleep all the time because of the pain in his leg, had long seen everything that was being done, and, diligently covering his undressed body with a sheet, huddled on the bench.
- What is this? said the doctor, rising from his bed. “Let me go, sir.”
At the same time, a girl knocked on the door, sent by the countess, missing her daughter.
Like a somnambulist who was awakened in the middle of her sleep, Natasha left the room and, returning to her hut, fell on her bed sobbing.

From that day on, during the entire further journey of the Rostovs, at all rests and overnight stays, Natasha did not leave the wounded Bolkonsky, and the doctor had to admit that he did not expect from the girl either such firmness or such skill in walking after the wounded.
No matter how terrible the idea seemed to the countess that Prince Andrei could (very likely, according to the doctor) die during the journey in the arms of her daughter, she could not resist Natasha. Although, as a result of the now established rapprochement between the wounded Prince Andrei and Natasha, it occurred to me that in the event of recovery, the former relations between the bride and groom would be resumed, no one, still less Natasha and Prince Andrei, spoke about this: the unresolved, hanging question of life or death was not only over Bolkonsky, but over Russia obscured all other assumptions.

How many talented musicians, singers, artists did not receive the world due to the fact that parents "pressed" on the child and forced him to study. The result - the craving for art completely disappears, and humanity loses another genius. The biography of Denis Matsuev, a talented academic and jazz pianist, is a case “from the opposite”.

The childhood of Denis Matsuev

In Irkutsk, Siberia, on June 11, 1975, the boy Denis Matsuev was born, whose family knew firsthand about the world of art. Denis's grandfather worked in a circus orchestra, his mother taught music, his father was the head of the city drama theater, he wrote music.

Denis Matsuev in childhood, 11 years old

The child received the first soft impetus to the development of talent at the age of 4, when his parents noticed that he had hearing and the ease with which he, like a child, but already competently reproduced well-known melodies.

Although Denis began to seriously study music in early childhood, no one at school could call him a “nerd”: he was cheerful, sociable, and at that time he was a fan of football and hockey! Denis was so passionate about it that he broke his arm twice on the rink.

The music to which it was intended did not let go, it reminded me of itself with all its might. As a classmate of the genius Dina Ivanova said, at school between lessons he sang loudly, running around the school, a motive from “Slave Izaura”, a series that everyone was passionate about at that time.

The beginning of the career of Denis Matsuev

The outstanding pianist always emphasizes that it was his parents who lovingly guided him to musical glory in his childhood and youth. For the sake of their son and his future, they left an established life in Irkutsk, moved to Moscow, rented a tiny apartment, if only Denis continued to study in the capital.

Music school at the Conservatory. Tchaikovsky, where Denis Matsuev began to study in 1990, three more years at the Moscow Conservatory - here it is, the beginning of the road to great success. Public Charitable Foundation "New Names" organizes competitions for young geniuses. Thanks to them, Denis got the opportunity to demonstrate his talent in England, France and more than 40 countries around the world.

Denis studied in the class of Professor Sergei Dorensky

Having won the XI International Competition named after Tchaikovsky in 1998, a young conservatory graduate literally “blew up” the musical world with his talent. Until now, the pianist considers this victory in the competition one of his main achievements. Moreover, he ensured his success with an unusual style of performance: instead of the usual, dryish academic style, he chose a concert style.

The year 2004 was notable for the fact that the musician presented his personal annual subscription “Soloist Denis Matsuev” as part of the Moscow Philharmonic concerts. Famous ensembles were involved in the concerts, among them the Orchestra of Soloists under the direction of Spivakov.

The contract with SONY BMG Music Entertainment gave a new impetus to the fact that even more music fans learned about Denis Matsuev: discs with recordings of his performances were sold out instantly.

World fame of Denis Matsuev

Now in this talented musician, tall and attractive man, you can hardly recognize the boy, whom the physical education teacher at school, because of his small stature, jokingly called "Gritsatsuev".

Matsuev retained his love for football since childhood

Denis Matsuev, who could not imagine his life without football in his childhood, still retained his sports enthusiasm and non-standard, lively approach to music. Significant event in the career of a pianist - the release in 2015 of the solo disc "Unknown Rachmaninov" at the suggestion of the composer's grandson.

Alexander Rachmaninov concluded a friendly agreement with Matsuev: the pianist would record a disc, performing a hitherto unknown fugue and suite, if he quit smoking (by the way, the musician fulfilled the agreement). The project was also unusual in that the music was performed on Rachmaninoff's personal piano.

Matsuev quit smoking to play unreleased works by Rachmaninoff

Festivals and concerts, various musical projects - it is impossible to list everything that Denis Matsuev does. He is a regular participant in the annual autumn international festival "Stars of Baikal" in Irkutsk, artistic director of the forum for a new generation of musicians Crescendo. Competition for young pianists Astana Piano Passion international scale boasts that Denis is its artistic director.

The orchestra of Milan's La Scala, the Royal Scottish National Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the symphony orchestras of the USA, France, Germany - far from full list teams with which Denis Matsuev collaborates. The New Names Charitable Foundation, of which Denis was a pupil, is now proud that Matsuev is its president.

A concert anywhere in the world by this pianist is a full house and instantly sold tickets. According to the newspaper Le Devoir (Montreal), Denis Matsuev is not just a genius: he is passionate and generous in the manner of conveying music to the public, his performance technique is perfect, at the same time free and natural.

The talented musician is actively involved in charity work. For example, in June 2017 he gave a concert for visually impaired young musicians in Krasnodar. He not only played, but after the concert he talked with the children who came to his performance.

Personal life of Denis Matsuev

Brilliant pianist, talented leader, philanthropist, Denis - happy husband and father. The marriage to the prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater Ekaterina Shipulina and the birth of Anna's daughter in October 2016 were not ignored by the press, but there was a minimum of comments from the "star" of events.

According to Denis himself, he does not feel the need to talk about his personal life. The main thing for him is happiness in the family, and he is not offended by journalists for their annoying interest, such is their job.

Hobbies of Denis Matsuev

Sport, a childhood hobby, still does not release Denis from captivity: he plays football, tennis, goes bowling, and is a fan of Spartak.

Denis Matsuev is a fan of Spartak

A real Siberian, he goes to the bathhouse with pleasure, makes trips to Lake Baikal with his friends. Siberian forests, according to him - a place where he can wander, shout and throw out energy in nature.

Denis loves to relax in nature

A fan of the Sovremennik Theater, Denis Matsuev is very friendly with Galina Volchek. The musician is not only interested in classical music. For example, the project "Jazz in the Circle of Friends", according to him, is an improvisation of jazz with classical hands.

Very cultured, impeccably educated and even a little old-fashioned - in a word, a true gentleman. Such is still a very young, but already world-famous pianist Denis Matsuev. He is loved and expected everywhere: wherever he comes, the halls of the conservatory are full to overflowing!

Denis Leonidovich Matsuev - Short Biography

Russian virtuoso pianist and musical and public figure.

National artist Russian Federation, laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation.

In 2004, Denis Matsuev organized the international festival "Stars on Baikal", which now takes place every year in Irkutsk.

Artistic director of the Crescendo competition, a forum for young musicians that has been held since 2003.

In his native Irkutsk, he opened a concert hall for 60 people, it is called the House of Music of Denis Matsuev. The city also does not forget about Denis - in 2001, the musician Matsuev was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Irkutsk".

Denis Matsuev prefers to remain silent about his personal life, however, he was not married, he has no children.

In the biography, a young guy from Irkutsk, Denis Matsuev, had no chance of escaping a profession related to music! His parents were directly connected with the world of harmony of sounds. Music teacher mom and leading composer at the theater school dad - figuratively speaking, Matsuev's entire childhood biography was accompanied by music.

While still very young, Denis greatly pleased his parents: he went to the piano and played a melody from the weather forecast, which he heard every evening on the evening TV news program. Exchanging glances, mom and dad understood each other without words, and the future of their son was decided. No, no, this does not mean at all that since then he was forced to sit at the keys and hammer out a boring solfeggio.

There was enough time to drive with the boys in the yard, and to break away at the hockey and football stadiums. Actually, he had no complaints about the piano either - he really liked it. Years later, in his interview, Denis will give his parents potential talents useful advice: Don't force children to play! Everyone needs their time - someone an hour, someone four. And there is no point in coercion.

In order not to sacrifice the childhood of their child to future achievements, reasonable adults completely adjusted to it. Two grandmothers hurried to retire early, if only to help the young talent, look after him and in every possible way encourage his desire to learn the game. Of course, very soon all this bore fruit!

Already at the age of 9, Denis played a Haydn concerto with the Irkutsk Symphony Orchestra on the stage of the main city philharmonic society. Sounds impressive, doesn't it? Nevertheless, like any normal child, the guy sometimes rebelled: he was tired of his gift, and he tried to run away to the yard boys to play football, fight, - in general, to do what a child prodigy like him was not in status. In addition, he simply raved about sports!

In the capital, they learned about the young talent even before Denis graduated from school. Simultaneously with the certificate of secondary education, Matsuev received an invitation to study at the school at the conservatory. They took it without exams. Thousands of young pianists dream of it, but the chance has come young genius. A bright future itself went into his hands, but Denis rebelled - he did not want to leave Irkutsk.

Manipulations went into action: the father hinted that in the capital Denis would be able to go to the matches of the most famous football teams. Only after that the guy got on the train Irkutsk - Moscow. The whole family, sacrificing their career, followed their son, and the grandmother sold her apartment for the sake of her future grandson.

So, Denis Matsuev came to Moscow with his parents and with 14 thousand dollars, which at that time was a very decent amount. After a very short time, the boy won his first metropolitan competition, began to communicate with leading musicians and travel abroad. Where he just did not perform!

And in the Vatican, and in Buckingham Palace, and even at the UN headquarters! But the modest Denis did not turn up his nose: of course, he liked all these capitals of the world, but he loved his homeland no less and traveled around Russia with tours in a reserved seat car. And when they asked him "Why?", he answered: "At the call of the heart."

Denis Matsuev - And sports, and piano, and love

Of course, the dream of not missing a single match of the beloved Spartak at Luzhniki remained a dream - the tour schedule turned out to be too tight. But, despite this, Denis did not leave his passion, but on the contrary, he himself became a player in the Starko football team. Once he even ended the Stars on Baikal festival with a football match - his fellow musicians became the players.

“And what about Matsuev’s personal life?” - you ask. Talking about it is taboo. In various interviews, he calls music the love of his life. Classical - a wife, and jazz - a mistress. "How so?" - Journalists ask in unison. A young, active, athletic, talented and world-famous man still does not have a lady of the heart?

To all this, Denis replies that due to the tight schedule and constant flights, there is a catastrophic lack of time for personal life. However, a real man and should not rattle the names of those he meets. So what if newspapers, magazines and tabloids are full of photos of him with beautiful strangers? There is no talk of marriage or long-term relationships.

Denis Matsuev understands that it will not be easy for his wife to accept his way of life. She will miss him all the time. Relationships where the family is sacrificed to work are easily destroyed, but is this what he strives for?

In general, Matsuev takes love very seriously and is somewhat old-fashioned: he does not recognize communication on the Internet, Skype and SMS. He loves to look into the eyes, give flowers - in general, a romantic! 12992

But even during this time, the boy managed to master the material that his peers had been learning for weeks. The young pianist went in for sports more selflessly, although at one time he was considered the smallest in the class. No one imagined that in his youth the young man would turn into a giant under 2 meters tall (Denis is now 198 cm tall and weighs 85 kg).

After graduating from school, the guy studied for some time at the Irkutsk School of Music, but already at that time he felt the need to continue his studies in the capital.

Together with the label, the musician recorded the first album Tribute to Horowitz. Among the achievements of the musician special place occupies the disc "Unknown Rachmaninov", recorded on the piano, which belonged personally to the great composer. The history of this recording began with the fact that, after a concert in Paris, Alexander, the composer's grandson, suggested that Matsuev perform the fugue and suite of the great composer found in the archives. The pianist's wedding took place in a narrow family circle.

In October 2016, his wife gave Denis a daughter. The girl was named Anna. The pianist told the public about the heiress only a year later, still not showing her photo. Her father noticed Anna's penchant for conducting: during her father's game, the girl moves her hands to the beat.

Among the hobbies of the famous performer are visiting the Russian bath and walking in nature - Matsuev likes to visit Lake Baikal.

The pianist on such trips is often accompanied by his friends. The star of the scene is nostalgic about his city. He decided not to sell or repair his parents' apartment in Irkutsk, but to leave everything as it was. Compatriots also keep the memory of the great maestro. AT home school the desk at which the musician sat, the piano, on which little Denis played at recess.

The pianist also retained a love of football from childhood. Denis is a fan of the Spartak club, and, by his own admission, he was helped to win the Tchaikovsky competition by watching the broadcast of the World Cup instead of listening to the performances of competitors. The musician also remains a fan of the Moscow Sovremennik Theater.
