Self-development and self-improvement. Personal and professional growth

TEACHING COUNCIL "Self-educational activity of students as a step towards self-improvement of the individual."

If our children want to be truly educated people,

they must acquire education by self-study.

Chernyshevsky M. G.

Today's faculty meeting is dedicated to one of the actual problems education - the problem of organizing self-educational activities of students, the development of their self-educational competence. Why this particular question? Because the task modern school is the development of each child as a unique individuality. Considering this, great importance has the formation of students' creative potential, the desire for independent cognitive activity, the ability to pose and solve new problems, to use the acquired knowledge, skills and abilities in unfamiliar, non-standard situations.

Pedagogical stimulation of development creativity in practice will occur in the conditions of changing ideas about the nature of the relationship between the teacher and the student, the approval of the style of trust, cooperation and co-creation. This is facilitated by the teacher's belief in the creative potential, abilities and capabilities of the student, taking into account the individual mental and intellectual characteristics of each student, relying on the student's desire to express himself and self-actualize among other personalities as an individual. For this, it is necessary that the teacher creates a friendly atmosphere in the classroom, gives the child the opportunity to express his thoughts without value judgments, ensures tolerance, and gives each student the right to make a mistake. To achieve this goal, priority is given to technologies aimed at introducing computer technology into the educational process, various systems of developing, individual and differentiated learning; humanization educational process. They contribute to the creation of such conditions under which the student takes the position of the subject of educational activities; as a result, he develops qualities creative personality: initiative, desire for self-education, self-learning.

To get started, I propose the following task: the game"Associative Bush"

1. For each group, write down on paper the words that are associated with the concept of “self-education of students”.

2. The representative will present the group's response.

(group work 5 min .)

(SELF-EDUCATION: need, satisfaction, initiative, result, interest, activity, choice, interest, knowledge).

Now let's pay attention to such concepts as education, self-education, independent educational work.

EDUCATION - the process of assimilation of systematized knowledge, skills and abilities aimed at the formation of a worldview or the process and result of completed training.

SELF-EDUCATION - a specific type of activity in the course of which, thanks to the independent determination of goals, a person satisfies his cognitive needs or improves his own abilities, qualities and properties.SELF-EDUCATION - part continuing education, is an active cognitive activity that occurs on the personal initiative of a person in the form of collective or individual independent work to acquire knowledge.

INDEPENDENT LEARNING ACTIVITIES - various types of individual and collective learning activities which is carried out at educational or extracurricular activities on the instructions of the teacher, under his control, but without his direct participation.

N. V. Bukhlova proposes to consider self-educational activity as a combination of several "SELF":

Self-esteem - the ability to assess their capabilities;

Self-accounting - the ability to take into account the presence of one's qualities;

Self-determination - the ability to choose one's place in life, in society, to realize one's interests;

Self-organization - the ability to find a source of knowledge and adequate forms of self-education, plan, organize workplace and activities;

Self-realization - the realization by the individual of his capabilities;

Self-criticism - the ability to critically evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of one's own work;

Self-control - the ability to control one's activities;

Self-development is the result of self-education.

Namely, by forming this totality of "self" one can foresee the consciously self-educational activity of students.

Depending on the formation of skills, different levels of self-education are distinguished.

First level - the most flexible - students prefer their work under the guidance of a teacher. The formation of cognitive interests makes the student resort to reading books, watching individual TV shows, listening to certain lectures. The content of such activity is accidental, and the organization is spontaneous. Students do not have the ability to work independently.

Second level - relatively independent activity of the student; has its purpose, content and organization. The content of self-educational activity is changing, in the center of which independent cognition is moving. It becomes narrower, strictly purposeful; a new circle of cognitive activity is distinguished, and instead of passively completing tasks, the student now reads thoughtfully, determines the main thing, draws up a plan, and takes notes. At the same time, the level of cognitive skills increases, the student shows perseverance, diligence, struggles with his inability. The content of self-education is becoming more focused, the range of sources and forms of work is diversifying. Organizational skills remain low.

Third level - Distinguishes the clarity of action and the reality of the tasks of self-education. As a result of systematic independent cognitive activity, the skills of self-analysis of the work performed, the correlation of its results with the tasks set, the more economical use of time, the rejection or simplification of unnecessary and labor-intensive types of work are developed. At this stage, the student chooses 2 - 3 sources of information and such forms of work that can fully satisfy him. cognitive interests. He becomes the master of all his cognitive activity, organizes it in accordance with the ultimate goal.

There are several levels in the development of self-educational skills:

1. PREPARATION . This is the ability to carry out primary processing educational material, make plans, take notes, observe, measure, experiment with direct instructions from the teacher.

2. FIRST LEVEL - the ability to choose a method of action (from those already known) and apply it to work on an additional source. This skill is formed as the student develops a situational interest in additional material, ways of doing things.

3. SECOND LEVEL - the ability to carry out self-educational actions in search cognitive activity. This is the ability to see the problem, find a hypothesis, prove it, draw conclusions. These skills are formed as students develop a steady interest in additional sources, methods of activity.

4. THIRD LEVEL - possession of the skills of search (creative) self-educational activity, which. is carried out on the basis of the study of the material and the wide involvement of additional sources. This is the ability to independently see the problem, formulate and propose solutions, implement the developed plan, draw conclusions and generalizations. The preparatory and first levels of skills development contribute to the reproductive cognitive activity of students. The second and third levels refer to the productive self-educational activity of students.

And now I want usworked in groups . We have a great Christmas tree on the board. But somehow it is not festive. Now we will decorate it with you. I give the first group snowflakes, the second group - New Year's toys, the third group - a star. І group (teachers primary school): write motives on snowflakes that, in their opinion, encourage students to self-educate.ІІ group (teachers natural - mathematicalcycle): they write on New Year's toys factors that, in their opinion, interfere with the self-educational activity of students.ІІІ group (teachers public -humanitarian cycle): they write on an asterisk our actions with you, which, in their opinion, we are able and obliged to do in order to help students carry out their self-educational activities.

Let's take a look at the results of the survey of students on self-educational activities.

10. Long-term homework.

In conclusion, I would like each group to compose a short poem in 5 minutes - an appeal to students that would encourage them to self-educate activities.

As the outstanding Ukrainian teacher V. A. Sukhomlinsky wrote, “the goal of the teacher is not to put as much factual knowledge into the students’ heads as possible, but to develop the powers of their mind, to instill in children the ability to use the acquired knowledge in life, to acquire new knowledge and work.

Unfortunately, a modern graduate of a general education school does not always meet the requirements of life, in particular, in such areas as the ability to organize one's education, develop competencies, and act independently in various critical situations. Only by preparing a person capable of self-education can a modern school realize the model of a graduate who is able to independently solve his own and global problems, capable of creativity, self-development and self-realization.

The expansion of horizons, the search for new knowledge, the development of skills for independently obtaining information have become an urgent need of our time. However, the lack of some practical skills, the inability to use various methods of independent study work, make it very difficult for schoolchildren to self-educate.

Consequently, the need of the modern school is to create conditions under which each student would have the opportunity to learn to independently extract necessary information, using it for their own development, self-realization, to solve existing problems.

Hello dear friends!

If you are interested in the cost of issuing a general power of attorney, then on the site notbe.ru you can find all the information you need.

I often wonder why some people do not stop there and are constantly in the process of self-improvement, while others go with the flow and hope for chance?

Self-improvement and professional development

Self-development of a person is a process of purposeful, systematic, conscious actions on oneself, including self-improvement of one's knowledge, qualities, skills, abilities and competence in general, which makes it possible to increase performance in professional activities. Self-development can be decomposed into several components:

  • personal development;
  • intellectual development;
  • Professional Development;
  • Physical development.

If they remember professional development, then only in the case when the level of skill of a person has not changed a bit, but has increased by an order of magnitude.

Professional self-development is not a mass phenomenon, because not everyone has the necessary qualities that are needed for constant and hard work on oneself. Only those individuals who possess a number of qualities can boast of self-development:

  • Understanding the basics of self-development;
  • Motivation to solve professional problems and achieve high results;
  • The ability to self-develop.

The effectiveness of self-development is also influenced by external factors:

  • Creation of social and psychological conditions within the corporate culture of the company;
  • Presence of conditions for development;
  • Access to information and the degree of preparedness to work with it.

As you can see, a necessary condition for self-development is the presence of:

  1. intrinsic motivation;
  2. Ability to self-develop.

I would like to note that there is no self-development without the desire to perform their tasks more effectively and efficiently. Therefore, the litmus test of a person who wants to engage in self-development will be his attitude to his work.

You can determine the level of professional self-development as follows. If the dominant factors for self-development are internal motives, then this person will be aimed at self-development, but if there are no internal motives, then we can safely say that the person has no motivation for self-development.

You can’t suck motives and internal motivation out of your finger - this is a long and rather complicated process. The presence of this type of motivation in a person will allow him to independently achieve success in the process of transformation.

Human development occurs through various types of activities and communication with other people. But it happens more quickly when professional activity is supplemented by systematic self-development. Of course, just like the situation with motivation, self-development is not present in everyone, however, the ability for self-development can be created and developed quite quickly.

Skills necessary for self-development:
  • To notice shortcomings and holding self-limitations;
  • Analysis of own work;
  • Constructive criticism of your work.

If you ignore self-development, you will have to go through the path of natural maturation, which cannot guarantee an effective result. If a person has motivation and abilities for self-development, then this indicates that the person has already matured and does not need external supervision of his professional growth. He is independently able to make efforts to realize the internal potential and achieve appropriate results.

A competent person, based on the tasks set, knows how to correctly prioritize and choose the right path of development. Tasks can be both real and unrealistic. Imagine that a person is on the fifth step of the career ladder. It would be logical for him to plan to go to the sixth or, with extra effort, immediately to the seventh. If a person who is on the fifth step plans to immediately move to the tenth, then this indicates wrong actions. Such a person does not understand his abilities. Incorrect assessment of existing qualities will lead to stress, and not to success and professionalism.

There are three types of professional development:

    The formation of skills and abilities that a person does not have. Without outside help, it will be almost impossible to cope with this task.

  1. Develop and improve existing positive skills and qualities. This problem can be solved by independent efforts.
  2. Eliminate self-limitations and weaknesses that negatively impact productivity and efficiency. Here you will also need the help of third-party specialists.

It should be noted that it will not be possible to work in three directions at once, since this is a laborious and mentally complex process.

Necessary conditions for self-improvement:

Most people think that self-improvement does not require special conditions. This is mistake! We need special conditions and some resources. The most important conditions include cultural and personal groups of conditions.

  1. Organizational culture can stimulate and help a person in self-improvement, or it can be an obstacle. The first can be attributed to a culture focused on creation and creativity, and the second - the bureaucratic apparatus.
  2. Leadership can be an example of an innovator, or it can be a cautious conservative. From this will depend on what will be the atmosphere in the team. If the manager is interested in involving personnel in the discussion of production problems, supports initiative ones and shows with all his appearance that he wants to involve personnel in solving the tasks set, is not against constructive criticism and is not afraid to take risks, then a good opportunity for self-development is created.
For self-development, each person must have the following resources:
  1. Free time for self-development;
  2. Access to the information;
  3. Availability of working conditions. Such conditions include training programs, trainings, seminars and various training events.

Creation necessary conditions and resources that are needed for self-development, by definition, require financial investments. If you do not try to save every penny, but invest in self-development, then this will be the most effective investment.

Self-improvement should begin with sleep. You need to sleep less. After all, for a good rest, a person needs only about 8 hours of daily sleep. Therefore, train yourself to get up 1 hour earlier than usual. So you will have more free time to implement ideas and plans.

Try to do more important things first. Do a time and energy analysis every evening in the evening. Make your slogan the phrase - if you control time, therefore, you control life. On the phone, you need to communicate with enthusiasm and confidence. Be sure to show respect to the interlocutor.

Always remember the goal, not the end. Do work not for recognition, but for pleasure.

Laugh more, especially in the morning. Raise your mood with a smile, energize your body.

Summing up the above, it should be concluded that the main components of the processes of self-improvement and self-development are: a dream, systematic and discipline, goal and achievement, reason, the power of happiness, inspiration, responsiveness, the physical state of the body and soul. It is the development of the personality and its self-improvement that are the main tasks for realizing oneself in life and the world.

Ways of self-improvement

Continuous self-improvement is a 100% result of life prosperity and success.

There are many ways to improve yourself. One of the most popular and necessary is the study of foreign languages. This is not only useful, but also quite interesting. Knowledge of languages opens up broad prospects for traveling to distant lands, reading books in the original, career development etc. The language can be studied independently or with the help of various trainings, courses, or with the help of a teacher. For fixing foreign language should read a lot. This will not only increase the level of proficiency in foreign speech, but also replenish the horizons, develop imagination, and contribute to a more competent presentation of thoughts. You need to read not only foreign literature, but also domestic books for self-improvement.

If possible, do not neglect trips to different countries and cities. This type of self-improvement is probably one of the most enjoyable. Traveling will help you not only take a break from everyday life and work, but also learn a lot about the culture, religion, nationalities of the countries. And this contributes to all-round development. Therefore, try to please yourself with a trip at least once a year.

Take care of your upbringing. Create a to-do list for yourself and make a schedule for completing them. Try to get up at the same time every day. On weekends, you should not allow yourself to sleep more than eight hours. Indeed, to extract the maximum, organization and composure are very important.

If you are prone to laziness, then you need to gradually get rid of this harmful disease. Forbid yourself to lie on the couch for hours, endlessly play computer games or watch entertainment on TV. Everything is good in moderation. It is better to spend time watching TV news or reading them on the Internet. Make your personal schedule in such a way that you have free time only in the evening and just a couple of hours before bed. Sport is the road to self-improvement. Physical exercise makes an individual happier. However, they do not have to be of an active nature, such as running. It will be enough to do yoga or Pilates regularly.

Direct your energies to the perfection of your character. Dreams are the most important component of self-development. So don't forget to dream. After all, they contribute to a more vivid presentation of their goal.

If you decide to do self-improvement, but do not know where to start, then go to some courses, for example, in cooking or psychology. Remember that a new day is given to us for a reason. Nature inherent in man is the need for self-improvement. Learning something new every day, or mastering new skills, you will always feel happy, and there will be no place for despondency and boredom in life.

Self Improvement Program

The self-improvement program is based on several basic principles. The first principle is education. Hone your skills in what you are good at. However, also do not forget that you are not good at it. These skills are very important to improve. Try to find something interesting in an area where you are not very strong, then you will have more motivation to gain knowledge in this area.

The next principle is to never stop learning. You can be sure that you are fluent in some, but this is far from the case. After all, the world does not stand in one place, it is constantly evolving as well as humanity. There can always be someone who will do it better than you. Therefore, curiosity and enthusiasm should be your constant companions throughout life path. Give preference to reading books that will inspire you, motivate you to "exploits" and accomplishments. Do your best to let your actions speak for you, not your words. It so often happens that for most people words are at odds with deeds. After all, it's a lot easier said than done. Therefore, consciously control yourself and stop when you notice that unconscious actions contradict your own words.

Take care of yourself, which is physical activity, proper diet, sound and full sleep, as well as in the balance of mental, physical and spiritual development. All of the above will contribute to the establishment of absolutely all aspects of life. However, do not forget about the rest. Even superheroes need a break sometimes.

Set yourself a goal that will both inspire you and feel a little impossible. Try to get closer to its realization every day. Introduce a drop of variety into your life - define a goal that will go beyond your usual interests.

You need to control your emotions to explore your consciousness. Every time you feel any emotion, you need to be aware that it is the result of your thoughts. Therefore, it is necessary to find out what caused the emotions that arose. Such introspection contributes to the awareness of personality traits and character traits that you might not have suspected before. When you are aware of your own involuntary emotional manifestations, you can transform your perception of circumstances and improve your reactions to them just by changing your thoughts about them.

Try to avoid negative environments. Remember that you may unconsciously adopt the qualities of individuals with whom you often spend a lot of time. Therefore, give preference to communication with people who will inspire you, make you smile and challenge.

The key to self-awareness is the understanding of personal existence and clarity of thought through journaling. It is needed for recording various ideas, interesting thoughts, and not just for the sake of a dry statement of events that happen daily with you.

Remember that self-improvement should take place in various directions. So, for example, physical self-improvement is inextricably linked with personal growth and self-improvement. Physical self-improvement is the work on own body, its strength, beauty, hardiness, stamina and health.

Most successful businessmen- these are not only graduates of prestigious economic or law faculties, but also athletes, graduates of physical education departments. Competent work on your own body is work on improving your personality.

Unfortunately, many people in the daily pursuit of material well-being forget that spiritual self-improvement plays a very important role for personal growth and development. Spiritual self-improvement is aimed at realizing the right choice of direction life principles and goals.

Moral self-improvement consists in adapting to life, in flexibility while maintaining one's own inner core. The first concepts of morality are laid down in early childhood parents and then teachers. However, this knowledge adulthood is not enough. After all, life often throws up many unexpected surprises. For the purpose of moral self-improvement, one should try to evaluate oneself impartially in different life situations, read serious literature, engage in self-knowledge, and attend trainings.

Professional self-improvement

Today, using the latest scientific achievements and technology, time requires the training of highly qualified and professional specialists who are fluent in the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to work in the chosen field. They must be competitive professionals, not just competent workers. The present time requires mobility, creative drive and the ability to put into practice the daily growing flow of information from every working individual. This cannot be achieved without independent persistent systematic professional self-improvement. Today's specialists strive to get the most out of life in the shortest possible time. Therefore, such terms should be used more competently and wisely.

The speed of advancement career ladder directly depends today on how much a specialist is able to learn and improve his own professional skills, and not so much on his efforts.

Therefore, in last years received a wide demand for various corporate trainings, which are aimed at both personal growth and professional improvement. Today, quite often people of the older generation, who still have to work and work, become practically unsuitable for professional implementation in society due to the difficulty of adapting to constantly changing conditions, mastering new skills and interacting with the modern world.

Employers interested in the prosperity of the company include in their plans the mandatory training of employees through trainings, improving their qualifications. They understand what it is essential condition good human resource planning.

Striving for self-improvement

The goal of self-improvement lies, first of all, in knowing oneself and developing certain personal qualities and properties, realizing one's destiny, striving to rise above oneself.

As one of the probable motives for self-improvement, one can single out the individual's desire for personal change, self-improvement, which is called the desire for self-improvement.

socially determined motivational readiness to accomplishments, realized by a person, is an aspiration. Those. the desire is not only in the desire and need, the motivation for activity. Aspiration can be displayed as some form of manifestation of activity, combining two consecutive actions “I want” and “I can”, which support each other, while smoothly transforming into each other.

Personal aspiration implies the orientation of the individual to the generation of such accomplishments, the process of implementation of which is felt as pleasure. Those. in this case, the very probability of action is transformed into an incentive response (“I can” is transformed into “I want”). Satisfying the desire to act undoubtedly gives rise to an increase in the potential for action.

The desire for self-realization is the leading driving force formed personality, which induces and gives direction to its activities.

The value and semantic components of the individual's psychological culture necessarily contain such a component as the desire for self-improvement.

So, the value-semantic component of a personality can contain the following types of aspirations as components: the desire for self-improvement, to understand oneself, to regulate one's own behavioral reactions and relationships in accordance with humanistic universal values, to build a life future and life-creation.

It follows that the desire for self-improvement is an integral part of the psychological culture of the individual, which is a conscious motivation and determines the search, choice and direction of improving the subject's own abilities and potential for the most effective existence in specific environmental conditions. The desire for self-improvement as a conscious motive, which is characterized by a willingness to become even better, more successful, is not an invariable state given to an individual from birth. Aspiration passes a certain way of formation, modification. Any age period is characterized by individual prerequisites for development and forms of aspiration.

As well as getting rid of such feelings as despondency, apathy, laziness, insecurity.
  2. Happiness is a state of mind. It depends on the correct perception of the world, on your worldview, state of health and internal qualities. But it has nothing to do with the amount of money or status. It is much easier for a happy person to achieve material and social success.
  3. The state of happiness can be achieved if you work on yourself. But this is possible only for mentally healthy people who do not suffer from perfectionism.

Self-development for perfectionists is difficult to achieve

The goal of personal development- individual and general happiness. Happiness as well as unhappiness of each depend on us. We always have the right to choose, the freedom to decide how we should be: smart or stupid, lazy or efficient, happy or unhappy.

But there is a category of people who find it especially difficult to achieve self-development. These people are perfectionists.
perfectionism- the conviction of a person that the ideal can and should be achieved. If something is not perfect, then it has no right to exist.
There are such types of perfectionism:

  • personal which is directed towards itself. Excessive demands on yourself;
  • Directed perfectionism at other people. These are unrealistically high expectations from people, dissatisfaction with others;
  • Addressed to the whole world. The desire for everything and everywhere to be right and just;
  • social perfectionism. It is the desire to meet certain standards and expectations of other people.

Why is perfectionism dangerous? In what way does it manifest itself?

  • In constant striving to bring everything to the ideal. In case of failure - self-flagellation, loss of faith in yourself and confidence. And as a result - depression, apathy, lack of desire to live;
  • Meticulousness, increased attention to every little thing. Thus the loss huge amount time, deceleration on the way to the goal, fatigue and exhaustion;
  • Aggressiveness towards others and life in general. Constant dissatisfaction leads to the accumulation of negative emotions, lack of joy in life. After all, everything around does not meet the standards of a perfectionist;
  • Constantly comparing yourself with other people, dissatisfaction with yourself. A perfectionist drives himself into invented frames and standards.
  • Too much susceptibility to criticism, to high expectations;
  • Such a person concentrates all his attention only on mistakes and negative qualities their own and other people;
  • Constant doubts and imbalance in the assessment of the world around.

What is the paradox of perfectionism in terms of self-development?

The paradox is that a perfectionist constantly strives for an ideal, often invented by himself. He tries to adjust himself to standards, patterns and be the best in everything and in everything. He basically does not understand that this is not the case. A person cannot be the best in all areas and fields of activity. Therefore, having embarked on the path of self-development, he gives all his strength and energy to achieve certain goals. It doesn't matter if it's intellectual development or physical, spiritual or material, he gives himself without a trace. And very often, the perfectionism of a person ends up achieving, without a doubt, a grandiose result in one of the areas, a person falls into depression or passes away, deciding that he has no strength for something else, just as great. left. The slightest mistake or oversight seems to him the end of the world.

In children of perfectionists, even a score of 4 instead of 5 can lead to self-flagellation. This is the paradox, it would seem that no one, like perfectionists, is engaged in constant self-development, but all their achievements are given by such meticulous overwork that they lose the most important thing - the ability to live and enjoy life. Everything they do in life, their motivation to act is built on fear. Fear of not being the best, not being recognized. For such people, someone else's opinion, compliance with standards, recognition and, of course, an award (diploma, cup, medal) are very important.

If you are a perfectionist in one way or another, do not be discouraged! Previously, in psychology, perfectionism was considered as mental disorder. But now there is a completely different view of this problem, which was thoroughly studied by Tal Ben-Shahar, one of the most successful and influential scientists of our time, who deals with issues of positive psychology. He lectures all over the world and is a founding member of the Wellbeing Research Institute. He studied the problem of personality perfectionism and was able not only to show how to see the positive in striving for the ideal, but also in what ways to reconfigure yourself to think in a new way, to look at the world from a slightly different angle, so that perfectionism would be good for a person.

As a result, scientists have 2 types of perfectionism:

  1. positive(capable of adapting and beneficially influencing the quality of life of the individual);
  2. negative(destructive, debilitating).

With the appearance of Tal Ben-Shahar's book "The Paradox of Perfectionism", such individuals have hope, an alternative to live not in the negative, but to direct the individual's desire for the ideal in a positive and beneficial direction.

How do you become a perfectionist?

Who or what is the reason that a person is able to perceive his own value only through the prism of someone else's opinion, praise? Or, on the contrary, make too high demands on the world and people?
At the heart of the problem of perfectionism lies the belief, rooted at some stage in life: “I can’t make a mistake.”

There are three main sources of this pernicious thought:

  1. template action;
  2. reward;
  3. evasion of punishment.

What does it mean to follow a pattern

For example, your mother always maintained perfect cleanliness in the house or baked a whole mountain of different cookies. You took this as a pattern of behavior for yourself and do the same all your life, while it seems like you understand that you don’t have enough time for this, you work hard, run circles with your child, but continue to exhaust yourself with patterned actions. Maybe as a child you heard phrases such as “You can’t be late. This is disrespectful to the person" or " A real man does not cry or is obliged to provide for the family”, or “You need to work hard so that you are not fired”, “You need to study well to find a job”. All these patterns cultivate perfectionism in the personality.

The development of perfectionism in the individual is facilitated by "reward". Mostly positive increased attention from others is perceived as a reward. For example, your father always told everyone he knew, “My son is the best at football. He scored 3 goals per game. Come see." In this case, the child, seeing that his father is proud of him precisely for this and boasts of everything, begins to train to exhaustion in order to be the best and his father was proud of him. The child thinks that this is the only thing for which his father loves him. Or a mother tells everyone that her daughter is an excellent student with special pride. For a girl, this is a direct path to perfectionism. Good grades become the meaning of life.

Have you had to endure ridicule for your mistakes, or have you been criticized for not doing well? There will always be people in childhood who will cling to something. In this case, personality perfectionism develops, just to avoid punishment, criticism and disapproval from others.

How to deal with perfectionism?

Analyze situations from the past. Write down the events, people that influenced you. Remember what exactly they said, how they criticized or praised. After that, you need to analyze what lesson you learned from this and is it really necessary to react so seriously and sharply to those situations that are now spoiling your life for you. What fears did you have after this or that situation? What model of behavior did you choose after these events?

By understanding what circumstances, people or situations throw you into a state of perfectionism, you can easily track and pause this process.

Basic rules of conduct for people suffering from personality perfectionism:

  1. Find the cause of perfectionism;
  2. Learn to learn from these situations a positive lesson;
  3. Assess your expectations for life. What did you want as a child? Who did you want to be? Why didn't it materialize and do you really need it now?
  4. Accept the rules for yourself, and do not repeat other people's templates all your life. And by the way, life is much more interesting if you accept as a rule that rules are there to be broken.
  5. Understand that it is very important to accept your failures, emotions, reality and success. These are all components of a normal healthy life.
  6. Learn from mistakes.
  7. Don't go to extremes.
  8. Do what you want and don't compare yourself to others. This is your life. Let your motivation for action be not fear, but passion. Do what brings you pleasure. And then your perfectionism will only benefit
  9. Learn to be grateful. No one is worse or better than you. Everyone is individual. Thank everyone for the experience, whether it's positive or negative. Maintain friendly relations.
  10. Learn not to focus on mistakes, failures. Live not only for yourself and for the sake of proving to yourself and others that you are better. And learn to live for the sake of life itself, achieving happiness and success.

Everyone is prone to mistakes, you need to be able to accept them.

It is very important to accept your failures adequately, not be afraid to show emotions, perceive reality objectively and rejoice in your successes. After all, we all learn from mistakes, we need not concentrate on them, just analyze and draw conclusions for the future. After all, every person wants to reach some heights, but there is no need to become a hostage to your own ambitions. Do your best to achieve the goal, but remember that there are many different ways to achieve it. And it is not necessary to go the shortest to get ahead of everyone. Life is not a race. Do not go against yourself and your humanity, do not be afraid to show emotions, because everyone around is the same people as you. Allow yourself to be angry, sad, happy and you will be pleasantly surprised, but others will gladly share your emotions with you.

We are all imperfect and it is worth striving for. After all, in real life in fact, nothing is perfect, and at the same time it is perfect. The tree may be gnarled, but it's still beautiful. Perfect Story love can only be in a movie written by a screenwriter and played by actors. The perfect magazine cover girl - Photoshopped. Behind any stunning success is a huge work. Therefore, you do not need to compare yourself with anyone and reach for ideals. In order to achieve self-development and personal growth, it is correct to compare only yourself “today” with yourself “yesterday”.

We may not all be perfect, but each of us is unique. And everyone deserves happiness, which he can create only himself.
