Strategic Missile Forces Day (Strategic Missile Forces Day). Strategic Missile Forces Day (strategic missile forces day) When is Strategic Missile Forces Day celebrated?

This day in history: I thank comrade Vyacheslav Czech

December 17 in the Armed Forces Russian Federation a memorable day is celebrated - Missile Forces Day strategic purpose(Strategic Missile Forces).

The holiday was established on the basis of the decree of the President of Russia dated December 10, 1995 “On the establishment of the Day of the Strategic Missile Forces and the Day of the Military Space Forces”, and was also confirmed by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated May 31, 2006 “On the establishment professional holidays And memorable days in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation."

On this day in 1959, a decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR was issued, which previously established decision on the creation of a new branch of the Armed Forces.

Until 1995, the day of the Strategic Missile Forces was celebrated on November 19 as the Day missile forces and artillery, which was established by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on November 17, 1964.

The origin of the Strategic Missile Forces is associated with the development of domestic and foreign missile weapons, and then nuclear missile weapons, with their improvement combat use. The material basis for the creation of the Strategic Missile Forces was the deployment in the USSR of a new branch of the defense industry - rocketry.

On May 13, 1946, the Council of Ministers of the USSR adopted a resolution “Issues of rocket weapons” on the creation of a rocket industry in industry and the development of rocket weapons in the army.

This document laid the foundations for the post-war achievements of the USSR in the field of creation and production various types rocket weapons.

The first missile formations created in accordance with the decree were brigades special purpose Reserve of the Supreme High Command (RVGK). The first such brigade was formed in August 1946 on the basis of the 92nd Guards Gomel Mortar Regiment.

In 1946-1959 it was created nuclear missile weapons and the first samples of guided ballistic missiles, missile formations were formed capable of solving operational tasks in front-line operations and strategic tasks in adjacent theaters of military operations. In 1959, the USSR Armed Forces had one formation of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), seven engineering brigades and more than 40 missile engineering regiments medium range(RSD). Moreover, about half of the engineering regiments were part of the long-range aviation of the Air Force.

The need for centralized leadership of troops equipped with strategic missiles determined the organizational design of a new type of armed forces. On December 17, 1959, the resolution of the Presidium of the CPSU Central Committee "On the establishment of the post of Commander-in-Chief of missile units within the Armed Forces of the USSR" and the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR "On the establishment of the post of Commander-in-Chief of missile forces within the Armed Forces of the USSR" were adopted. In accordance with these decisions, the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Strategic Missile Forces was established - Deputy Minister of Defense of the USSR. Hero of the Soviet Union, Chief Marshal of Artillery Mitrofan Nedelin, was appointed the first Commander-in-Chief of the Rocket Forces.

The creation of a new independent branch of the USSR Armed Forces - the Strategic Missile Forces - had a great impact political significance, since before this there was no unified structure for controlling strategic nuclear missile weapons in the hands of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.

In 1959-1965, missile formations and units of intercontinental ballistic missiles and medium-range missiles capable of solving strategic problems in military-geographical areas and in any theaters of military operations were deployed and put on combat duty.

The continuous increase in the quantity and quality characteristics of missile systems in service contributed to the establishment of nuclear parity between the USSR and the USA by the early 1970s. However, the growth in the capabilities of both sides did not stop - more and more advanced missiles appeared in service, and monoblock warheads were replaced by multiple warheads, and soon these multiple warheads received individual guidance. By the mid-1980s, production of mobile Topol ICBMs began, the creation of which was a new step in ensuring stealth and invulnerability strategic forces. Throughout the entire period of the existence of the USSR, the Strategic Missile Forces formed the basis of its strategic forces, they accounted for most of warheads out of the more than 10 thousand that the USSR had by 1991.

The achieved balance of nuclear forces and changes in the military-political situation in the late 1980s - early 1990s made it possible to rethink and evaluate the futility of the arms race and conclude Soviet Union, and then the Russian Federation entered into a series of agreements with the United States on the mutual reduction of strategic nuclear weapons.

Since 1992, a new stage in the development of the Strategic Missile Forces began - the Strategic Missile Forces as a branch of the Armed Forces became part of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the liquidation of the Strategic Missile Forces missile systems outside Russia was carried out, and they were created and placed on combat duty missile system"Topol-M" fifth generation. In 1997, the Strategic Missile Forces merged with the Military Space Forces and the Rocket and Space Defense Forces. From 1997 to 2001, in addition to missile armies and divisions, the Strategic Missile Forces also included military units and launch and control institutions spacecraft, as well as associations and formations of missile and space defense.

Since June 2001, the Strategic Missile Forces have been transformed from a branch of the Armed Forces into two types of troops - the Strategic Missile Forces and the Space Forces.

Currently, the Strategic Missile Forces are a branch of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the main component of its strategic nuclear forces. Strategic Missile Forces are intended for nuclear deterrence possible aggression and defeat as part of strategic nuclear forces or independently massive, group or single nuclear missile strikes of strategic targets located in one or more strategic aerospace directions and forming the basis of the enemy’s military and military-economic potential.

Since 2010, the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces has been Colonel General Sergei Karakaev.

On modern stage its development, the Strategic Missile Forces include three rocket armies, located in Vladimir, Omsk and Orenburg and including 12 missile divisions of constant readiness.

The missile divisions of the Strategic Missile Forces are armed with six types of missile systems, divided by type of deployment into stationary and mobile. The basis of the stationary grouping is the RK with missiles of the “heavy” (RS-20V “Voevoda”) and “light” (RS-18 “Stillet”), RS-12M2 (“Topol-M”) classes. The mobile-based grouping includes the Topol mobile ground-based missile system (GGRK) with the RS-12M missile, the Topol-M with the RS-12M2 monoblock missile, and the Yars PGRK with the RS-12M2R missile and a multiple warhead in a mobile and stationary deployment options.

IN combat strength The Strategic Missile Forces today is about 400 launchers with ICBM. The share of new RCs in the Strategic Missile Forces grouping will constantly increase. It is planned that by 2022 the Strategic Missile Forces will include 100% of new missile forces.

During its history, the Strategic Missile Forces for its intended purpose as military force were never used, but together with other components of the strategic nuclear forces they were visibly present in solving many military-political problems.

The Strategic Missile Forces contain more than two-thirds of the nuclear carriers of Russia's strategic nuclear forces, capable of accomplishing tasks of hitting targets on enemy territory in a matter of minutes.

Every day there are about six thousand people at combat posts as part of the duty forces.

Since the formation of the Strategic Missile Forces, over five thousand missile launches have been carried out, including about 500 combat training ones during the operational and combat training of troops.

Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) as a branch of the Armed Forces were created on December 17, 1959 by decision of the USSR government.

On May 31, 2006, on the basis of Decree of the President of Russia No. 549 “On the establishment of professional holidays and memorable days in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” a holiday of strategic missilemen was established - Strategic Missile Forces Day, celebrated annually on December 17.

The Strategic Missile Forces are the basis of Russia's strategic nuclear forces. The troops consist of missile armies and military units. It includes associations, formations, cosmodromes, training grounds, a separate research station, a research institute, higher military educational institutions, training centers for the training of junior specialists and a school of technicians, arsenals, repair plants, central bases.

In 1997, the merger of the Strategic Missile Forces, the Military Space Forces, and the Missile and Space Defense Forces took place. Air defense The RF Armed Forces into a single branch of the RF Armed Forces - Strategic Missile Forces.

Since June 2001, the Strategic Missile Forces have been transformed into two types of troops - the Strategic Missile Forces and the Space Forces.

The above-mentioned Decree invalidated Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 1239 of December 10, 1995 “On the establishment of the Day of the Strategic Missile Forces and the Day of the Military Space Forces.” Space Forces Day is celebrated annually on October 4th.

Today, the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) are a separate branch of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, a ground component of the strategic nuclear forces. They are in constant combat readiness, and their main armament includes all Russian ground-based intercontinental ballistic missiles mobile and silo-based with nuclear warheads. These are fourth and fifth generation missile systems.

The development strategy of the Strategic Missile Forces for the near future provides, first of all, for maintaining the combat readiness of the existing group of troops, maximizing the extension of the service life of missile systems, as well as developing the system combat control troops and weapons, increasing the share of mobile missile systems capable of penetrating modern and future air defense systems.

The Japanese name for Japan, Nihon (日本), consists of two parts - ni (日) and hon (本), both of which are Sinicisms. The first word (日) in modern Chinese is pronounced rì and, as in Japanese, means “sun” (represented in writing by its ideogram). The second word (本) in modern Chinese is pronounced bӗn. Its original meaning is "root", and the ideogram representing it is the ideogram of the tree mù (木) with a dash added at the bottom to indicate the root. From the meaning of “root” the meaning of “origin” developed, and it was in this sense that it entered the name of Japan Nihon (日本) – “origin of the sun” > “land of the rising sun” (modern Chinese rì bӗn). In ancient Chinese, the word bӗn (本) also had the meaning of “scroll, book.” In modern Chinese it is replaced in this sense by the word shū (書), but remains in it as a counting word for books. The Chinese word bӗn (本) was borrowed into Japanese both in the sense of "root, origin" and in the sense of "scroll, book", and in the form hon (本) meaning book and in modern Japanese. The same Chinese word bӗn (本) meaning “scroll, book” was also borrowed into the ancient Turkic language, where, after adding the Turkic suffix -ig, it acquired the form *küjnig. The Türks brought this word to Europe, where it from the language of the Danube Turkic-speaking Bulgars in the form knig entered the language of the Slavic-speaking Bulgarians and spread through Church Slavonic to other Slavic languages, including Russian.

Thus, Russian word book and the Japanese word hon "book" share a common root of Chinese origin, and the same root appears as the second component in the Japanese name for Japan Nihon.

I hope everything is clear?)))

We should thank a very specific branch of the military for the fact that our country has not yet been occupied and disappeared from the face of the Earth - namely, the Strategic Missile Forces. It is their presence and constant combat readiness that guarantees reliable protection of the Russian Federation from aggression by any of the world powers. Every day, thousands of military personnel - soldiers and officers - take up mandatory combat duty in missile silos and mobile complexes. It would be strange if such a power, capable of destroying all life on the planet, but standing exclusively guarding the world, would remain without its own memorable date.

Story

Today, the status of this memorable day is regulated in accordance with a presidential decree establishing a list of military holidays, issued in 2006. But the history of this date is much older. It was chosen for a very specific reason - precisely on December 17, but back in 1959, the Rocket Forces, which had a strategic purpose, were first created.

Over the past years, they have repeatedly:

  • reformed;
  • resubordinated;
  • merged with other branches of the military and separated with them.

However, the tasks facing the Strategic Missile Forces did not change.

The first holiday of the Strategic Missile Forces (not to be confused with the Day of Artillery and Missile Forces) was established in 1995 by presidential decree dated December 10th. And the Decree of 2006 canceled the previous one, downgrading the status of the holiday to an ordinary memorable date, since the Strategic Missile Forces turned out of armed forces to the branch of the army. However, such a decrease did not affect the scale of the celebration.

Traditions

  • those who sit at the launch consoles;
  • all military personnel ensuring the combat readiness of the Strategic Missile Forces;
  • civilian specialists;
  • support staff;
  • scientists from their own research institutes, available in the structure of the Strategic Missile Forces, higher educational institutions, factories that produce equipment for this type of troops, training grounds, etc.

This date is celebrated not only by those who served or are currently working in the Missile Forces, but also by civilian and military retirees who were involved in the Strategic Missile Forces in the past.

The scale of the event is evidenced by the fact of the annual reception in the Kremlin, organized on December 17. In all military units and institutions of the branch of the military, ceremonial formations and meetings are held, awards are presented and conferred next ranks. There are also traditions associated with the church - many divisional churches are given icons of St. Elijah of Muromets, who is the heavenly patron of the Strategic Missile Forces.

Until 1995, the day of the Strategic Missile Forces was celebrated on November 19 as the Day of Missile Forces and Artillery, which was established by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on November 17, 1964.

At the present stage of its development, the Strategic Missile Forces include three missile armies located in Vladimir, Omsk and Orenburg and including 12 missile divisions of constant readiness.
