How to instill a love of reading in your child

Conversation Plan

Choosing a book to read.

How to look at illustrations in a book.

Talk to children about what they have read.

Reading hygiene.

All parents know about the benefits of reading, so their anxiety is quite natural and legitimate if the child does not like books. What needs to be done to make a child love reading? they often ask, "We buy a lot of books, but my son doesn't even look at them."

Of course, those parents who believe that it is worth buying a book, how the child will immediately like it, are mistaken. On the part of parents, great attention is required to the reading of the younger student, help and guidance in his reading. Children should be taught to love books.

But they cannot choose the book themselves. Therefore, it is very important that adults monitor the selection of books for children's reading.

For everybody childhood exist recommendation lists Literature ""What to read to children"". They are available in every school and district library. These lists, compiled taking into account the age of children, include works of fiction and popular science literature, books of classics and contemporary writers, Russian and foreign literature, poetry and prose.

Parents should ensure that books appropriate for their age fall into the hands of children.

Watching the reading of children, it is necessary to strive to ensure that the books are of a variety of topics: fairy tales, stories about animals and plants, adventures, stories about war and heroes, about the peaceful work of adults and children, about school, about music, art.

When choosing books, it is necessary to take into account the individual interests of children. Guys, especially boys, are often only interested in adventure literature. This craving for adventure, a sharp, exciting plot is quite natural, but you need to direct it in the right direction. It is necessary to see to it that books of the adventure genre are not the only ones in the reading of children, that books intended for adults do not fall into their hands.

If a child is especially interested in the life of plants or animals, new cars, travel, you should pick up books from which he could get new and interesting information for him.

Particular attention should be paid to the development of children's interest in popular science literature. Students should read books available to them in geography, natural science, and technology.

Parents should help the child develop the technique of reading, for this it is necessary to exercise him in reading aloud so that adults can control the correctness of reading. Therefore, parents should be especially attentive to the selection of the first books for independent reading. Books should be with bright pictures, with an interesting plot and small in size so that the child can quickly read them.

In fostering a love of books in younger children school age can play a positive role and seemingly insignificant external moments. So, for example, your own library, a shelf for books, the ability to exchange books with friends - all this makes children interested in the book.

In order to teach children to read independently, you can use the following technique. One of the adults begins to read to the child, but stops reading aloud at the most interesting place. Carried away by the events of the book and the desire to find out what will happen to the characters of the book next, the child in most cases continues to read independently. Adults should then ask him what he read about, praise him for his independence, express the hope that now he will always read himself.

The development of a love for a book is much faster and easier in those families where adults themselves love to read, talk a lot about books, and devote their leisure time to reading. If the father and mother do not find time to read books, then, of course, it is more difficult to get the child to read.

Parents should very patiently, but steadily demand from the children which books of this writer he has already read and what he knows about him, whether he has already met the drawings of the book illustrator.

It is necessary that the child read the book carefully, without rushing.

Great for primary school children educational value has preview illustrations. They help the child understand and remember what they read. Many pictures make it possible to imagine those phenomena and objects that the child cannot see directly.

Looking at the pictures, you can visit the north and tropical countries: living far from the sea, see steamships and the raging ocean, find out how children live in other countries.

It is important to teach children to look at drawings in a book, to notice interesting details.

It is very good when children talk about what they have read. Telling, the child develops his speech, he develops the ability to highlight the main thing in the book. In the course of the story, the attitude to the actions of the characters, to the events described, is more clearly formed. If a child finds it difficult at first to talk about what he has read, you need to help him with the help of questions: what did you learn from the book? When and where was it? What did you like the most?

Questions about what has been read are also important because parents can control the reading of the child: whether he read the whole book, whether he understood everything in it, whether his opinion about the behavior of the characters is correct. Such questions discipline children, allow them to read more carefully and remember what they read. It is necessary to encourage the desire of children to draw a picture for themselves to read.

It is very good if the family practices joint reading of books aloud. This brings children and parents together, helps parents get to know the children better, understand their hobbies and interests.

First of all, an interesting and entertaining book is chosen so that the children are happy to wait for the evening when everyone sits down together and reads. Reading aloud should take turns, today the father reads, tomorrow the son, etc. Reading aloud is a useful training for children: they get used to reading expressively, loudly and clearly.

It is necessary to determine the duration of reading no more than 45 minutes so that reading does not tire the children, does not dull interest in the book.

It is good when parents and children share their impressions about the book. If a dispute arises, if the children express the wrong opinion, it is necessary in a tactful way to help them understand what they have read.

A culture of handling a book is brought up in the family. First, we must teach children to take care of the book. Children should know that the book should not be thrown, torn, drawn on it, the corners of the pages bent, pictures cut out of it. Particular care must be taken with library books. It must be wrapped in clean paper and, after reading, handed over exactly on time.

It is also necessary to teach children to observe the basic rules of reading hygiene. Children need to know that their eyes must be protected. Can't read in low light. The lamp should be on the side of the left hand of the child, the light from it should not fall into the eyes, but fall only on the surface of the table where the book lies. When reading, give short rest eyes.

Reminder for parents

1. Instill in your child an interest in reading from an early age.

2. Buy books, choose books that are bright in design and interesting in content.

3. Read systematically to your child. This will form the habit of daily communication with the book.

4. Discuss the book you have read among your family members.

6. If you are reading a book to your child, try to stop reading at the most interesting place.

7. Remembering with the child the content of the previously read, intentionally distort it to check how he remembered the previously read text.

share your childhood impressions of reading a particular book, compare yours and his impressions.

9. Arrange at home discussions about the books you read.

10. Buy, if possible, books of authors that your child likes, arrange his personal library.

11. Nurture careful attitude to the book, demonstrating the relics of his family.

12. Give your child good books with a dedication, good and warm wishes.

Years later, this will become a happy reminder of your home, its traditions, dear and close people.

Role technical means in a person's life increases from year to year. A computer, TV, gadgets, tablets - this is what now replaces everything for a child: communication, learning, development. Communicating with the "iron" the child himself becomes half a robot. The ability to follow commands without thinking becomes all-encompassing. If earlier parents rejoiced at such successes of their children, now they are seriously sounding the alarm.

More and more often the topic of children's reading becomes an object of discussion. But in order for reading to become both learning and development, you need to instill in your child a love of reading, develop cognitive interest to reading. Of course, it is necessary to educate a reading child from early childhood. Parents usually read the first bright, colored books to their children aloud. And are there any children who do not like this reading?

But already at 7-8 years old, this process starts to take its course. It is believed that a child has learned to read, which means he can handle it himself. This is the biggest misconception of parents. Of course, there are exceptions when a “perpetual reader” grows out of a small reader. But this is too small a percentage to talk about it as a trend. Parents who have been with the child from the first days of his life should take on the role of reading guide.

How to instill a love of reading

Show children that parents love to read and enjoy it. Let children see that reading for parents is not hard work, but a favorite pastime.

Treat the book as a priceless gift. Give books to your loved ones, receive books as a gift. Let the children see that for adults, a new book is more important than a donated blouse or sweater.

Teach children to go to bookstores and libraries. Allow yourself to choose the literature you like, both in online bookstores like https://filin-book.ru/, and in stores near your home. Teach them how to talk to a librarian or salesperson in order to formulate their request correctly.

Come up with a way to reward your child good reading(by no means material). For example, for each book you read, you can collect walnuts, postcards, buttons. Allow your child to brag about their accomplishments.

Find a reading corner at home. Come up with a name for this corner, for example, "Thinker's Corner", "Smart Corner" and so on to your taste. In a dedicated corner, hang a list of books that the child would like to read.

The family must have a library. It is necessary to collect books on topics that the child likes. For example, fantasy, adventure, fairy tales.

Encourage the child's friendship with peers who read books, invite them to visit, discuss books read.

To be interested in the opinion of children about the books they read, to argue with them, to teach them to use passages and statements from books as arguments in a dispute.

If parents really want to raise their child to be a real reader, they need to know what never to do when involving a child in reading.

It is forbidden:

  • Reprimand the child for bad reading, especially if it is technical, unconscious reading.
  • Do not force or persuade the child to read another page. Intuitively, he will begin to resist, and this feeling of rejection of the book may remain for a long time.
  • Do not interrupt the child if there are errors in reading, try to do it imperceptibly and not rudely, otherwise the child will become afraid of reading aloud.

Based on their own conditions and the system of raising children, each parent can come up with many methods for instilling a love of reading. This work is everyday and should bring pleasure to parents. AT modern conditions ever-changing education, good reading will only benefit the child. By making reading a favorite activity for their child, parents can avoid many problems in his upbringing.

CONVERSATION

WITH PARENTS ON THE TOPIC

How to instill a love of reading in your child

Sample conversation plan

  1. Choosing a book to read.
  2. What to do if the child does not like to read.
  3. How to look at illustrations in a book.
  4. Conversations with children about reading.
  5. Reading hygiene.

In the conversation, the teacher emphasizes the importance for successful learning child in all subjects of his ability to read, interest in the book. Sometimes a child finds it difficult to solve a problem just because he does not know how to read it correctly. Literate writing is also associated with reading skills.

In the first grade, students begin to read on their own, they are allowed to take books from school library. Many children have their own home library. Children tell each other about the books they read. They want to be like their favorite literary characters.

All parents know about the benefits of reading, so their anxiety is quite natural and legitimate if the child does not like books. What needs to be done to make a child love reading? they often ask. “We buy a lot of books, but my son doesn’t even look at them.”

Of course, those parents who believe that one has only to buy a book, as the child will immediately like it, are mistaken. On the part of parents, great attention is required to the reading of the younger student, help and guidance in his reading. Children should be taught to love books.

Most of the younger students love to read. But they can't choose a book themselves. Therefore, it is very important that adults monitor the selection of books for children to read. Some parents mistakenly believe that any reading is useful, while others think that the reading of children should be supervised by a teacher and a librarian and the role of parents in this matter is small. Indeed, both the teacher and the librarian monitor the reading of children, but they are not always able to protect students from books that are not intended for them. Only the joint efforts of librarians, teachers and parents can influence proper development children's reading.

For each child's age, there are recommended lists of literature "What to read to children." They are available in every school and district library. These lists, compiled taking into account the age of children, include works of fiction and popular science literature, books by classics and contemporary writers, Russian and foreign literature, poetry and prose.

Parents should ensure that books appropriate for their age fall into the hands of children. Therefore, it is advisable to adhere to the recommendations given in the reading lists. In vain, some parents are proud that their children enjoy reading books for adults. This is often harmful because junior schoolchildren cannot fully understand and realize the full depth of the work. They perceive it superficially, follow mainly the development of the plot and capture only the main content of the book. Such reading develops a bad habit of reading superficially, skipping the description of nature, the characteristics of the characters, the reasoning of the author.

Watching the reading of children, one must definitely strive to ensure that the books are of a variety of topics: fairy tales, stories about animals and plants, adventures, stories about the war, about the peaceful work of adults and children, about school, about music, art.

When choosing books, it is necessary to take into account the individual interests of children. Guys, especially boys, are often only interested in adventure literature. This craving for adventure, sharp, exciting stories is quite natural, but you need to direct it in the right direction.

Grade 4 students should read available books on geography, science, technology.

Parents should help their child develop reading skills. To do this, it is necessary to exercise him more often in reading aloud so that adults can control the correctness of reading.

Sometimes children do not like to read because their first independent books were boring, they did not hurt either the thoughts or feelings of the child, they passed by his consciousness. Therefore, parents should be especially attentive to the selection of the first books for independent reading. Books should be with bright pictures, with an interesting plot and small in size so that the child can quickly read them. If parents find it difficult to choose a book, do not know which book to buy, they should consult with a teacher or librarian.

In the education of love for the book in children of school age, external moments that are insignificant at first glance can play a positive role. So, for example, your own library, a shelf for books, the ability to exchange books with friends - all this makes children interested in the book.

In order to teach children to read independently, you can use the following technique. One of the adults begins to read to the child, but stops reading aloud at the most interesting place. Carried away by the events in the book and the desire to find out what will happen next with the characters, the child in most cases continues to read independently. Adults should then ask him what he read about, praise him for his independence, express the hope that now he will always read on his own.

The next book can be read in the same way. Gradually, the child acquires a taste for independent reading. You can tell your child at least one, but the most entertaining episode from any book. The younger student will definitely ask: “What next? Tell me what happened next?" In response, you need to give a book: “Here, read it. You will learn a lot of very interesting things here.”

The upbringing of a love for a book is much faster and easier in those families where adults themselves love to read, talk a lot about books, and devote their leisure time to reading. If the father and mother do not find time for reading or there are no books in the house, then, of course, it can be more difficult to get the children to read.

The teacher tells the parents how the child should read the book. We need to teach children to start reading from the cover and title page books that contain the name of the mother, the artist who made the drawings for the book, the publisher and the year of publication. Children, as a rule, do not pay attention and do not try to remember these data about the book. "I forgot who wrote the book." “Why remember who wrote the book, because I remember what it is written about.” “I confuse all the writers and I just can’t remember who wrote which books.” - You can often hear from children.

Parents should very patiently, but steadily demand from the children that they memorize the names of the author and artist and the title of the book. It is useful to ask the child before reading what books of this writer he has already read and what he knows about him, whether he has already met the drawings of the artist-illustrator of the book somewhere.

It is necessary that the child read the book carefully, without rushing. Often younger students, after reading five or six pages, look at last page- how did it end? After reading the end of the book and learning the fate of the characters, the children naturally continue to read less attentively, skip entire sections or chapters of the book, and sometimes just leave it. Parents should be careful to ensure that their children do not develop such bad habit. Children should not be told in advance how the events in the book develop, how they end.

For children of primary school age, looking at the illustrations in the book is of great educational importance. They help the child understand and remember what they read. Many pictures make it possible to imagine those phenomena and objects that the child cannot see directly. Looking at the pictures, you can visit the north and tropical countries; living far from the sea, to see steamships and the raging ocean, to learn how children live in other states.

It is important to teach children to look at the drawings in the book, noticing interesting details. Often children, although they look at the pictures, do not see everything in them. That's why great importance have questions from parents aimed at ensuring that the child carefully considers the depicted. What is in this picture? What are the names of those depicted on it actors? What are they doing? Are they doing well? What do their faces express?

It is very good when children talk about what they have read. Telling, the child develops his speech, he develops the ability to highlight the main thing in the book. In the course of the story, the attitude to the actions of the characters, to the events described, is more clearly formulated.

If a child finds it difficult at first to talk about what he has read, you need to help him with the help of questions: what did you learn from the book? When and where was it? What did you like the most?

Questions about what has been read are also important because parents can control the reading of the child: whether he read the whole book, whether he understood everything about it, whether his opinion about the behavior of the characters is correct. Usually in libraries, children are asked such questions: it disciplines them very much, makes them read more carefully and remember what they read.

It is very good if the family practices joint reading aloud. This brings parents and children closer together, helps parents get to know the children better, understand their hobbies and interests.

First of all, you need to choose an interesting and entertaining book so that the children are happy to wait for the evening when everyone sits down together and reads. "From time immemorial, a book raises a person."

"He who reads a lot knows a lot."

1. Introductory speech of the teacher.

Hello dear parents! Today we will talk with you about reading, about children's reading. All children have already learned to read. You can breathe a sigh of relief, a great job has been done. But right now, the most important thing in the learning process begins.

“To accustom a child to a reasonable conversation with a book and to make him accustomed to such a conversation is, in our opinion, one of the important tasks schools,” said K. D. Ushinsky.I completely agree with this great teacher. Our the main task- the formation of a reader, a student capable of creative activity with advanced reading and speaking skills.

Our lessons are lessons in the development and formation of correct, fluent, expressive reading, the formation of independence of thinking, one's own opinion and attitude to what is read.

But, a number of parents are worried that children, being able to read, do not want to do this. What to do in this case? How to captivate a child with a book? How to help him become a full-fledged reader? Let's talk about these issues.

2. The role of the book in human life.

AT modern society the role of TV, computer and other technical means in the life of parents and their children is growing. In this regard, the role of reading in the family is belittled. A book for a child is a source of knowledge, development, knowledge of the world. In this regard, it occupies an important place in human life. Teacher primary school understands how important it is to instill in a child a love of reading from childhood, to develop an interest in a book.

great place in the upbringing of children in the family takes reading. It develops the views, worldview, culture, inner world person. A. M. Gorky called the book one of the miracles created by mankind on the way to happiness and power. It broadens one's horizons, teaches one to love one's homeland, helps to educate a person, teaches one to evaluate actions, to understand life.

A smart book can have a much stronger impact on a child than a conversation or story of an adult. While reading, the child is left alone with himself. What he reads is deeply experienced by him. He can return to his favorite episode, the hero he liked. A good book is both an educator, and a teacher, and a friend. No wonder at all times great people called for reading. A.P. Chekhov said: “In order to educate, you need uninterrupted day and night work and eternal reading.” The topic of reading is always relevant, but why?

Reading helps the child to easily absorb the material and study well.

Develops speech, memory, thinking, logic.

Learn to see the good and the bad. Prepares the child for life in modern society.

3. Analysis of questionnaires for children.

On the eve of this meeting, I conducted a survey of children and parents on reading problems. And here are the results - (Appendix to a conversation with parents p. 2-3). Tables from the application are displayed on the interactive whiteboard.

Thus, we see that only 40% of the children in our class have a positive attitude towards reading. And 60% of students do not want to read, do not like to do it.

4. Analysis of questionnaires for parents.

Now let's turn our attention to the results of the parent survey - (Appendix to the conversation with parents p.1-2). Table on the board. Thus, 100% of parents believe that it is possible to captivate a child with reading only by their own example.

5. The point of view of modern psychologists.

Let's try to understand the reasons for the rejection of the book from the point of view of modern psychologists. One of the main reasons, as sad as it sounds, is a family reason.

An elderly, intelligent-looking mother complains that her eleven-year-old Alyosha does not like to read: “You can’t sit down for a book! Only if I promise to flog, I will read a couple of pages somehow, ”she says. And to the question of whether the son often sees his parents with a book in his hands, he answers: “Well, when should I read? I have two jobs, laundry, I have to cook dinner, check his lessons ... "

In the absence of a reading model, that is loved one fascinated by reading, the child almost never picks up a book himself. He must feel that the life of his parents is unthinkable without books - then they will enter his life. And if in the evening, usually before going to bed, mom sits down for half an hour, even if with love story in her hands, her son will gradually also get used to amusing himself with something bookish for the coming sleep.

When discussing school affairs with a child, one can always find some parallel in literature. “In my opinion, your classmate behaved unworthily, like some kind of Bad Boy.” Constantly referring to book examples, we stimulate the process of reading. The child gets used to looking for answers to his questions from great writers, on the pages of books, and they won’t teach something bad, they won’t deceive, they won’t succumb to a momentary mood.

The child in whose family there are no books at all will never read. And now, despite the abundance of printed materials, there are a lot of such families. The practice of using public libraries is a thing of the past, but teachers are increasingly being heard as main reason an unprepared assignment in the literature of the word: "I did not find this book." Books that are passed down from generation to generation, colorfully designed folios, complete collected works are a rarity at the present time. As well as a book as a "best gift".A parent who does not enjoy a book himself will never teach this joy to a child!

Unfortunately, in our time, the tradition of family evening reading has almost disappeared. Haven't TV and the busyness of parents working 20 hours a day played a fatal role here? Probably, there are also objective reasons explaining this phenomenon. But still the main factor, as always, is the human factor. Once upon a time, we taught our kids to use a spoon, go to the potty, and brush their teeth. And they found time, strength, and patience for this. To accustom a child to the book, too, should be from an early age.

A bright beautiful book should take its most honorable place among his toys. And the hours spent reading with mom or grandmother are the happiest hours of childhood. But parents should not miss the moment when the book moves from their hands to the hands of the child, that is, when he begins to follow the adventures of the heroes not only with his ears, but also with his eyes. This transition occurs at the age of 7-8 years, and if it drags on, then even a 15-year-old mother reads War and Peace aloud, because listening and remembering is much easier than reading it yourself. Encourage your child to read independently fiction no less important than teaching him to observe the rules of personal hygiene.

And sometimes it happens like this: parents are book lovers with experience, at home - books, books and books. But the child does not want to read and does not give in to any persuasion: he is not interested in either Winnie the Poohs with the Barmaley, or the hobbits with the Moomin trolls. So, the reason must be sought deeper - in neuropsychology.

As a rule, such children write poorly, confuse letters, make sentences with difficulty, and cannot choose the correct ending in a phrase. The lack of formation of the image of a letter (when, for example, there is not much difference between b and d) leads to the fact that the reading process becomes simply impossible, the meaning of what is being read escapes the child, because he is not able to understand the meaning of each specific word. If the mechanical folding of syllables is somehow mastered by such a poor fellow, then he still cannot understand the essence of what he read.

Reading is a complex process in which both hemispheres of the brain are involved, therefore, if one of the zones “slips”, the whole process loses its meaning. Reading from pleasure turns into a terrible punishment. The child tensely puts letters into words, but does not understand the essence and meaning. Therefore, the retelling of the text fails, or some new characters and plot twists appear in it, that is, the image is either completely absent or distorted.

If the child has not played enough early childhood if a wand for him never turned into a spatula or into a horse, it means that his imagination is not sufficiently developed. And what pleasure can you get from reading without imagining yourself in the place of Ruslan flying on the beard of Chernomor, in the place of Assoli waiting for her captain Gray, in the place of the girl Ellie walking along the road paved with yellow bricks? Good imagination - necessary condition successful and interesting reading. Moreover, reading and fantasizing are things not just related to each other, but mutually influencing.

Imagination develops well with the help of drawing, and drawing while reading is one of the ways to introduce a child to a book. How to help a child who would like to, but cannot read normally due to neuropsychological reasons, a specialist neuropsychologist will answer you if you are not too lazy to go to him for a consultation. But in this case, you can not do without a book. The more beautiful in appearance and more interesting in content this book is, the more chances you have for success.

6. From family experience.

The floor is given to three parents from the class. They share their experiences on this issue. They talk about how they instilled in children a love of reading, develop an interest in books.

7. If reading is bad...

What to do if the child does not like to read?

a) Assess the level speech development child. If the level of development is low and the child does not read well, then he does not understand the meaning of what he read. For speech development, you can use the following games:

“I am a weasel, I affectionately call all things: a book is a little book, etc. I have magnifying glasses. I see everything around me on a grand scale. For example, a house is a house, etc. Each thing has its own character. For example, a book has a bookstore, etc.” Stress games: right and wrong. Separation of sounds in words. For example, how would a foreigner pronounce this word ...

b) First show the children bright, well-illustrated books, where there is little text and a lot of pictures.

c) Observe age selection when choosing books to read.

d) Use the technique of interrupted reading: the adult read to the very interesting place and stopped reading, inviting the child to finish reading the book himself.

e) Use the method of encouragement, praise, encouragement.

(This memo is given to parents at the meeting)

1. A reading atmosphere should be created in the house: reading books aloud, discussing what has been read, exchanging opinions. Children should feel that parents show interest in books, newspapers, magazines.

2. There should be a library of not only adult books, but also children's books at home. The selection of books for children's reading should be age-appropriate, diverse in genre and subject matter.

3. When getting acquainted with a new book, teach your child to look at the cover, read the name and initials of the author, the title of the book.

4. Teach your child to carefully consider the illustrations.

5. Read aloud with your child for at least 20 to 30 minutes daily.

6. Explain the meaning of difficult and incomprehensible words, phrases and expressions.

7. Praise the child for good reading, correct mistakes if he made them. Ask how the child liked the book, what new things he learned from it.

8. Learn verses by heart, as they develop speech, memory, creative imagination and fantasy.

9. Final word.

I would like to end my speech with the words of V. A. Sukhomlinsky:“You can live and be happy without mastering mathematics. You can't be happy if you can't read. Cultivating a LOVE FOR READING

, librarian

MOU "Mountain average

comprehensive school"

It is no secret that today's children read little, preferring a book to watching television programs and videos, computer films. In the past, parents took out children's books, stood in line at stores to pick them up, and collected waste paper to get a voucher to buy a book. Books were not easily obtained, so the children were instilled with respect, even reverent attitude to the book, without which sometimes life could not be imagined.

In our country, the All-Russian holiday "Knowledge Day" is held annually on September 1, and on September 8 in a number of countries the International Literacy Day is celebrated. This day was declared by UNESCO more than 40 years ago, but it has been celebrated especially actively in the last 10-15 years.

The concept of literacy in recent decades has changed and is perceived more widely, completely differently: it is not only the ability to read, write and count, to master the basics of working on a computer and be able to work with information, but also much more.

Today, the basis of literacy, as its fundamental basis, is reading activity, the ability and skills of reading determine how successfully a person can live in the information society. Therefore, as librarians, it is imperative that we encourage our children to read.

AT last years a myth has arisen and is developing that children have stopped reading and play games in their spare time. computer games. We, adults, argue: “Will a computer replace a book?” “Children have completely stopped reading.” These and other statements began to worry teachers and parents.

However, is this true?

AT early XXI centuries, our children read “wrong” and “wrong” like you and I. However, of course, they read, only their tastes change. Reading habits and characteristics of children's reading are changing: the status of reading, its duration (reading time at leisure), character, way of working with printed text, reading repertoire, motives and incentives for reading, preferred works. The source of obtaining printed materials, information in general, and much more is also changing.

Our anxieties and fears arise due to the fact that we are focused on old model reading. Our children read, but not what their parents read.

Formerly high reading status, person reading, obligatory regular reading

Now - the children are completely indifferent to his friend reading or not

Previously, almost everyone in the house had a lot of books, entire libraries, it was fashionable, there were much fewer periodicals.

Now the picture is reversed - we buy newspapers, magazines (sometimes very expensive magazines) on the run, but very rarely books, we, adults, simply have no time to read them, due to our lack of time, we cannot even think that our children have more time.

As adults, we need to come to terms with the fact that our children are different, not the same as we were before.

We live in a completely different world and sometimes we cannot stop in our high-speed 21st century to look into ourselves, into our inner world, which should be richer than a TV and a computer. And our soul can only be rich from communication with a good man and a good book. Now parents complain that children have stopped reading, and sometimes they don’t think about what they did to make the book interesting and necessary for the child.

This book exists to help your child grow up to be a "human" with capital letter. But children will not take up reading on their own, just like that, for no reason at all. No one else from birth has been given a love of reading. Adults are needed, who showed the child the way to great book wealth, firstly, they are parents, secondly, a teacher, and thirdly, a librarian.

There are as many ways to introduce children to reading as there are children. And the most important way that parents themselves do not part with a book, magazine or newspaper

One of the first steps is choosing the right books. The book should be illustrated, and the text should correspond to the abilities of the child. Children love to look at pictures, listen, and then only read for themselves. The same book can be re-read several times, thanks to which the child memorizes fairy tales. But this applies to preschool age or first graders.

The situation is quite different for older children. Some parents may say that when their child is in Kindergarten He used to go, sometimes he liked to listen to books, but now he is not interested in anything, only the computer is on his mind. Not true. Simply, the child will choose a book if it is interesting to him, is at hand. We always have a computer nearby, but we still need to find a good book.

Nowadays, family reading ends as soon as the child begins to read on his own. Parents are removed from this process, since they themselves do not feel the need for a book, limiting themselves to viewing newspapers and "glossy" magazines. But the book has absorbed the experience of many generations, it teaches, educates, helps to get out of difficult situations, to find their place in life. Therefore, we, adults, must reveal to children the value of a book. The book is the most vivid expression of the spirit of modernity. We have to make the book attractive. I try not only to offer a book, but also to teach how to read it, how to enjoy what you read. It is not only about teaching the technique of reading, but also about the creative reading of the book, about revealing and developing oneself as a reader, about the union of the reader, writer and book, about facilitating the exchange of human experience.

To instill in students a love for the book in my work, I carry out the following work:

Conducting conversations with parents of first graders who become readers of the school library for the first time, I explain that the child should read aloud from the very beginning. early age and even if he is 10 and 12 and 15 years old. Whether mom is preparing dinner in the kitchen, the child nearby reads aloud or to herself (but then you definitely need to ask what he read about), if possible, read to him for 5-10 minutes and continue your work further. For students who become readers of the school library for the first time, I spend an information hour, where I show new, illustrated books that correspond to their age characteristics.

It is from the first grade that I try to introduce children into this magical world, to develop love and respect for creativity. So, in the 1st grade, classes are held in the form of literary games "Visiting a fairy tale" and games with Dr. Aibolit "Knizhkin hospital". In the 2nd grade, a holiday-game "Your friend is a book" and a game "Friendly sisters - book pages" are held. In the 3rd grade, the library lessons included the puzzle game “Dunno drawings” and the bibliographic game “Who seeks will find” (work with reference literature). Together with teachers, I organize and conduct library and bibliographic classes. In the 5th grade, during library lessons, the Literary Lotto game takes place. At the middle level, the library lessons include lessons of courage dedicated to the Days of Glory.

I find out the inclinations of students, what they like and I select books for each in accordance with his interests. Be sure to try to talk with students about the book they read. (What did you like? Who is the main character?)

I always ask the child for an opinion about the book I read and never criticize, if his opinion differs from the opinion of the author or teacher, the child should develop his own view of the world, and not yours. If I see that the child's eyes light up, then I suggest illustrating the read work. The library has student drawings for the works.

I always advise students that the best gift is good book. This is especially true before the holidays March 8, February 23, New Year holidays.

I make sure that when choosing a book, the child chooses it in accordance with his age characteristics. I am sure that it is necessary to accustom the child with short stories, books, fairy tales, so that he has a sense of completeness and satisfaction.

I try to convince the parents that it is necessary to subscribe to some kind of children's literary magazine, which he will be waiting for. There, most often, small works, puzzles, all kinds of contests, crafts that a child can do with his own hands are printed.

Organize video viewing in the library. After watching the movie, cartoon, I suggest reading the book and comparing the plot of the book and the plot of the film. (high school students watched the film Taras Bulba, Anna Karenina, etc. documentary on military topics, I offer students books on this topic.

In the library, during the holidays, I offer students newspapers with simple children's crossword puzzles and make it clear: in order to solve given crossword You need to read this, this and this book.

There are many ways to interest and instill a love of reading in a child. Here our imagination and knowledge will prompt the direction in which to move. It is important to understand that the main impulse to reading lies within the person himself, in those problems and questions that he lives with today. The answer to them can always be found in books. Our task is to help young readers find the secret key that will open the door to knowledge, new adventures and freedom.
