How do Yandex traffic jams of the Moscow Ring Road 24th km work?

Yandex navigator- the main source of data for traffic jam service. The principle is very simple, a speed sensor is built into the navigator, which understands the average speed on a particular section of the road, therefore, for any change in speed, the system immediately assigns the necessary score. Yandex traffic jams now in MKAD 24th km in real time The map will show the situation on the roads. If during a certain time in this section the speed decreases to 0, then the system determines this section with a status from 6 to 10, depending on the average speed Vehicle, With installed Yandex navigator. Relevance data depends on number of cars and weather conditions , i.e. on the speed of data transfer from cars to satellites.

Traffic jams in neighboring areas:

Every evening, Muscovites leave work - and stand together in traffic jams. In the immovable stream, the residents of the capital exchange jokes, get to know each other, share cigarettes, drinks and food. In short, life is busy. Only sometimes it seems that these traffic jams appear in the city for no apparent reason - in places where there are no accidents, no road works, no reduction in the number of lanes.

MOSLENTA counted the TOP-10 of the most bizarre metropolitan traffic jams and, together with the TsODD, tried to find out why they occur “out of the blue”.

Before turning to the TsODD for clarification, we interviewed drivers in the capital and found out where the most anomalous traffic jams form in Moscow. The list did not include “understandable” places - here are only those where the drivers failed to explain the congestion:

  • Nizhnyaya Maslovka Street and Savelovskaya Overpass
  • TTK in the area from Volgograd to Ryazansky prospects
  • The inner side of the Moscow Ring Road from Lipetskaya Street towards Varshavskoye Highway
  • Nikulinskaya street
  • The outer side of the Moscow Ring Road near Crocus City
  • Timiryazevskaya street
  • Schukinskaya and Infantry streets
  • The outer side of the Moscow Ring Road from the Shchelkovo highway
  • Prospekt Mira near the Severyaninsky overpass
  • 2nd and 3rd Vladimirskaya streets

“It is always possible to figure out what caused a traffic jam in one place or another. Another question is that the reasons for the slowdown in traffic, as well as the solution to this issue, may not be obvious and may not be located next to the traffic jam itself, but several kilometers from it, ”says Andrey Mukhortikov, adviser to the head of the traffic control center.

According to him, these reasons are not so many, they can be counted on the fingers. On the example of several streets from our "ten" Andrey Mukhortikov told in more detail how the traffic jam is formed.

Bottleneck

The classic situation is when the number of lanes decreases on the road. For example, from four to two or from three to one. They are typical for exits from the capital - where the number of lanes decreases after the Moscow Ring Road. The road infrastructure behind the ring road is not developed enough to take a large number of cars.

For example, during the summer season, leaving Moscow is especially difficult along the Leningradskoye, Shchelkovskoye, Volokolamskoye highways and the Enthusiasts highway. In particular, on Leningradskoye Highway, five lanes within the city become three lanes outside the Moscow Ring Road. And daily at evening hours the peak forms a traffic jam about five kilometers long, and drivers lose up to 25 minutes in this place.

On Shchelkovskoye Highway, four lanes in Moscow turn into two lanes in the region, the length of the traffic jam is about 3.2 km, the travel time is 20 minutes.

On the Entuziastov Highway and Volokolamsk Highway, traffic jams are about 2 km long, and the travel time is from 10 to 15 minutes.

Almost always for this reason, traffic jams occur on radial highways - on Mira Avenue in front of the Severyaninsky overpass, on Butyrskaya Street and on Dmitrovskoye Highway in front of the Dmitrovskaya metro station (moreover, there are also ramps to Rustaveli Street, which aggravate the situation), on Leningradsky highway in front of Voykovskaya. This is the same reason and traffic jams in " enchanted place» in the area of Nizhnyaya Maslovka, Butyrskaya street and Savelovskaya overpass. It seems that the drivers here simply refuse to go further and deliberately reduce the speed from 60-80 km / h to some unfortunate 10-15. That is, they do everything so that you suffer in a traffic jam from the Riga overpass, so that later you will be surprised to find out: there are no accidents, everything is free ahead, and ask legitimate question: "What was it?!" And the reason is the merging of several powerful streams with a total width of 7-8 lanes into 4 lanes of the Third Ring ..

Standing exit

If it is impossible to leave the highway due to a narrow exit or a traffic jam further, the “tail” of the traffic jam quickly blocks traffic. For this reason, the inner side of the Third Ring Road is constantly standing before the exit to Mira Avenue. Instead of the provided one lane, drivers often occupy two at once. As a result, instead of three lanes, only two go straight! It turns out the same effect of the "bottleneck", only not because of the narrowing of the road, but because of the "weaning" of the strip by the standing ones. After all, those who are still 3-4 kilometers away from the bottleneck have to slow down.

It is impossible to completely get rid of the problem in this part of the TTC, says Mukhortikov. But to unload the flow and make the movement more free is quite real. For example, to cover the exit from the Third Ring Road to Prospect Mira in two lanes with a safety island so that cars from the Third Ring would drive onto the avenue for more high speed. Thus, the lanes on the TTK will be released faster, the speed will increase, and the congestion, if it does not “come to naught”, then it will become noticeably less.

"Problem" congresses are also familiar to those who daily try to get off the outer Third Ring Road in the area of Volgogradsky and Ryazansky avenues. Even before the beginning of the reconstruction of both roads in the evening, one could spend a couple of hours here. The reason, as in the case of Nizhnyaya Maslovka, is the incorrect organization of the exit from the Third Ring Road in the area Nizhegorodskaya street and Volgogradsky avenue and problems on the avenues themselves, which are not yet able to receive the flow from the Third Ring Road. It is hoped that this problem will be solved by reconstruction.

Broach of highways

At some complex intersections, the operation of traffic lights is set up so that one of the directions has priority and travels, for example, 70% of the time of the traffic light, while others are “clamped” and only 10-15% are allocated to them (in each direction). As a rule, radial, outgoing lines are in priority.

It is for this reason that those who regularly pass in the area of the 2nd and 3rd Vladimirskaya streets suffer. Now the traffic lights are "pulling" the highway of Enthusiasts. In addition, throughout recent years 10 this section of the Moscow road is a zone of fairly intensive work. Two projects are being implemented here simultaneously: the reconstruction of the highway with the creation of dedicated lanes for public transport and construction of a section of the North-Eastern Expressway.

In addition, the Enthusiasts highway is a road that, even without reconstruction, has a number of narrowed sections of the road. “One of the most unpleasant junctions is near the Aviamotornaya metro station,” says Mukhortikov. “There is a metro station, a bridge, traffic lights, traffic in various directions, and tram tracks. We still have some work to do with it. It is possible to unload this section, we see the potential for improvement there. But it must be said right away that this will be a rather complex set of decisions. It is unlikely that here it will be possible to manage only by changing the operation of traffic lights and markings, as we do in most cases. Here, perhaps, something more ambitious is needed. And in any case, we must wait for the completion of construction work.

The same problem is on Nikulinskaya Street, which motorists drew attention to. It is adjacent to Michurinsky Prospekt, which is lined with traffic lights, while Nikulinskaya is left with "crumbs" of the traffic light cycle. The problem can be solved only by building a flyover or at least expanding it in front of the intersection.

"Self-locking" intersections

A common situation is when oncoming left-turn flows at a “boulevard” intersection do not fit into the allotted pockets and block each other’s passage on both sides.

Before the start of reconstruction, there were two such intersections in the vicinity of the Tekstilshchiki metro station. The main traffic jam arose in a small area, but both those who were going to leave the Third Ring Road in this direction and those who were driving along Volgogradka to the center had to suffer because of it, standing in a traffic jam.

The TsODD noted that after the completion of the reconstruction of the roads, these sections will be significantly unloaded, congestion at this interval of the Third Ring Road should disappear or, in any case, decrease.

Lack of stripes

So many cars enter the road section from adjacent streets that additional lanes and “pockets” are needed for free movement.

Those who drive along the inner side of the Moscow Ring Road from Lipetskaya towards Varshavka just suffer from this. There are no detours in this area of Moscow, and everyone who wants to get to the South-West of the capital has to go to the Moscow Ring Road. In theory, additional lanes near the exit from the Moscow Ring Road will be able to maintain the flow rate. On ordinary city roads, this can be done not only by widening the road, but also by reducing the width of existing lanes from the usual 3.75 or 3.5 meters to 3.25 or 3.15 m. The trouble is that this solution not suitable for high-speed MKAD.

The worst offenders

They are always in a hurry, so they don't want to wait for their turn. Such drivers, when turning or exiting, occupy the second lane, which should go straight, and create an obstacle.

Another type of violator is those who are trying to abruptly change lanes from the far left lane to the far right. Due to such "hurried" congestion can form even where the road has the highest capacity. What can we say about places where there are already too many cars?

We have already begun to deal with the perpetrators. Admittedly, it's not very noticeable. CCTV cameras have been installed on some sections of the road, which should record the wrong exit onto the road or exit from the highway or highway.

The only traffic jam from our list that did not fall into any of the listed reasons is located on Schukinskaya and Pekhodnaya streets. The reason, according to the TsODD, turned out to be simple - the reconstruction of the Volokolamsk highway.

For the eyes of an ordinary driver, the situation on this section of the road did not change for several months. There seemed to be no place for a cork to come from. Before the exit to Volokolamka, the drivers usually "flew", and last couple weeks have to drag in the company of the same unfortunate. How so?

“It just seems that nothing changes during the reconstruction of the road. Something happens in the work area every day. Most likely, some part of the roadway in this place was slightly “moved” or blocked. It's not very noticeable to the eye, but throughput roads are affected, ”explains Mukhortikov.

The world can be traced many kilometers of traffic jams, which have become a daily problem for drivers. Traffic jam statistics allows you to get up-to-date information about the density of traffic flows. Thanks to this, drivers can avoid busy roads and not waste time on many hours of traffic jams.

Influencing factors

Why do traffic jams occur? Traffic jam statistics reveal the main factors:

  1. Driver disorganization.
  2. imperfection road junctions that lead to vehicle collisions.
  3. Lack of parking spaces.
  4. Growing number.
  5. Holidays(traffic congestion increases).

If you look at the months, then most often congestion occurs in winter period or early spring. Since the number increases due to weather conditions. In summer, people usually go on vacation. Consequently, the number of cars is reduced and the patency of the roads is improved.

Traffic jam statistics by time shows - congestion weekdays on urban roads occur in the morning and evening hours (08:00–10:00, 18:00–20:00). At this time, people get to work or study.

The indicator grows within 2 weeks, reaching the previous level.

Other cities of the Russian Federation

Google has compiled a list of 10 cities in Russia with the worst congestion. The rating was formed according to the principle of the ratio of speed on a free road to current indicators:

In Samara, traffic congestion is usually higher in the evening . The statistics of traffic jams by day of the week brings Friday to the 1st place. The roads are well passable on Monday and Thursday. In Krasnoyarsk, Monday and Friday are considered difficult days of the week. On the first working day, the morning rush hour is more difficult than on any other day. On weekends, mornings and evenings, the workload is completely absent.

In Ufa, weekday traffic jams start at 7 am, the most difficult time is 8:30–9:20. In the evening, traffic is more difficult. Traffic jam statistics Yandex maps show that at 17.00 traffic congestion begins to rise sharply. Reaching a maximum of 18:10–19:10.

  2. Yellow– you can pass, the speed is lower than usual.
  3. Green- the road is clear.
  4. Brown- traffic blocked.

How does the system work? Information enters the analytical center of the Yandex system from various sources. This includes video cameras and service detectors installed on the main highways of cities. The information is updated every 4 minutes.

Drivers can see the condition of different streets. The Yandex Roads program allows you to know in advance the statistics of traffic jams on the route. By selecting the day and hour, information about possible traffic jams will appear.

You can also learn about the statistics of traffic jams on the M4. Congestion is displayed on the online map. The system shows the situation on the road in real time. Drivers can see what traffic jams are currently in Moscow or St. Petersburg and choose the best route.

We made a rating of Moscow congestion that occurred in 2008. He's amazing. Looking at the numbers (see table), I want to run away from this city! But don't rush. Traffic jams, as it turned out, are not a spontaneous phenomenon. They can be predicted and try not to fall into an ambush. So, there is an opportunity to save time, gasoline and nerves.

RADIAL ROUTES GET UP AT 7.30

Traffic jams from the Moscow Ring Road to the third ring towards the center are formed on radial routes at about 7.30 am. And they last until 10, sometimes until 11 in the morning. The busiest highways are the federal ones: Leningradka, Yaroslavka, Dmitrovka, Kashirka, Varshavka and Entuziastov Highway. As a rule, there are a little less cars on Ostashkovsky and Altufevsky highways.

The same roads get up in the direction of the region at 17.30 - 18 hours. Congestion lasts until 21, less often up to 22 hours.

WHEN THE RINGS CLOSE

The third transport ring, according to the data, most often turns into a parking lot from 8 to 10 and from 16 to 19 hours.

The Garden Ring is unpredictable, especially on weekdays after one in the afternoon. You can get stuck here at any time.

Traffic jams on the Moscow Ring Road most often occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from eight in the morning to eight in the evening. Sometimes it happens that the rings close, that is, the cork is all over the circumference! So, for example, on April 29 last year, as much as at 12 o'clock, from seven in the morning to seven in the evening, the entire outer side of the third transport ring stood up. And all because only one lane was open for traffic in the Lefortovo tunnel. The media warned in advance that there would be an overlap, but many drivers, apparently, did not listen to this.

ON MONDAY - EMPTY, ON FRIDAY - DUST

Monday in Moscow is the freest weekday. According to the metropolitan traffic cops (and experts agree with their opinion), many drivers simply do not want to drive "after yesterday."

Tuesday is one of the busiest days. Firstly, all those who did not dare yesterday are leaving. Secondly, trucks with goods arrive in the capital, which left for us on Monday. And each truck takes up space on the road like five cars!

Wednesday - slightly fewer cars than on Tuesday, but more than on Monday.

Thursday - lots of cars! The working week is in full swing, and the trucks are just leaving for their hometowns - drivers are in a hurry to get home in time for the weekend. On Thursday, according to Yandex. Traffic jams, and the steepest traffic jams in terms of length and duration occur.

Friday - a lot of cars, and less traffic jams than on Thursday.

It's just that on Thursday people finish their working day at about the same time and leave all at once, - explains the head of the collection and processing service of the Analytical Center Vladislav Borodin. - And on Friday people begin to leave work after lunch - for example, to the country. Someone works, as usual, until six, someone is late for a party - after all, they are usually on Fridays. So it turns out that the flow of cars is, as it were, “smeared over”. Although in the summer, when millions of people go to their summer cottages at once, many highways simply stop.

Saturday - traffic jams on the outskirts of the city usually begin at 11 am. People go shopping in shopping centers on the Moscow Ring Road and in the region. In the summer season - traffic jams from 7 - 8 o'clock: those who did not have time on Friday evening are rushing out of town. After 14 hours - relatively free.

Sunday - short traffic jams only at shopping centers. So it is better to go shopping on this day.

WHEN TO LEAVE THE CAR AT THE ENTRY

If it's snowing outside or worse than that, a blizzard, it is better not to use the car, - advises Vladislav Borodin. - It is on these days that a maximum of accidents occur in Moscow and the total length of traffic jams exceeds 500 kilometers. You can just lose a day, or even hit the car. If the yard is foggy, raining, or the city is covered with peat bog smoke, you will spend on average twice as much time on a trip from point A to point B as usual.

EXPERIENCED TIPS

Igor MORZHARETTO, expert of the magazine "Behind the wheel":

Never, even on weekends, do not poke your nose at the third ring between Kutuzovsky Prospekt and Sushchevsky Val and at the intersection with Volgogradka. There is always a blockage!

Try not to go to the Moscow Ring Road on weekdays during the day - it is crammed with transit transport. And at the intersection of the Ring and New Riga traffic jam is generally guaranteed. MKAD is suitable only for night trips.

Ernest TSYGANKOV, Director of the Center for Higher Driving Excellence:

Buy a navigator that reports traffic. Or listen to Avtoradio, they also warn about traffic jams and overlaps.

Do not be lazy and on the weekend work out options for detour routes for those sections where you usually get stuck in traffic.

Do not forget about the old, but very effective ways:

Try not to go on the road in heavy snow, heavy rain or fog - you will surely get into a traffic jam.

If possible, leave early for work so you don't get stuck in traffic at least in the morning.

*total length of traffic jams per day.

AND AT THIS TIME

The number of cars on the roads of Moscow this year, according to the portal, has decreased by 10-20%.
