TEXT OF THE REPORT AT THE FINAL PLENARY SESSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL SPIRITUAL AND EDUCATIONAL FORUM "GLIN READINGS" JULY 29, 2017

In one of his letters, answering the question of where it is best to make a pilgrimage, St. Theophan the Recluse remarked:

“One should not think that the Lord is closer to Kyiv or Moscow, Athos or Jerusalem, than to another place. His place is our heart! And when he enters and celebrates... behold Jerusalem, and more than Jerusalem. Let's cheer about this. The heart is in us, but there is a journey to the heart, and sometimes it is long, long. This journey is both more difficult and more valuable in the eyes of the Lord, and more fruitful.

These words of the saint have a special value for us teachers. children acting as drivers. We must first walk the path to our own heart, to know ourselves well, so as not to be in the role of blind leaders of the blind.

N.V. Maslov’s book “The Importance of Attention in Human Life” (M., 2017) can be compared with a guidebook, a practical guide that is necessary for everyone who is going to travel to unknown places. This book is a generalization and a modern pedagogical adaptation of the thousand-year experience of outstanding Orthodox thinkers, ascetics of piety in working on themselves, in self-education. None of the advice of the holy fathers is of an abstract nature; they themselves went the way that St. Theophan writes about. They learned everything from their own experience, discovered the main difficulties of this “route”, its most dangerous places and rapids, explored and described them in detail for us.

The holy fathers liked to repeat: “Theory is a court lady in a palace, and practice is a bear in a dense forest can break a backbone.”

To some extent, these words can be attributed to modern pedagogy and psychology, which are taught today in universities. An incredible number of intellectually sophisticated, beautiful theories and systems have been created, many textbooks and manuals rich in terms have been published. But practice breaks everything. This is evidenced by the current deplorable situation with the education of young people in schools and universities.

In this situation, the experience and advice of prominent thinkers and educators, with whom the new book by N.V. Maslova, can and should become a support for the development of methods, methods and techniques for educating pupils and students, taking into account the spiritual nature of a person, his need for "daily bread" - a constant connection with God.

This book significantly expands our pedagogical horizons, helps to take a fresh look at one of the key concepts that form the basis of pedagogical tools - attention.

It cannot be said that modern pedagogy and psychology do not investigate and methodically develop this concept. However, in general, these developments relate to the physiological basis of attention. I quote a textbook of pedagogy and psychology for universities: "The general state of attention, the stability of attention, are apparently associated with the work of the reticulation formation." Paying much attention to the development of physiological mechanisms of attention, teachers and psychologists completely ignore the spiritual side of this phenomenon. This applies not only to external, but also to internal attention.

Quoting the textbook General psychology» for university students educational institutions: “Internal, or intellectual attention is directed to the analysis of the activity of mental processes (perception, memory, imagination, thinking) and mental organs and experiences. It is clearly manifested, for example, in solving problems mentally, in remembering, thinking mentally.

As we can see, the concept of "internal attention" is characterized very vaguely and contradictory. On the one hand, it is identified with reflection, introspection, during which the quality of all mental processes occurring in us is determined, on the other hand, with our mental ability in general and even with the ability to remember.

The reason is in the materialistic view of the human personality. From this point of view, there is nothing inside a person and cannot be, that would not be conditioned by external material and social factors. The soul is understood not as an independently existing reality and integrity, but as a bundle of physiological functions. With this approach, in fact, there is no need for education, development of the soul. It all comes down to the problem of managing a person, according to the principle: “stimulus - reaction”. In this regard, let us recall K.D. Ushinsky: "Not a single materialistic theory can talk about the development (of a person), because when there is no soul with its own content, then there is nothing to develop."

The approach that is being developed in the book by N.V. Maslov, is not something new and unprecedented, in this case it is only restored in rights, the spiritual traditions of Russian education, rooted in the Russian people's consciousness, reflected in the Russian language, which have received the most complete and open embodiment in the pedagogical activities of monasteries, are brought to the consciousness of modern teachers - Glinskaya and Optina Hermitage, Russian theological schools and outstanding educators of the 19th century - Nikolai Semenovich Shishkov, Sergei Semenovich Uvarov, Sergei Alexander Rachinsky and others.

The essence of this approach can be briefly expressed in the words of Schema-Archimandrite John Maslov: "Arrange the internal and the external will be arranged."

“Internal” is the soul, which is thought and, most importantly, felt as a reality, as the greatest treasure, as something for which we are truly responsible.
For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mark 8:36-37).
Be careful! - this call of Schema-Archimandrite John Maslov, with which he constantly addressed his spiritual children, means, first of all, attention to the state of his soul, inner attention.

The presented book comprehensively reveals the meaning of inner attention, provides a selection of sayings of the holy fathers, which have exceptional value and depth and which can be considered as a pedagogical tool for organizing the work of educating attention.

St. Theophan the Recluse writes: “How expensive… to acquire the skill of attention! The main work of those who have begun to take care of the soul is usually directed towards this. And their business begins to look a little like business only as soon as attention begins to gather in itself; usually it is all outside, not inside. From the same moment, the inner life begins, and along with attention, it matures and grows stronger.
According to the holy fathers, constant attention to oneself, to the state of one’s soul, allows a person to truly freely manage himself and his affairs, to achieve success, not letting external circumstances and “internal movements of his nature” (St. Theophanes), i.e. passions that nestle in our hearts, to captivate and disperse us. At the same time, it is emphasized that in order to gain such attention, you need to make an effort, force yourself (“The Kingdom of Heaven is taken by force” - Matt. 11:12), and this effort is primarily associated with prayer, turning to God for help. Inner attention is a fertile gift that cannot be acquired by a person on his own - through various auto-training and meditation, fraught with the cultivation of pride and self-worship (it is to such trainings that all the recommendations of modern pedagogical psychology for working on oneself are reduced).

It is very important to understand that true attention and concentration cannot be acquired without repentance, without awareness of one's deep damage by sin, one's deadly position. Hence the prayer is born: "Save, Lord!"
“Attention is the cause of faith, hope, love. Attention is the suppression of thoughts, the temple of the memory of God, the treasury of patience, a sign of sincere repentance,” says the Monk Nicephorus the Recluse, a holy father who labored on Athos in the 13th century.

The thought of a deep inner connection between attention and repentance permeates the works of the great spiritual writer of the 19th century, St. Ignatius Brianchaninov: “Attention during prayer brings nerves and blood to calmness, helps the heart to sink into repentance and abide in it.” This statement of the saint indirectly points to the role played by attention, prayer and repentance fused together in the fight against passions - the main sources of disorder in our spiritual life, our sins and falls. This idea is developed in more detail Reverend John Kronstadtsky: “It is difficult to overcome the passions that have become, as it were, our natural members, but with unceasing attention to ourselves and with fervent unceasing prayer with abstinence, with the help of God it is possible to overcome and eradicate them”

The book "The Importance of Attention in Human Life" is small in volume, but it is distinguished by an extremely high semantic concentration. Each of her thesis, supported by the words of the holy fathers, can be the subject of many days of detailed study, reflection and reflection. In addition to those already considered, we will dwell on such important theses for us teachers as “Without attention it is impossible to keep the commandments of God” and “Attention enlightens, gives knowledge.” The commandments of God form the basis of the moral law, the mastery of which is vital for a person: if the violation of physical laws is fraught with bodily death for us (no one in their right mind will jump from the window of a high-rise building - the law of gravity!), then the violation of the moral law leads to spiritual death , the death of the soul, although for most this is not so obvious. Saint Ignatius Brianchaninov emphasizes: “The commandments of Christ are given not only outer man but, most of all, internal: they embrace all the thoughts and feelings of a person, all his subtlest movements. Keeping these commandments is impossible without deep attention.”

Thus, attention to the internal movements of our soul is a condition for observing the moral law, preventing violation of the commandments at the stage of the very birth of thoughts and feelings.

Attention is also called sobriety by the holy fathers, that is, power over passions. Attentive, vigilant will, observance of the moral law make the mind clear, enlighten and make it wiser.

In the event that a person's will is blinded by passions, he loses attention, the ability to think sensibly and make reasonable decisions. St. Theophan remarks: "Inattention comes from the disorder of the soul by sin," "from a person's loss of power over himself."

The root of distraction is the forgetfulness of God, the loss of the fear of God. Absent-mindedness, the enslavement of the soul by vanity, the unbridled desire for entertainment is born from unwillingness and fear to be alone with oneself, to peer into oneself. Deprived of entertainment, an absent-minded person falls into despondency, long-term grief destroys him, puts him on the verge of death of the soul.

The Holy Fathers call absent-mindedness a malignant disease. Plunging into vanity, worldly cares, a person clings to the earth, the very thought of God, of serving him becomes painful. An absent-minded person does not notice his distressful state, his petrified insensitivity, and easily becomes the prey of passions and enemy temptations.

In patristic pedagogy, an absent-minded person is likened to “a house without doors and locks: no treasure can be preserved in such a house; it is open for thiefs, robbers and harlots.”

The book “The Significance of Attention in Human Life” unfolds a deeply thought-out “technology” developed in detail on the basis of patristic pedagogy for eradicating absent-mindedness and teaching attention. At the same time, tips and recommendations for working on oneself are devoid of mentoring obsession, scientific dryness, registrar's clerical tone and semantic redundancy, which, unfortunately, distinguish almost all textbooks and manuals on educational psychology today.

The language of the book is polished and light, the images, with the help of which the most complex concepts and lofty revelations are brought to the reader's mind, amaze the imagination, immediately cut into the memory.

Such images, in particular, include the likening of the inner world of a person, his soul to a house, beloved by the holy fathers. Here is how, for example, the technique of self-deepening and examination of oneself, one’s soul by St. Theophan the Recluse is revealed: “Never stop the work of self-deepening [although at first, if you look inward, you will not be able to distinguish anything clearly because of the confusion of thoughts and feelings]. Be patient a little, and you will soon begin, little by little, to distinguish what is happening inside you, just as one who enters a dimly lit room from the courtyard, after standing for a while, begins to gradually distinguish the objects in it.
Schema-Archimandrite John Maslov uses the image of St. Theophan to illustrate the basic rule of perfection, which is directly related to attention. “If you want to be saved, go inside yourself, stand with attention at the entrance of the heart and destroy everything that is enemy, coming out and coming.”

The thoughts and statements of Father John Maslov about the attention in the book are given special place, their presentation is a whole chapter. And it is quite justified methodologically. It was Schema-Archimandrite John who was able to look at the teaching of the Holy Fathers on attention through the eyes of modern man, to state it in a language that is accessible to us. It is also important that the author of the book had the opportunity to communicate directly with this living bearer of the patristic tradition. Hence - a stunning sense of reality, co-presence. We become, as it were, direct participants, witnesses to the dialogue that Father John leads with his spiritual children.

"We need to start with today take a closer look at
treat yourself. Every day you need to ask yourself the following questions:
- How do I get to eternal life, with what?
What is my purpose here?
- And what did I buy today for this? What did you lose? Where I am?
And so every day to check yourself, especially before going to bed. If there is no such constant attention, self-control, a person will not be able to go to salvation, vanity will destroy him.

For all the seeming elementary nature of the elder's advice, behind them is a deep, systematic knowledge of Orthodox anthropology, the patristic teaching on inner man. On the basis of this teaching, the schiarchimandrite formulates a moral law that reveals the special importance of attention in people's lives. the heart is occupied so that it does not agree to sin.

About the consequences of inattention, Father John wrote: “A person, being inattentive to his spiritual life, omits sinful offenses and does not realize his distressful state.”

Father John gives a vivid and figurative description of the tactics of spiritual struggle, the purpose of which is to achieve attention through the acquisition of spiritual sobriety, through victory over passions: “The rule of spiritual struggle is to conquer every passion by the power of Christ immediately, as soon as it is born. We cannot heal, expel it completely right away, but we can always drive it “to the bottom”, so that passion dies there under the influence of the waters of grace, and our soul would always be peaceful, crystal, loving, benevolent, awake, spiritually sober.”

Passion is driven to the bottom of the soul with the help of intense prayer, turning to God for help. This is precisely the meaning of the words of the Savior, which Father John cites, speaking of the tactics of spiritual struggle: "The Kingdom of God is taken by force."

The book ends with a statement by Schema-Archimandrite John about the role of attention in the salvation of each person and the whole nation: “Attention is a priceless treasure! It is a persecutor of vanity, a weapon against the enemy of salvation, a guardian of the soul and body, a ladder that raises a person from earth to heaven, a source of enlightenment, light and grace; it sanctifies the people and saves every person!”

In this statement, which occupies strong position» book text (« End of business crown"), reflects the spiritual and state strategy of the founders and leaders of the Moscow Pedagogical Academy, the Fund of the Holy Right-Believing Prince Alexander Nevsky, the radio station "People's Radio", magazines, "Inok", "Shepherd", "Glinskaya Hermitage". The fruits of this strategy, this long-term activity aimed at the spiritual transformation of our people, our education system are evident. In 1990, when this activity was just beginning, it was impossible to think that Orthodox culture would be studied everywhere in schools and universities in Russia, that the revival of Orthodox traditions in domestic education would become a matter of concern for the leaders of the state, that we would stand on the verge of fundamental changes in the entire system and content of our school and university education on the basis of the federal target program on spiritual and moral culture being developed today for forty years - from 2020 to 2060.

Whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never be thirsty; but the water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water springing up into eternal life (John 4:14)

These words of the Savior directly refer to the elder John Maslov, to his spiritual children, the organizers of the Glinsky Readings forum, to all who embarked on this difficult path, fraught with great temptations, but full of bright joy and grace, the path of spiritual and moral education and education that “sanctifies the people and saves every person!”

The XXVII International Educational Forum "Glin Readings" was held at the Moscow Theological Academy from July 27 to 29. The readings were timed to coincide with the day of memory of the Elder of the Glinsk Hermitage, teacher, educator, Schema-Archimandrite John (Maslov) (01/06/1932 - 07/29/1991).

The purpose of the forum is to introduce moral foundations and traditional spiritual values in modern system education. The declared topics of the forum were spiritual and moral education in the family and educational institutions. In addition, issues of the moral potential of the Russian language, the importance of hagiographic and patristic literature in the spiritual and moral education of the younger generations were considered.

Glinsky readings are a high spiritual platform for professional self-education, growth and spiritual and moral training, first of all, of a teacher. The forum brings together teachers, scientists and heads of educational authorities in the field of spiritual, moral and patriotic education.

Schema-Archimandrite John (Maslov) was born on January 6, 1932, in the village of Potapovka, Sumy Region, into a pious peasant family. From the age of 12, Ivan began working on a collective farm. She pastured cows, plowed, sowed, mowed, collected plows, learned to make carts. I went to school 6 kilometers away to the village of Sopich. Thanks to his natural talent, Ivan studied very well. In 1951, Ivan was drafted into the army.

In 1954 he went to the Glinskaya Pustyn. At first, Ivan carried out general obediences in the monastery for several months, then he was given a cassock, and in 1955 he was enrolled in the monastery by decree. At that time, such great elders labored in the monastery as Schema-Archimandrite Andronik (Lukash), Schema-Archimandrite Seraphim (Amelin), Schema-Archimandrite Seraphim (Romantsov). The rector of the monastery soon blessed John to answer the numerous letters that came to the monastery from those who asked for advice, spiritual guidance and help.

So Ivan began his selfless service to God and neighbors, leading the most modest, strict and humble life. He carried the obedience of a clerk, worked in a carpentry workshop, made candles, then was the head of a pharmacy and at the same time a choir. On October 8, 1957, on the eve of the celebration of the death of the holy apostle and evangelist John the Theologian, the young novice was tonsured a monk with the name John in honor of the holy apostle.

In 1961, after the closing of the monastery, Father John, with the blessing of Elder Andronicus, entered the Moscow Theological Seminary. In 1962, he was ordained at the Patriarchal Epiphany Cathedral to the rank of hierodeacon, and on March 31, 1963, to the rank of hieromonk. After graduating from the seminary, he continued his studies at the Theological Academy. Even during the years of study at the academy, he, a student, was entrusted with the spiritual guidance of teachers and students, in addition, he confessed pilgrims. It was here that the abilities and pastoral gifts of Father John were fully revealed, who from the first days showed himself to be an experienced confessor.

In 1969, Father John graduated from the Moscow Theological Academy with a degree in theology, conferred on him for his essay "The Optina Elder Hieroschemamonk Ambrose (Grenkov) and His Epistolary Legacy." Father John was left as a professorial fellow at Moscow theological schools, taught pastoral theology and practical guide for shepherds. Since 1974, he began teaching liturgy at the seminary.

Since 1974, more than a hundred works by Father John have been published in various publications. The crowning achievement of his scientific and theological activity at the Moscow Theological Schools is his master's thesis "St. Tikhon of Zadonsk and his doctrine of salvation", which he defended on March 11, 1983, receiving the title of Master of Theology. In 1991, Father John completed a unique work - his doctoral dissertation “Glinskaya Pustyn. The history of the monastery and its spiritual and educational activities in the XVI-XX centuries.

In 1991, Father John completed the Glinsky Paterik, which included 140 biographies of the Glinsky ascetics. Thanks to his theological works, Father John is known not only as an elder confessor, but also as a spiritual enlightener.

In 1985, the master of theology was sent from the Trinity-Sergius Lavra as a confessor to the Zhirovitsky Assumption Monastery. He did not have to work long in the new field of pastoral work. In June 1990, he came on vacation to Sergiev Posad, and in August, before the next departure to Belarus, an illness finally bedridden him. Suffering either intensified, reaching critical states, then weakened. Schema-Archimandrite John did not stop accepting spiritual children, even if after another conversation he lost consciousness.

On Monday, July 29, 1991, at 9:00 am, Elder John received communion. At 9:30 a.m., the elder peacefully went to the Lord in full consciousness.

On the morning of July 31, a funeral liturgy was performed by the cathedral of clergy, led by the abbot of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Archimandrite Eleutherius (Didenko). At 12 noon, the coffin was carried to the square in front of the Trinity Cathedral, where, with a gathering of pilgrims, a litia was served, Father John was buried at the Old Cemetery in Sergiev Posad.

In order to implement the "Strategy for the development of education in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2025"XXVIInternational Educational Forum "Glinsky Readings" on the territory of the Holy Trinity-Sergius Lavra in the Moscow Theological Academy (Sergiev Posad). His work took place in the days of memory of the Orthodox teacher and theologian Schema-Archimandrite John (Maslov) from July 27 to 29, 2017 with the participation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Forum participants came from all over Russia and neighboring countries. They were educators of all levels, health care, the media, cultural figures, the military department, representatives of the clergy, museum and library workers, in a word, everyone who is not indifferent to the upbringing of children and youth - the future of our country.

Forum topic - "Spiritual and moral foundations of education and upbringing".

The purpose of the forum is the introduction of moral foundations and traditional spiritual values into the modern education system.

Information sheet: The readings are calledGlinskaya Hermitage, which occupied a special place in a number of Orthodox monasteries and was the center of spiritual enlightenment in Russia. Glinskaya desertwidely known not only throughout Russia, but also far beyond its borders, for its patriotic, spiritual and educational, pedagogical, medical, agronomic, publishing, missionary activities. The last old manwho went through the school of monasticism in the Glinsk HermitageSchema-Archimandrite John (Maslov). He is an outstanding teacher, theologian and pastor of the 20th century, who left a great pedagogical and theological legacy.

Our boarding school "Ascension" for children with disabilities musculoskeletal system This is not the first time he has taken part in this forum. I have been participating in the work of the Glinsky Readings since 2005. Two years earlier, we started to develop an elective course (based on Orthodox culture) for children with handicapped health. At first, only for girls "Household", they began to publish the eponymous school newspaper With Orthodox calendar and in general spiritual and moral content.

In the work of Hieromonk Porfiry Levashov “On the upbringing of girls in a truly Christian spirit” it is said: “... mentors and parents must themselves be deeply imbued with the spirit of faith and piety and have high morals. Without this, and with the best textbooks or rules, the direct goal of Christian education cannot be achieved. There were cases when people who were alien to faith and morality came out of the first hotbeds of public education, and this happened because they had the misfortune to fall under the influence of such minds that did not combine inner conviction in them with knowledge of religious truths. We got a time when there was no elementary knowledge of religious truths. There were no textbooks. It is good that the ban on religion began to be lifted in general (at that time it was still far from everywhere), that the pedagogical forum “Glinskie readings” began to work. The first books with the stamp "Recommended by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation" began to appear. One of them was the "Symphony by the creation of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk", written by Schema-Archimandrite John (Maslov). "Symphony" and other books were awarded for participation in the All-Russian competition of creative works of teachers "Duty of Service to the Fatherland". This is how the acquaintance with the heritage of the Glinsk Elders took place. Without wise guidance, in which a simple teacher would never be able to navigate due to its inaccessibility, volume and lack of time to study it. Previously, when preparing for classes, there was a great desire to rely on folk wisdom. So the epigraphs of classes, developments were proverbs from the book of V.I. Dahl "Proverbs of the Russian people", 1957 edition. Later, for classes, she began to use concepts from the books “Symphony by the Creations of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk” by Schema-Archimandrite Ion (Maslov), “Explanatory Pedagogical Dictionary” by Dr. pedagogical sciences Maslova N.V. (who, in addition to his direct meaning, as a dictionary, is also a guide to the Glin heritage).

For example, the theme of conscience. V. I. Dal says: “Conscience is without teeth, but it will bite”, “It is good to live with his conscience, but it is bad to die.”

And in the "Symphony" by Schema-Archimandrite John Maslov: "Conscience is the voice of God."

Another important topic is about foul language. Here I took

- quotes from the Bible:

“The blow of the whip makes scars, and the blow of the tongue crushes the bones; many fell by the edge of the sword, but not so much as those who fell by the tongue.(Sirach 28.20.21),

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” (Proverbs 18:22),

"Whoever keeps his mouth keeps his soul." (Prov. 18:22),

"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but an insulting word excites wrath." (Prov. 15.1),

- proverbs from the book V. I. Dahl. The most beloved: “Small tongue - shakes mountains”, “Tongue - anchor for the body”, “You can’t get away from the tongue. The tongue will reach everywhere”, “The word is not an arrow, but the heart stings”.

-sayings of saints and modern theologians:

“It is known that doctors find out whether a person is healthy or sick by examining the tongue, we can say that our words serve sure sign good or bad dispositions of our souls” (St. Tikhon of Zadonsk).

“Temperance of the tongue shows a wise man” (Rev. Abba Isaiah).

“The word is the visible manifestation of the mind” (Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Doctor of Theology N. V. Maslov). - in "Symphony" by Schema-Archimandrite John Maslov:“Be careful not to use the tongue as a sin”, “The enemy uses our tongue against us”, “Language is the cause of wars and bloodshed”. At the end of the two lessons on language, we must determine: “Is my language friend or foe?!” The epigraph of the lesson for the new holiday, National Unity Day, was the words: “If the flame of patriotism burns brightly in the soul and heart of a Christian, he himself will find ways to manifest his love for the Fatherland” (N.V. Maslov). A fragment of the lesson for analysis and discussion was taken from the reasoning from the "Symphony" Schema-Archimandrite John (Maslov): “Freedom is dearer than anything in the world ... All freedom is revered more than any treasure of this world. Neither wealth, nor honor, nor sweet food is pleasant to us, as we have no freedom. Birds and other dumb birds prefer to be free rather than in captivity and eat prepared food. Everyone has a natural desire and love for freedom. Why is no one more comforted by anything than by freedom. The same was also discussed at the lesson about the Holy Right-Believing Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky. Modern children do not know the meaning of such words as mercy, grace, complacency, chastity, meekness, and many others. They do not know the true meaning of the word love. But in order to begin acquaintance with all these concepts, the teacher himself must be guided in this. It is very important for any teacher to determine the purpose and objectives of his activity. The goal of a teacher based on Orthodoxy is much broader and deeper than other subjects. It is necessary not only to supplement the knowledge of the child with subject concepts, to connect with historical events, it is necessary to give him moral guidelines. It is necessary to show pupils that spiritual and moral laws act just as objectively as material and physical ones (for example, the law gravity), act regardless of whether the person knows about them or not. These laws have long been formulated and described.

In the book, Ph.D. N.V. Maslov "Fundamentals of Russian Pedagogy" - the encyclopedia of the Russian teacher - the goal of education is defined as the disclosure to the pupil of the purpose and meaning of life. Many adults to this day cannot intelligibly answer about the meaning of life. Children think that this is: study, good work, good car, comfortable apartment, entertainment, family…. In addition to the goal set, the book also defines ways to achieve it, based on the nature of man and the experience of the Christian heritage.

Work "Spiritual and moral foundations of education and upbringing" d.p.s. N.V. Maslova - an encyclopedia of survival in modern world, far from Christianity, a modern person who still wants to become a Christian. In separately published books “Family. Strength, Purpose and Purpose” and “Reader on the Spiritual and Moral Education of Children and Youth”, the materials of which are in the above-mentioned work, beautiful illustrations are selected, which are also the property of Russian culture based on Orthodoxy. After all, most of our compatriots simply do not know about them. Only in the classroom can children see not only holy faces, but also just pious faces. From modern media, we are used to seeing glamorous faces, on which the imprints of various vices are often obvious. The literary selection of the anthology - excellent descriptions of the pious life of our ancestors - is an example to follow. In addition, excellent Russian. All this is a product for the mental activity of a person, food for the soul, exhausted by the pressure of the negative.

This year, the Glin Readings forum discussed the importance of thoughts, attention, observation and imagination in human life. Modern man is used to paying attention only to the visible world. Therefore, most of us do not even pay attention, for example, to our thoughts. But our predecessor teachers said that according to the type of seed nourished by the earth, there is a plant and a fruit; according to the form of thoughts nourished by the heart, there are life and deeds. In addition, the attention of a modern person also cannot focus on something specific for a long time, which gives superficial concepts about everything. Attention is the guardian of the mind, which must allow some thoughts or vice versa immediately cut them off. In contrast to attention, distraction of the mind requires constant entertainment. Ultimately, a person loses the purpose and meaning of life.

The activity of human cognitive forces is largely based on information about the surrounding world and inner world person who are collected through observation. Therefore, the ability to observe, and at the same time observe correctly, is very important for a person. Then everything that a person observed (saw and felt with other senses) remains in his memory and can be recreated by imagination. That is, the images of observed objects form a person. From all this it follows how important it is for parents and teachers to monitor what impressions the memory and imagination of the child feeds on. It is very important that now it is necessary to speak about family dispensation and family values not only to pupils, but also to their parents. Many of our children are raised by grandmothers or state institutions, and parents wander around the world in search of happiness (even in places of isolation from society). But if children are given moral guidelines in time, they may not repeat the fate of their unfortunate parents. For example, graduate girls from among the orphans (pupils of the elective "Home Hearth"), once abandoned by antisocial parents, now have two or three children, do not leave them, but take care of them. The girl, whose mother, wandering around the dachas, got frostbite, left without fingers and toes, did not leave her then, now she took her to her and also takes care of her and her children. It should also be noted that the monastic way of life, which we get acquainted with in the course of studying the Glinsky heritage, can become a model for a boarding school, since, despite the status of a secular institution, much in common remains:

  • unity of command;
  • Charter;
  • mentoring;
  • Obedience;
  • Community organization of life: regimen, common meal, common and individual work;
  • Educational activities:
- we continue to work in the All-Russian Internet project on the portal of the school press. Proceedings of the Moscow Pedagogical Academy and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Doctor of Theology, Professor of MDA N.V. Maslov, materials of the forums “Glinsky readings are used primarily for their own education, as well as in work with wards and colleagues. These are conversations cool watch, creative work, parent meetings, reports, publications.

In working with wards, the following trends can be traced:

Children become more restrained, less aggressive, responsibility increases, compassion develops.

The level of general culture and literacy is increasing.

The culture of communication is increasing, the volume of using profanity is decreasing (with me there is none at all).

There is an increased interest in spiritual knowledge, a desire to participate in the creation of various creative works, Olympiads in the defense industry.

Children were repeated winners in various competitions (spiritual and moral direction) of all levels, including international ones.

The Glin Readings Forum is one of the pure springs of Orthodoxy. In all her writings, the Moscow Pedagogical Academy and d.p.n. N.V. Maslov did not deviate from the Truth, because all their activities are based on the works of the holy fathers. They took upon themselves, according to Archbishop John Shakhovsky, the activity of teachers who will speak the same Truth of the word of God, but in a form that is most understandable for the proper era, this society and the people.

Our participation in the Glinsky Readings forum all these years has become possible with the great interest and support of the directorGKOU RO Volgodonsk special boarding school "Ascent" T.Ya. Belousova, manager the highest category, Honorary Worker general education Russian Federation, which has government awards, incl. Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" II degree.

Man, like a white bird, is carried through this life by two strong wings - faith and love. They help us understand the happiness of our being and experience betrayal and loss.
Life is complex and multifaceted. I ask you not to allow anything in correspondence and polemics that can offend the personal dignity and freedom of religion of another person.
On these pages I am Rodnik. Outside the virtual world, my name is Tatyana. I am a village teacher. I teach at the school of the glorious village of Monastyrshchino, Kimovsky district Tula region, historically associated with the Battle of Kulikovo. I'm 45 years old. Born in Medynsky district Kaluga region. I grew up in a wonderful, small, quiet village of Mikhalchukovo. My dear parents were Valentin Dmitrievich and Raisa Mikhailovna. She studied at the famous Myatlevskaya high school, which long years headed by a talented teacher and leader Alexander Fedorovich Ivanov. But, born in Kaluga, by vocation I happened to become a Tula. I studied at the Tula State pedagogical institute at the Faculty of Philology. And once again in it, after 20 years and in absentia, it was already called a university, and I chose a faculty that was completely opposite in profile - natural science.
My husband and three children are with me.
I love my work, children, nature, I think a lot about the geological system of the territory of the Tula region, I love the history of the Tula region. I dedicate a section on the site called "School Waltz" to pedagogy. Very often, the children I teach help me fill out the pages of the site or inspire me to create them.
My life has not been without troubles and mistakes. I don't keep stones in my bosom. Life motto: "Happiness is to live in this world." If you know why you live. I live near the village of Sebino, Kimovsky District, Tula Region, where the Holy Blessed and Righteous Matrona was born, baptized and lived for some time, whom the people call Mother Matrona or Matronushka for her help. The temple of the village of Sebino is very dear to us: mother Matrona prayed to God here, our children were baptized here and my husband and I were married. I write about this village on the website in articles and section "Sebino"(cm. site menu), and on this topic I receive basic information from readers in the form of letters and calls.
Questions of faith and religion are quite complex and are a personal matter of a person, so everything I write about has some value only from the point of view of history and geography. As educational and informative things. I have no theological education, I was only a student of short pedagogical courses on spiritual and moral education and several times participated in the Glinsky pedagogical readings in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. Therefore, I do not give advice, I have no right to do so.
My personal attitude to Orthodoxy - I believe unconditionally. Without fanaticism and exaltation.
I have a rule on the site: I do not name names and nothing else, unless there is a special consent of the person who wrote the letter to me, only names and excerpts from letters.
The village where I live is called Sukhanovo. He has his own story.
Mail [email protected] Write. My project is not commercial in any way. I do not collect donations, you can make them yourself when you come to Sebino. I just write about what surrounds me.
I wish you all happiness and I look forward to seeing you on the site.
